3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsHey all, I was just curious as to how I could find vocals and such to try and make mashups with... something like 3lau or Kapslap if you are familiar with those guys. How do I go about finding acapella versions of popular songs and remixing them, if they are always layered with other instruments, etc. in the original. I have seen so many mashups and remixes that use leads, synths, or vocals from the original songs but have no idea where to get them - they probably just have good connections. But nonetheless - how do mashup artists get vocals when they are just messing around and don't want to ask tons of artists for their stems?? Do they just EQ out the instruments or what? Sorry I have so much questions, but you get the idea. (i wouldnt post any remixes on the portal obvs.)

i LOL'ed. And thanks for the music guys (yay shameless self advertisement?). Any good professional artists with a high number of good songs would be appreciated too
I really need some more good house/trance/party music. I'm that kid who always comes to parties prepared with awesome songs to play for everyone and sadly my playlist is getting a little overused. If you guys have any recommended (preferably professional) house artists that are chill and good for parties please throw some ideas at me!
Yes that's helpful. The tutorial doesn't give the exact sound I'm looking for but I'm guessing I just need to play around with the pitch a bit and I should be able to get what I want
Hey all, I'm a complete nooooooooob at making new synths and that is what i always struggle the most with. I was wondering how to make a big saw that is often sidechained in songs like this: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/4 62681 at 1:55. This synth seems like an important thing to have in my arsenal and I would appreciate any help I can get to recreate something like it. I mainly use massive in case you needed to know. Whenever I try and make stuff like this it always sounds awkward and crappy despite how easy it probably is to make.
I better download this before all the posts get removed!
Hey this is perfect because I was looking for a real instrument to throw into my song. It's not finished by the way and I can't guarantee what you play will be added into the finished product, but hey let's try it! I would like you to play the notes a# c# d# f# g# a# g# c# d# f# along with the violin at the beginning of this song with an ACOUSTIC guitar or a CELLO if you have time. Just play the same melody as the strings at the beginning so I can replace them with a real instrument that isn't a synth. With the guitar I'd like the notes to be played as chords (if that makes sense, I'm not a guitarist). Sorry if I'm asking for alot but I'm just being specific ;). Here's the song: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/55371035/Dubstep 3.mp3
It's 170bpm btw if you needed to know.

Does this work?
Yes, that is much better. How did you get rid of that silly static

Yah that happened to me a ton before but I have a good comp now so that isn't a problem. Also, the static stays after exporting.
Apologies for the double post, but I'm not using that synth anymore. Help would still be nice for future reference though.

You have to remove the space in the link :)
Hey all, I'm making a new song and I'm having trouble with a pad-ish synth that I'm making. At the beginning of each note a blurb of static appears and I'm guessing this is an envelope issue, but I do not know how to fix it. It is very suttle but I want to make this perfect. You can hear the static at about 0:04. Here is a recording of the song's beginning (it's in rough stages, don't judge) and the .ksd file for the synth:

Does anybody know a pack that has real drums - kicks snares etc. that could be used for a rock song. I want to find a pack with those very clean and crisp sets.

SONG! Can someone please review this?! I already got some advice and it helped soooo much. I feel that the more people can give their input the better I get... I would seriously appreciate any feedback.
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/4 61467 NEWEST SONG! spent awhile on this had a lot of help from people like Acid Paradox and I couldn't have done it without NG! Please give me some feedback this is my best song yet I believe!
If you have just the .wav or .mp3 files then I don't think you can time stretch without changing the audios pitch on either songs... If you have the Fl Studio files then you can just use the tempo meter at the top in each of the compositions so they are at the same tempo.
Okay thanks for the help everyone I'm VERY grateful! I have all I need so no more need to keep bumping this to the top of the forum!

Most dubstep tracks have a "phrase". Imagine that your wobble is your singer and the lfo is the way she sings her vocals, you need to try to make something catchy without making the track overwhelming by your wobble.
Also the space between the build and the climax (drop) is kinda unclear. You should make it more solid because it sounds like the climax is coming at the 4/4 beat before the climax.
I modified your song and send you a bit with some drop that i made , check it out.
Holy crap that sounds amazing hahah you've got huge talent. Yah I should probably make the wobble faster like your addition with more rhythm because I tend to make pretty junk bass lines compared to that. Thank you so much for the help and I promise I will make this song way better now!
Okay thanks. I actually didn't sidechain it but it just blends it awfully. I'm definitely going to replace the kick and try the crash you suggested to deepen the drop. Thanks for getting me off on the right foot!
I'm not asking for a recipe im just looking for some quick feedback. In the meantime ill continue following your advice and screw around hoping something happens
Hey all, I'm looking for some song specific advice today. I frequently fool around with dubstep and ALWAYS have trouble making the drop fit and transition to the dubstep part without being awkward. Specifically, I need help with the drop on this song because the space in between just doesn't fit - as some of my friends have told me. If you have some way to help fit this in bet please show me the way!
You can always use Finale which is a program made for classical music writing. I think it has synths etc. and you can make it in sheet music style. A few of my band friends use it and some have made compositions of over 40 pages :o
Okay thanks. God when its so simple I feel like a retard for even asking lol
o crap i meant to do that lol and I mostly mean how do i do the simple effect he uses with the snare. Here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bizL0kRyc hU
How do I make this kind of intro. I'm guessing it's more than a simple automated cutoff and parametric eq - which is what I usually do. Or... does he do that but just have amazing sounds to do it with. ps. im not just trying to copy skrillex i just wanna know how to make this effect and i was listening to this song :D
ooookay thank you very much
