Forum exclusive stickies and or in the rules add important threads, such as the lounge and request thread. something about 1 personal thread per person

Response to: Darth Vader carving Posted October 24th, 2010 in Art

It's a jackolantern, it's supposed to be dark. However the image quality itself is pretty wonky.
All and all it's pretty good, my only gripe is that the lightsaber is just kinda there. There's no real point to it being there, it'd have been easier and probably better if you had made vader bigger and just not had the saber

Response to: Double Jump Videogame Comics Posted October 20th, 2010 in Art

I was expecting to say stuff about avoiding gamer comics unless what you have is really something
I don't have to say that, this really is good stuff.

The site layout on the other hand is a bit wonky. The comics are so huge that the page stretch is a little ridiculous, and sometimes it only takes up a third the screen. If there was a way for you to center the comics, and make the long horizontal comics vertical, it'd really help.

Adjust color is a beautiful thing
I don't really care for hipsters, but I wanted to do something bright and colorful, and hipsters tend to be bright and colorful

Practice for the sake of practice, don't do it to post art. if you can do both fine, but don't cancel out one because of the other.

I think the pieces you've done so far would look fine with more fitting textures, the apples and the little creature all look like they are made of porcelain instead of apple or skin

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted October 11th, 2010 in Art

Maybe a bit more effort in the logo champ?

Response to: Pieces of my art... Posted October 10th, 2010 in Art

Now your just being childish man, people try to help you, and you just shut them down with excuses.
fine we've dealt with that before.

Critiques are advice on how to improve future pictures, or ones already made, just because it's inked doesn't mean there aren't mistakes, and if you've made those mistakes, you may make them again, that's where we come in.
So you don't make those mistakes again.

This is not DA, we aren't going to blindly pat your ass while you show us these pictures, weare going to critique them, some will tear them apart to show you what you did wrong.
and then you have 2 choices

you can take it, like a normal person looking to improve, and look at your work in a different perspective and actually learn something.
Or you can just keep making excuses why your art is the way it is and never or very slowly improve.

The first one, some anatomy problems, arms are kinda long but mostly the waist, the waist is ridiculously small, all of these so far actually have really tiny waists and giant chests, it looks silly.

Response to: Ash and the Chaos Sword Posted October 10th, 2010 in Art

Well i basically glimped through this thread because it's fucking long and full of butthurt,

a troll is someone who tries to invoke a negative reaction in people for the sole purpose of that reaction btw

For the most part, most people here are totally right, I've seen some backwards handgrip kinds things, but I need to point out that he isn't holding the handle, he's holding somwehere above it, which is throwing people off cause his hands are getting lost in all the details, especially his left hand.

The stance still bugs me, I looked up horse stance and the main examples I could find looked like this(below). legs to the side, arms back, or in some cases out, balanced.
There is no way he would be very steady with the majority of his body leaning out to the right, especially holding a sword.

This is unfortunately not a place to get your work showed off
okay yes it is
however it is also a place to get some help with your work, which is why most people come here. We aren't professionals for the most part, but we do have knowledge to contribute.

Everyone with even the slightest bit of criticism is a troll
this is a fact
But yeah, those legs are pretty small compared to the rest of him, especially putting foreshortening into consideration.
The pose looks kinda odd too, like he'd fall over normally, but the tail balances it out i guess?
