Put some time into something, THEN come for help, we can't tell what you can really do if you don't show us what you can really do.
then we can help.

Probably

More or less, the lounge is basically for our general conversation, with some art topics thrown in every once and a while.
Which is basically what stickam is for, but not everyone goes to stickam

It's just like going to a new school, moving, what have you.
Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it any different, being the new guy is always awkward.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted November 21st, 2010 in Art

Because the regs have always been a tight nit niche that you need to pay homage to get into, right?

I honestly don't know what people are talking about when people say they don't feel welcomed here, when I joined I was welcomed with the openest of arms, which totally blew me away considering the mentality I had of newgrounds was basically what general is.

Sure when someone fuck's up on the first couple posts some of us get a bit overzealous and throw the book at them, but as long as you weren't a total dickcheese you get a pretty nice welcome and a few cups of punch and full access to the snack table.

We had to do a project where we needed to use lightboxes, there weren't enough for the class so we pretty much did that.
ghetto lightbox is the best.
Really smooth animation, how many frames are they?

We've chatted on and off about it for a while now, and personally, I think what burned us up most wasn't the fact that the rules were changed, but that they were changed just like that. With no consideration for the people who actually manage this forum.
Naturally there are problems with the system we have now, and starting picture is one of those topics that has been discusses several times, among other things.

I have a big computer and fancy tablet, I guess I just suck.
I must need to buy even more expensive stuff, that'll make me better.

Hey I wanna become a better artist Posted November 20th, 2010 in Art

How do I do that?

At 11/20/10 03:14 PM, liljim wrote: I am saying exactly the opposite of that. I just don't understand what the point of an ART forum is if you can't DISCUSS ART without actually producing some in every single thread, other than an art forum lounge where I'd be equally as unwelcome, for fuck's sake.

Since when are people unwelcomed to post, when has this ever been a problem?\
People come looking for help all the time, they come here, and whether they are grand masters or literally just starting out, they post an example of what they can do.

if we don't have that example we have no idea how good or bad they are and we can't help them improve. same thing for discussion. "I'm having trouble with watercolors, here's what keeps happening [picture]" people usually find help in the lounge, because it's a thread almost all of us go to.

Pretty much everyone is against this for a reason, the old system worked, it could use a revamp but just getting rid of rules is not the revamp it needed. Consulting other staff members that have even less to do with the art forum doesn't make us feel better either.

I can't tell if its above the water or below it.
If it above the water, it needs some waves or something crashing into and darker shading where the mouth would be under water.
if its below, needs more water texture and less detail honestly, and again the shadow thing

It's all preferences really, but something digital does really well is neatness.
Bold, solid colors that you just can't really get from traditional.
