Response to: eye help Posted January 11th, 2011 in Art

Eyes are very gender specific, they're going to look pretty ambiguous unless you draw a bit more of the face.
I'd suggest maybe bigger eyebrows and less lashes

Response to: Looking for artists to make a comic Posted January 9th, 2011 in Art

Frankly, you aren't going to get ANY artist, paid or not
until you fix your writing. The story is generic, you even say yourself you making this a kind of street fighteresque storyline. The characters and plot devices... are boring and cliched to death.

Making a comic is hard and the failure or success of a comic is based more often than not on the writing. Good writing can save bad art, but good art can not save bad writing.

Response to: Some Honest Appraisals.. Posted January 9th, 2011 in Art

The idea of how you did this seems pretty interesting to me. I like what's going on with the legs, they are defined and you can tell what's going on
however that can't be said with the waist up, it's a clusterfuck
I can't tell whats arm, torso, wing, or gun with out really looking at it, that's a no no.
The wings are a little boring cause they seem to be the same piece copied over and over.

Response to: I can has critique? Posted January 9th, 2011 in Art

my 2 cents, it may have already been said but everyone seems to like talking in huge walls of text right now and I just woke up.
It's pretty hard to judge whether you draw wierd arms and what not from one piece where you can't really see any details. Do you have any full body pics of less shadowy figures?

5. stay active, post every few days at least.

I'm confused why this is a requirement

Response to: Entrys of various delineation Posted January 6th, 2011 in Art

Nope photoshop
pencil tool set to dissolve
and yeah, at first i was gonna do it in black and white, and decided to color it but i already had the texture
admittedly looks much better in good ol' noir en blanc

My 2 cents, but I'm thinking he means it's pretty lazy looking for something referenced, it cuts off at the top and there's a lot of I don't know what going on with its left shoulder
it looks sloppy

I can't speak for everywhere, but if you're looking for cheap and a reasonable way to make a profit, going online is probably not your best bet.

Around here at least, there are a couple places you can go to, if you supply the shirts and the graphics, they'll print the shirts for pretty reasonable prices. Don't know about where you are though.

Response to: Databending Posted December 30th, 2010 in Art

If you don't want varying opinions you really shouldn't post in a public forum
I've seen some pretty cool things come out of stuff like this, but just because it's different I'm not going to blindly support it.
I'm sure there are people that have figured out what characters do what and why and how, and using that to apply general artistic knowledge to make it not a total eyesore.
but taking an image off of google or where ever you get it from and messing around with it a bit and expecting praise for being unique and unconventional is being pretty pretentious

Response to: Databending Posted December 30th, 2010 in Art

Spoken like a dick or not he has a point
this shit's no different that what we usually condemn on sight, it's just a different, even more random way of going about it.
There's no artistic skill or process of going about it, its fucking up a file format and seeing what happens to it.
