Vocaloid is nifty, though buggy every now and then, and has a ridiculous installation time. good for musical uses of sampled voice. it also has different voices you can mount on it (sexy).

if you just wanna have some fun, though, i think Shit Talker is still around.

percussionist since middle school.

trained snare/marching style, though i can feel my way around on virtually everything. it's been awhile, but i'm sure i could get back into marching tenors and the like if i had some warmup. i can do the complicated stuff, but not ALL the complicated stuff. i was gonna try to act as percussion instructor at the local high school this year, but nothing ever added up to make it work out. :(

used to write the stuff aaaaall the time.

i can sorta play piano/keyboard, and i can do a lot on a kit, but it's hard to get BOTH feet working together, so i sometimes fumble if i try to do too much. usually, i let my hands do most of it, and ony use one foot (for the kick), or have both feet moving at the same time.

if you're still searching...

super drum FX is pretty awesome, with tons of customizing. you can get it in VST if you google it. if you want, you can even plug your own samples into it. with things like ersdrums and other simple tools (or effects) like that, you can combine them all and make some really neat sounds.

any sort of wave editor'd probably give you the option. that can be anything from Nero Wave Editor (what i use to change .wav to .mp3),to maybe even what you/he used to record, if you/he saved it. if you scour enough, you're sure to find it.

Topic: Non-confusing audio tools?

Posted: 05/15/08 06:56 AM

Forum: Audio

i don't have a keyboard or anything like that.

at all.

seriously, i have absolutely no recording tools aside from manual construction. i don't even have a decent mic, just the p.o.s. one built into my notebook. i've always founs staff/notation construction to be the most trusting, since i can see/read the music as i make it.

i've been using this for a while, and am the most comfortable. and i did try FL. if you've had previous experience in general rhythm composing, it's easy. it's usually the sequencer bit and the loop numbers that confuse noobs (i use that term lightly). i saw a guy try it for the first time and make a masterpiece. i'm noy kidding. it still comes at a person-to-person basis, sooo...

i don't wanna incite any wars/debates here...

i harp on FL a lot. not the program, because it's genius, but the fact that anyone can pump out amazing music by simply putting two synths with preprogrammed rhythmic sequences on top of each other with a bass beat and call it a song (and reciece mucho praise for doing so).

i use sonar cakewalk music creator 3. it has a staff roll. much easier to write for me. just get your own assload of VSTs and have at it. the program's pretty cheap, too (unless you find it online for free, but i forked over the money to have an official CD). i love it, and i'll never use anything else. ever.

you can always record your own things too, or use a MIDI keyboard, or just import audio samples and mess with them or amp em up. or plug a guitar in and use one of the amps and tinker with that. lots to do, and that's before you get more things.

"try it. you'll like it!"

i use Sonar Cakewalk Music Creator 3.

i have absolutely no access to recording capabilities whatsoever. i don't let that stop me.

it's true that there're more and more "real" fake musicians and music, but it is, truly, easier. Michiru Yamane's been using a whole slew of utterly fake instruments (and some you'd never guess were fake) for eions, but it didn't kill good old fashion orhcestras (Super Mario Galaxy, anybody?). she simply didn't have to pay anyone else to record out what she could simply click to export and mix.

computerized? to an extent. i like a healthy dose of utterly fake, and genuinely real(istic) instrumentation.

(i'm very tired)

seriously, though. i'd just rather have actual commentary if i'm gonna get slammed. even some kinda review if i don't. it's bad when the number of downloads is higher than the number of voters, and the average score dips somewhere between 1.0 and 2.5. it's disheartening. if so many people are interested, why can't they TELL me (oh yeah, extra clicks).

...and i didn't mean to sound the way i did with this. i just can't seem to find any way to edit these after a post (GAH!). also, i completely understand that i was just asking for more zeroes. i don't want 5's if people don't think i should have them. i don't care.

some honesty'd be good, though.

...and reviews.

...and votes.

...and coca-cola.

man, it doesn't take as long anymore for a zero to happen. why, just a few minutes ago, i had the two newest uploads voted zero, dooming them from a fresh start (admittedly, the newest as of this time are minor ideas, but it's happened to more). i'm still trying to get another song up and running again (as well as many others, actually) from very angry (or maybe petty) people.

don't consider this a cry for help, but could i get some honest opinions/votes from someone on at least SOME of my music? it'd help my self-esteem, as well as my faith in others. it IS pretty bad when some 7x voter slaughters an okay song and another slams a NEW song.

many a piece may be taken off of here if i can't trust others.

:C

(yes, this is whining, and it completely fits the forum stereotype)
