I just finished this loop, and I'd really like some feedback. It's meant to be background music for a futuristic game. I used only stock FL stuff except for EZ drummer.

I like the idea of this thread, but I'd like to point out that film scores should not be in the classical genre, they should be in the film score genre.

Don't tell me I'm bashing/flaming, I just think it's a common misconception and I'd like to correct it.

I wanted to do a more classical thing with it, but after talking to my buddy who's coming back from basic training soon, I decided to go with an army march type of feel.

It's gonna be in 4/4 time, I'll have it done in a couple days.

He wasn't complaining...he was pointing out that his computer sucks, and he doesn't use adblocks even though it makes his computer run slow, and the people who are running the adblock probably have a more powerful computer than him.

I get up and fix something to eat during a commercial break or often change channels. I go to the theater late so I don't have to watch the ads and can just watch the movie. The whole reason someone runs adblocker is because they aren't interested in the ads. So by finding ways to get around adblocker, you're targeting an audience who doesn't want your business in the first place. Does that make sense?

I mean, you make a living off two things. Random flash artists submitting expense free content that generates interest for the site, and jamming products into peoples faces. BUT HEY - everybody plugs ads into everything anymore, and it sure beats working two jobs. But I think that whether people want to view those ads is their choice... and why shouldn't it be? Viewing the site is free. If they're not interested, they're not obligated.

I have an animated gif version, but for some reason it exports really weird, the alpha tweens don't fade right and the text shows up as 2 black lines. Here's the .swf

I'm proud of getting my certification in Flash, Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver recently! Oh, and submitting my first flash to the portal and winning daily feature today :3

This is actually my first real flash project, so I never expected it to get past judgment lol.

I'm a composer. I have some really nice orchestral samples and just general instruments (EW orchestra gold and goliath)

I have worked with game companies before, not just flash games, and I am reliable and I can always work on music. Just go to my page to hear a few examples, although I have better songs I still have yet to upload onto here.

I MADE SEVERAL SOUNDFONTS, free downloads, free to use.
Be sure you make them on 24 bit, this way will lose less of sound quality.

No, not really. I guess that is important huh? Well, I thought maybe a soundfont would be easier over a VST, although that's just my ignorant guess lol.

I have a few instruments and ideas for some good soundfonts. The problem is, I have no idea how to make a soundfont. So my question is, where can I go to learn how to start on this project?

Well, nothing can be done abut it. This is a loosing battle. Just remember, music isn't a popularity contest.

Upsetting I came in last place, although I can't say I deserved better seeing as it was done really fast =P. Although, I didn't have high hopes seeing as this is newgrounds and msot people like techno/trance/D&B

I think this goes in the flash forum, but try using high quality .wav files instead of low quality .mp3 files

I've been playing guitar for ~5 years (5 years electric, 2 classical), and I'm teaching myself piano. I've been taking guitar lessons for the past 2 years, and I'm lucky enough to get a professional guitar teacher who actually knows/applies theory. In my eyes, anyone who is serious about making music should DEFINITELY know music theory. It's almost inexcusable to not know the basics. There are so many resources out there, so it's easy to find. Now, I'm not trying to seem like an asshole, but most (MOST, not all) songs made without knowing theory are bad. plain and simple. Not taking the extra time to learn theory will be wasted trying to figure out how to get a certain melody you hear in your head, probably not being able to get that sound. The circle of fifths has to be the greatest tool for musicians.

I'll probably get all kinds of flames/arguments, but I honestly believe musical theory is essential. I disagree that theory isn't needed to make really great music (although, there are a FEW exceptions). You cannot and will not change my mind.

TLDR, learn musical theory.

I guess I do the frame by frame method? Honestly, I only use the mixer effects like PEQ2, reverb, stereo enhancer, ect. I also use the midi import alot, but that's because I write ll my stuff down in guitar pro.
