It may seem pessimistic at first, but that's just a worldwide statistic, it doesn't surprise me. People are supposed to die to counterbalance the enormous amount of births. Look at this: Hitler killed 12 million people alone, Stalin killed 20 million, and Mao Zedong killed 50 million (correct me if I'm wrong). Things like that are pessimistic, but even then, it's really small when the birth rates counterbalance. At the time of Mao's reign China's population had hit the billions.

Actually, it's 78%, and it's only statistical. Depending on the situation, it's probably rounded up or down.
