I meant by being neutral is that I'm not going to take sides based on their race, religion or whatever, I just want the killing to stop, getting things back to where it was is now impossible. right now Assad winning would be our best bet in my opinion, if the rebels won it will lead to ultimate chaos when it comes to who takes the lead and rebels are already waging wars against themselves and did public executions even while Assad is still in power.
Mosques getting destroyed is old news, in a city called Homs the army shelled the shit out of a big old iconic mosque due to rebels using it as cover (intentionally) then they spammed youtube to frame it as a war on islam calling muslims for help opening the doors of hell to the government, people, and themselves, hell we even have some germans fighting in syria so imagine how many saudis, afghanis, chechens, and yes americans there is, and nobody would ever want those guys on the ruling chair!

The thing I don't understand is why no one seems to care that this might turn into Iraq, or it may already have. Everyone seems to think of it as a fight between the government and rebels, even though it's becoming a religious war between Sunni's and Non-Sunni's.

In fact turning into Iraq 2 was a main concern since the start of events, and the government did use that extensively in the media, but it turned to be much worse judging by the time frame.
To be fair Assad the son started his ruling by getting a Sunni wife then increasing the number of sunni officials in the government as a message of good will, so for the government it was never a religious influenced war, that's just something used by rebels to attract support & jihadists and it worked because some Muslims are easy to manipulate as all of you already know (remember that troll movie trailer which resulted in killing americans in libya?, and the Danish Mohammed comics?).

Also why does the country of Syria still need to exist? Why can't you guys just unify with Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt again, the only reason you're separate countries is because the French and British said so.

That's a very complex issue, lets say the french did a pretty good job dividing these countries putting very different rulers in power to take them into different directions. but right now its either Assad or AlQaeeda-minded government, very easy to choose in my case!

Syria: Islamist Rebels Abduct 12 Nuns from Orthodox Monastery in Maaloula

Christian village Maaloula falls into jihadists'

BBC News - Syria crisis: Fierce battle in Christian town Maaloula

I am an atheist Syrian, you can ask me anything about the conflict, and I'll answer from neutral point of view based on seen or word of mouth facts.

As a start I can assure you, US gov was and still backing the devil in this conflict. while the support for the terrorists has indeed declined, it is still effective.
I know that US gov see it as a fun little game with Russia, but real and mostly good people are dying horribly in the process!

I would say not bad if you use starling or AXGL the later is more suitable for games and has neat stuff like collision detection and tilemaps kinda like flixel but much faster on mobile devices.

meh, you need more than just that to get dedicated programmers and artists to work for your ideas ... even noobs will spit in your face!

Response to: Is college a good investment? Posted June 25th, 2011 in Politics

Hmmm I couldn't finish collage since I had ADHD (basically can't focus on listening or reading) as I couldn't keep depending on my deep thinking and super logical thinking powers which helped me pass school.

But ADHD did one good thing to me which is being good at computer programming and after a year of self teaching and making an online portfolio I was able to get a decent job, and right now I keep getting calls from random companies asking me to join, I even get emails from US, Germany, Canada asking me to do freelance jobs.

The point is in IT world you can skip collage if you have the talent (also applies on Artists), I actually make more than any other engineer in my family who used to consider me an idiot, and I was able to form a very successful company with 2 other uneducated Artists.

I don't know if I would've survived if I was in a developed country without collage, but the fact that I get job offers from there might prove that it would apply anywhere.

Anyway, who cares, Hezbollah used the C&CRA3 theme in its propaganda video, it's nothing new really.

lol I've seen some Hizbolla videos, and it's not just RA3, they stole themes from almost every popular war or epic movie like: Pirates of the caribbean, Troy, kingdom of heaven, and others.

They also released a modded game where you play as a hezbolla soldier infiltrating Israeli base and blowing things up

Warhammer terrorists fail Posted June 24th, 2011 in Politics

This is a terrorist group called "Islamic Iraq" and I think their objective is to rule Iraq under extreme Islamic rules.
anyway the point is that they used a modified warhammer logo as their logo, then later in the video you'll see a modified "Army of Two" concept art then a bunch of pictures of crying US marines!
Inside the logo they wrote "No god but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger"
I bet if they know what warhammer is about they wouldn't use it!
Also the music makes me wanna puke!
I am a Muslim Arab, and I hate god for making me one of those idiots!

Great! glad you guys like it, I like your ideas, if anyone has more post them.
will start working right away :D
thanks!

Should I keep working on this game? Posted April 28th, 2011 in General

I was working on this which is inspired by the events in Libya and Gaddafi's awesome speeches until I lost interest since my own country "Syria" suddenly became under chaos during the development and there's a lot of killing right here to keep me nervous and unfocused.

so if anyone thinks it's interesting tell me, it might give me some innovation to continue.
or if you're a good AS3 programmer you can take the source and keep working on it, there's isn't much work to do as the core code for almost everything is done.
what's left:
-life bar for the player
-more weapons
-items and upgrades
-more gameplay features
-polishing if needed

all the art assets are done, the code is well organized in classes, and written in oop manners like inheritance and polymorphism so you if you want to jump in you should know these stuff.

controls:
WASD: movement
mouse click: fire
[1] machine gun
[2] rocket launcher
[3] call mercenary
[P] pause menu (options)

Response to: Beta test my website Posted April 8th, 2011 in Game Development

hmmmm it's kinda fast, and I don't mind the music except that it resets when navigating through pages.
if there's a way to preload the pages so we wait just once at the start of the site.

though overall not bad, but I think that a flash website that can be made with html is an overkill unless you have something very unique like rich animations and effects, but it works.

well I might even use this for cheap clients if it serves the purpose!

Response to: Damn good AS3 programmer available Posted February 3rd, 2011 in Collaboration

well for a movie I am totally useless, as I am really bad in art and animation.

but for coding, here's what I can do:
-Platform games with custom rendering and animation code.
-advanced collision, slope handling, etc.
-custom level and world editors, in case we really need them.
-RPG games.
-particles.
-scene handling, menus and UI.
-dynamically rendering huge worlds.
-iPhone and Android compiling using AIR, I developed some tricks to make fast games for phones.

and pretty much everything except 3D as for the time being I am not interested in the current methods of 3D rendering in flash until adobe officially release the 3D support api which is going to be soon.

I am not going to put my full power unless there's good artists backing me up on the other side.

I would be happy to work on a JRPG game with 8bit graphics, or a complex platform game with rpg elements like exploring, talking to people, xp, .. etc.

I only work with Flash CS5 or Flash builder 4.

Response to: Flash is awesome Posted February 3rd, 2011 in Game Development

Flash is awesome, AS3 is really good and it just keeps getting better, and it's my favorite coding language, I just love how dynamic it is.
and now we have more and more reasons to stick to flash as a main job:
- Now we can export the same flash code we do for desktop to phones (iPhones and Adroids) and adobe is planning to support every thing they can which will make us flash developers most wanted soon.
- Adobe is working on a hardware accelerated 3D api which will change flash and web forever.
- Adobe acknowledged that flash is being heavily used for games, and they will add more features based on this, like gamepad support, and other stuff that will help us making better games.

I can't wait till 3D kicks into NG and the rest of flash game sites, we're going to witness the next generation of web gaming, and we flash developers will gain access to something powerful without having to learn something new, isn't this so awesome?

Damn good AS3 programmer available Posted February 3rd, 2011 in Collaboration

Hey I am a good AS3 programmer, I feel like doing a flash game in my free time, I want to join some good animators and artists, I have some few games here in NG but I'd like to keep my real identity secret.

I will provide samples of my work privately.

I can also code an optimized flash game suitable for porting to iPhone and android.

so if you're an animator and you have a promising project and want a decent AS3 coder to join just pm me with a sample of your work, and I'll reply with mine.

it will keep you script as far as it's inside your movieclip on a frame.

Response to: Using a Template movieclip Posted October 24th, 2010 in Game Development

well it's been a long times since I used as2 so it might not be exactly like this...

first make a movieclip

go to the library and to it's properties, check export to action script, and export on first frame
and give it a name and remember it...

then in your code:

var dep:Number = this.getNextHighestDepth();
this.attachMovie("NameInLibrary","newName",dep);
Rendering a huge tile map Posted October 22nd, 2010 in Game Development

I want to write my own tile based engine, though I am kind of new to flash.
I have a clear idea of how to code everything except the map renderer..

I have a 2 dimensional array that keeps tile indexes for each block.

I'm lost between 3 methods:

1) calculating which blocks are inside the camera borders and draw them on a sprite using copyPixels whenever the camera moves.

2) render the whole level onto a sprite and use scrollRect+catchBitmap to navigate through.

3) dynamically create new bits(sprites) and place them on new areas being revealed.

which one you think is faster and more efficient? or any other idea?
the map has tons of layers and tiles, and depth feeling (layers moves in deferent speeds).

I have reasons not to use flixel or flashpunk.

Thanks
