There seemed to be tremendous amounts cut from Goblet of Fire, though Order of the Phoenix was slightly better at maintaining the integrity of the book.
Mind you, there's alot in deathly hallows that can be cut down, during the middle when they're in hiding and that. I think The Prince's Tale chapter should definately be taken care of for the film, because it would be shite if it was watered down.
Deathly hallows was amazing.
The Prince's Tale was probably one of the best chapters in the whole book, when all the revelations appeared about Snape, and it truely had me in awe.
Alright cunts.
I guess nothing has changed here.
I've been holidaying. Not had much new metal, or indeed any metal.
And I finished the latest Harry Potter the other day. It was fucking awesome.

You could listen to a Dream Theater album for the 50th time and pick up something new (I did it in Home the other day, some weird part the keyboard plays.... and also the 'What we have been...' part in Beyond This Life, I never knew the backing vocals then says '.... and what we are.')
And Iron Maiden are boring enough as it is :P. Nevermind with overplaying their albums.
I guess you're right. There's a lot more you can get out of progressive music. Infact when I listen to bands lke Dream Theater, which have alternating styles (even in one song) you can love one part of a song, then later on fall in love with another part. For example I used to be mad for guitar parts in Dream Theater songs. Nowadays I still am, but the band have really increased my love for the keyboard too, so I also look out for the keyboard stuff.
Favourite lyrics? Hmmm so many, they're bloody great lyricists.
I love that bit Nev mentioned from "A Change Of Seasons":
"Seasons change and so can I, hold on boy, no time to cry, untie these strings, I'm climbing down, I won't let them push me away."
And "Through Her Eyes" is a powerful song lyrically, especially:
"Just beyond the churchyard gates
Where the grass is overgrown
I saw the writing on her stone
I felt like I would suffocate
In loving memory of our child
So innocent, eyes open wide
I felt so empty as I cried
Like part of me had died"
Chokes me up all the time :(
I also love the bit in "Home" which has a bit where LaBrie reprises lyrics from "Metropolis";
"I remember the first time she came to me
Poured her soul out all night and cried
I remember I was told there's a new love that's born
For each one that has died"
Also, does anyone get afraid that they may overplay Dream Theater to the point where you get sick of them?
I've done it before with a few bands, like Iron Maiden and Guns N' Roses. Doesn't seem to have affected me with respect to Dream Theater.
Hi im Dan.
Im an Englander straight out of London, but with ambiguous hereditary roots.
I like many types of music, including Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal, Speed Metal, Power Metal, Heavy Metal, (or basically just any form of melodic metal), Synthpop, New Wave Romantics, 90s Britpop, Jazz/Funk/Blues, Classical and Folk.
Also like a fair bit of dance/techno/rave shit when the time is appropriate (drunk).
I'm not very consistant when it comes to obsessions, in that i'm very sporadic when it comes to taste. For example, I love metal but i'm not big on the metal community.
I do a bit of guitar. Would like to be in a band one day, but not necessarily a metal one, something that's diverse and progressive.
I have little ambition in life, other than to further my education, have a job I love and hopefully a loving family home.
I'm not weird like you guys lolz.

Surely some of the tr00 ones do?
If spewing up mucus and other forms of internal fluids is what makes them tic, which I guess pretty much is the case.
It helps with death grunts, for about 2 minutes (until it starts getting irritating).
I tried it...

I've just got a cold too. It's the most fucking annoying thing ever.
Sore throat, sniffly nose and a groggy voice. I fucking hate it.
It better shift soon.

And are you playing through a practice amp or somethin?
I've heard the albums.
Ive got a 20W amp, but my guitar lead is a bit torn and my microphone is shit.
And my guitar sucks too.
Why aren't Led Zeppelin metal?
They've got many characteristics of metal.
Classic metal i'd call them.

Just some simple improvisation of modes in D. Totally inspired by something Satriani did at G3. Getting back into guitar again and pumping up my calluses.
It's nothing technical or speedy, its got more mood and feeling.
I only used about 3 of my strings including the E string in drop D, because my lower e is snapped and most of my strings are so fucked up cos I swapped them around whenever they snapped so ive got some real fat strings lower down.
Sorry for the poor sound.
Wooo im drunk hey, my friend finshed his exams today so i went out with him to celebrate with drink.
Its well early, but im pissed.
Im listening to porcupin e tree, man theyre fucking awesome.
You dont need metal to have awesomeness!

I used to proper fancy that baby spice.
Dream Theater are the fuckest uppest.
Someone said to me that Symphony X were better than Dream Theater.
SHUT IT!
Romeo is always too busy eating cake and doughnuts to be as good as Petrucci.
Still, they're a great band...

It goes into modes and things in detail.. and so does my guitar teacher. It's fairly easy to understand.. but hard to explain (for me). I guess that's why I don't teach.
Hmm, that's the second time ive been recommended that book.
Seems like a good investment.

Aww haha. What, do you do Religion at A level, or what level are you at?
Ermm.. I dunno... what the fuck are modes?
Haha, you probably know what they are, just havent got into the theory bollocks.
It's the different parts of the major scale which are assigned to different root notes. Like say for example the E major scale (E Ionian) contains the F# Dorian, which is a different part of the same scale, but played in F# root note.
Complicated stuff.

One tomorrow, two on Monday :(.
Lol pwnd.
WHAT ZAM U DOING TOMORRWO!?
Well I had physics. Wasn't as bad as I expected :D
WHAT HAFF U HAD?
Learn the major and minor key in every way, all the notes like... and learn the theory behind those first. Then you can start building on your scale knowledge.
What, modes and shit?
At 6/20/07 05:51 PM, ChocloMan wrote: You can ask me, i know some theory. :D
Wanna learn the modes off by heart, and know when to use each one.
Do you ahve to see which notes of a chord progression are in a certain mode or something?
Lol ive got no more work to do, no more school for me ever.
What do I do?
My last exam tomorrow, and after that I am free to do my own shit, which includes getting back down to my guitaring.
So basically, what should I learn?
For developing speed and improving improvisation (i.e. scales to learn, chord progressions to which they apply).
I want some fucking musical theory thrown at me guys.
Infact I think we should talk more about it in here, other than just talking about hardware.
At 6/20/07 11:05 AM, Nev wrote: You expect the other Metal fans to understand that?
Haha, it was a rather stupid thing to say I guess.
Risk is awesome.
It's just not metal.
It's alright, except Vic has been murdered by an imposter.
Black Metal is awful.
Im sorry, it's just the way I feel.
Just full of ridiculous themes, lyrically and musically (I use "music" in the broadest sense of the word here).
Same as hardcore hardcore brutal death metal.
At 6/18/07 01:37 PM, Nev wrote: Who'd win in a pie eating contest?
Michael Romeo or Yngwie Malmsteen
That's a pretty tough question.
Have you seen that John Petrucci video where Yngwie is his roadie, and he has a booklet of Swedish recipies, and JP has his guitars treated by ultra-orange light to stop them from melting?
Hilarity.
Queensryche and Devin Townsend/devin Townsend Band recommendations plz :)

I always wondered what if your path crossed with a band like Immortal.
Like you're in the forest on a nice walk and you see them doing that shit.
Would they like eat your brains and shit?
