I put my library on random one time and I really didn't like it, so I have to listen to music by album because I listen to music depending on what type of music I want to listen to, and listening randomly fucks me up.
Haha, I got a new laptop recently, and havent managed to upload all my music onto it, so on my iTunes top 25 most played, all but 3 songs are by Dream Theater.
Im obsessed.

I enjoy laughing, at funny things.
Well this is all very mature.
I personally felt no loss at the news of her death but many people obviously did, and you can't have a go at them just for feeling upset. They may have been linked to her in many ways, through her charity work and whatnot.
Also she was a celebrit who died in horrific circumstances, and was viewed in many ways a bit suspicious. We're forgetting the Royal family is the epitome of keeping etiquette to the highest standards, so when someone invloved dies in a horrific car crash it's bound to stir up a fuss for a long time. Let's not forget all the other mysteries surrounding her life, with Diana letters being published.
It's the news' job to report any new installments in a case.
Just because an internet forum full of pathetic kids who wished they had as much attention are moaning about about something that is quite justified, doesn't mean the news has to listen to your uneducated opinion.
It's the same with all the Madeleine McCann rants. You're all pretty disgusting too with your lmae jokes.
I should have guessed the topic starter was scottish.
Haha Page was a pioneer you can't deny that. It's possible to hear guitarists who are technically better than him, but for people who were around in the Led Zeppelin days, and those who hail the band as one of the greats nowadays are justified in giving him the utmost respect and having him their favourite guitarist, as he paved the way in many respects.
I used to bum Slash, and yeah he really did look the part with the hair, hat, cigs on stage and the lovely-looking, low-hanging Les Paul guitars. But most of that band's job was looking the part. Looking back though I think it's funny that I thought so highly of that band that I thought they were the best band ever.
I don't mind them now, but I tired of them a long time ago. But back in the day I don't think many people would have complained, as they really were what rock n' roll was all about.
As for favourite DT songs/albums, that's a toughie. They really are all so unique it's hard to make a decision. For example I really like Train of Though even though many don't due to it's style. Same for Octavarium. A Change of Seasons is a masterful song, but not on an album, mind you the live covers they have on that LP are pretty enjoyable. A lot of people say I&W, but I think it's really generic and boring to say that. The album is a masterpiece of course, but it's hard for me to rate it above all of their other stuff. I think it's because they are actually so progressive.
I havent heard When Day and Dream Unite or Falling INto Infinity, but judging by what i've seen people say I wouldn't judge them aove any other album.
I prefer to judge by individual song when it comes to DT.
And sorry for the lengthy passages, that's the way I play im afraid :P
I got into DT through NG. There's a user, 1 (Nev I think I saw you mention that your bird knows him, small world :P), he was recommending me some progressive stuff because he's really into that.
He mentioned stuff like Tool, Coheed & Cambria, Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. I wasn't big on C&C, and thus far I haven't checked out Tool, but im happy i've gotten into DT and PT, awesome bands.
But yeah, I downloaded the Octavarium album and I thought The Root of All Evil was breath-taking, and I got sucked in straight away. But then it got into The Answer Lies Within and I was like "what the hell?!"
It's not that I don't like the song, I think it's great, but I was quite new to the whole progressive thing and it seemed quite a leap from the first heavy song. Also took me some getting used to LaBrie's voice. At that time in my life I was still very much a Heavy Metal lover, and was expecting more "leather-lunged" vocals.
Anyway I thought Octavarium was a very unique album, at least it was for me just getting into that type of music. I like all the hidden secrets and patterns behind it. BUt even though it isn't there best album I thought it was pretty damn fantastic when I first heard it, and I still love it to this day.
Then I checked out Scenes From A Memory, which was a very bizzare experience to me. I'll admit - I didn't quite like it at first. I didn't get the whole concept idea, and the music was quite different from Octavarium. Like I said, I was very new to the progressive stuff. This is why I kinda sympathise with Bahamut about his dislike towards it, but now I realise he's just being a plain arsehead about it, because I gave it another listen once just as background music really, didn't pay it much attention, but then I heard The Dance of Eternity and was blown away, especially at the bit with the ragtime piano solo. I think it was at that point I really got the whole progressive thing, and now I realise it's such a versatile means of performance.
So naturally I checked out their other albums. I thought i'd listen to Score to get a broader taste of their music. Even though a lot of the Octavarium songs are on it, it still gave me a better view of how sporadic their music is. Then I heard the live version of Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence. I was amazed at it's duration, and thought the song was absolutely incredble. It didn't seem to make sense to me how much it progressed. I think I really started to love it when I heard Solitary Shell. There's so much emotion in the Score version, with the orchestra and everything.
Now i've got pretty much all the albums, and it's really interested me how progressive they are. I'd listened to Pink Floyd and stuff before but I still didn't really understand what progression was.
Dream Theater made it very clear!

I say u should jog 4 to 5 times a week if u say its just a bit of fat u need to get rid of and u should jog at least 3 miles.
It's pretty annoying really because I don't eat crap food. If I do have a big meal I only have one a day, but usually I eat smaller portions more frequently with plenty of fruit in between. However the past few weeks i've had a lot of beer, some junky food and no exercise. Pretty bad of me >:(
It probably wont take long to get rid of the excess that I got, but I need a way of getting my metabolism to do whatever shit it does to prevent weight gain so quickly.
So what do I do?
Fuck sake, i've got a beer belly during the summer. I need to loose a few kilos.
I've got a bit of muscle now, on the arms and around the abdomen, just got a bit of a sheet of fat infront of it now.
Need to get back into the jogging. How much do you think I should do?
I think some metalcore is alright, but im only talking about very little that I have heard (which may not be proper metalcore for all I know).
I think some of the guitar squeals are awesome.
But if most metalcore is like Trivium then it must suck.
You lot would probably laugh at me for listening to the following:
Blur
Coldplay
David Bowie
Depeche Mode
Duran Duran
Elton John
Kasabian
Keane
Michael Jackson
Oasis
Pulp
Robbie Williams
Super Furry Animals
Supergrass
Toploader
U2
The Verve
I don't like to refer to them as guilty pleasures because i'm not embarrased about them.
Well I thought i'd do that top ten that everyone seems to have done.
It might take a while to think about. Although number ne is quite obvious for me:
10) Stream of Conciousness
9) A Mind Beside Itself
8) Home
7) Sacrificed Sons
6) In the Presence of Enemies
5) Metropolis Pt 1
4) Octavarium
3) The Glass Prison
2) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
1) A Change of Seasons
This is based only on what I have heard. Despite being a big fan, i've not heard their debut album or Falling Into Infinity.
But it's my firm believe that A Change of Seasons is their magnum opus.

It's on the cards. Portnoy said that one of the reasons Repentance is more ballad-like is because during a future AA set they'd need a bit of a break in the suite from intense music playing, as is present in the rest of the suite.
He also mentioned he'd like two have a live album of just the suite. Wether this would be another "official bootleg", I don't know.
As for Systematic Chaos, 'd sayh my least favourite track is Constant Motion. It's an ok track I admit, but there's clearly much better songs on the album. Forsaken is brilliant though. Not too technical or anything, and I love the guitar squeals on the main riff.

Good thing with the system is that you can resit as many times as the exams are available. I did some of them 3 times, but not because they were awful; it's sometimes helful just to up the grade for the best possible mark.
This is for people who have just sat their A level exams (and AS if you wanna join) in May and June.
Tomorrow is results day, and for many of us it is a judgement day. Failure to meet the desired level of achievement will mean disaster for some of us, messing up an easy path into further education.
So, you bricking it enough?
I don't need very high grades myself, just three Bs, but I can't be sure what to expect.
Whatever happens, a great piss up is on the agenda for tomorrow.

Obviously not. Some mainstream music often concentrates alot on popular culture, in places where they can earn respect under false pretences, such as charity work. These are other sorts of beliefs that bands use to up their profile. These are equally ridiculous, except suppose in the opposite scale.
You can say metal in general is linked to drop outs, heroine and coke addicts, sexaholics, suicides, school shootings, and fiends. And thats involving every stereotype BUT black metal. Does it make the point valid I can clip out some newpaper headings that involve these things and linked them, and therefor the rest of metal is stupid?
If thats the case, and if you want to believe shit that easily and run with a generalisation as if it is pure fact for every individual or band or fan, then metal is just ran by failures and lunatics and no one should listen to it. However, as a bunch of metalheads here, we could easily see beyond what makes news, linking to an obvious culprit, and what the music has always been about.Or whatever the reason it is for a genre.
A few norwegian black bands that do some shit for their culture doesn't represent everything about black metal. Compare tons of Death metal bands, and don't tell me they all write and sing and believe in the same thing and then have a huge party as one collective and practice the unprofounded!
I never followed Black metal much, but I can still say there is way a lot more to it than a few big names you heard caught burning churchs awhile for religious statements against christianity. You are caught up in a media outlook on it, which is the same reason why most parents get freaked out if their kids listen to any type of metal. Sure, there are a lot of bands in all genres that kinda stick to pretty blunt "insane" messages for real reasons they believe, but everything is perspective in the end. A crazy band or two doesnt make up for everyone.
I'm trying not to generalise by using different excuses. I've explored a lot of different music, and Black and Death metal have always repulsed me in various ways. But I haven't found as much crazyness in other forms of music as much as I have in Black Metal. I cant deny that general views of metal held me back for a long time, as I had beliefs that all metal was what the basic view of Black Metal is. Nobody can say that Black Metal isnt surrounded in a hoisin of crazy beliefs though, as well as metal in genral if im honest.
But to be fair, when you explore a new genre of music, you look at the big names. These are the sort of bands I checked out, and they all pretty much have similar beliefs, as in the ones im slating. And you get the fans of these bands who agree and talk some idiotic shit. If you're an underground black metal band which may represent the majority, unlucky. Why are they underground? The fans make up for alot of what is popular in black metal aswell.
And yeah, these "few" crazy bands come in large enough numbers.
And even I couldnt call black metal a crappy genre, for musical reasons, even though I hardly listen to it. They just have a sound Im not as appealed to as others, but I can respect a lot of elements to it, technical and musical wise. And even then is generalising. Since not all black metal sounds at all alike sometimes especially.
My belief in this issue doesn't only concentrate on the culture of black metal. I dont think the music is good at all. Like I said, I checked out the popular black metal bands and I found them all to be awful. For example, Immortal dont have satanic themes and shit, but I still thought they were rubbish.
I dont think it can be justified to say that there is a need to listen to underground bands, as popular artists in any genre must be doing something right themselves, but unfortunately it doesnt appeal to me.

I've never really liked Black Metal, but i've been interested in how inane and outlandish some of the concepts are. Plus it's one of the worst kinds of sound i've ever heard.
It's not really generalising either. I've read a lot about Black Metal as it happens. The fact that he isn't being serious doesn't prove that Black Metal is pretty damn stupid. I mean it's full of lunatics linked with murder, violence and church burnings. That just takes it too far if you ask me, spreading fear across the community in that sort of way.
I don't like any aspect of Black Metal. It's like they use these ideologies and causes to hide behind because their music is crap.
Anyone seen that metal documentary, "A Headbanger's Journey"?
It was hilarious. What I found funny were some of the general fan interviews, but when it got to the Norweigan Black Metal section it become just over the top, weird and stupid.
There were comments made about rival bands not being true etc. Some cunts were condoning church burning. It was really disturbing.
Not as much as an interview with that Gaahl dude, though. The guy is fucking deranged. Look at this cunt:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU2Z7Q_FA yA
The guy is just pure evil, but he's pretty shite, with all the demeaning stare and unecessary silence. I mean, this guy is mental, right?
Black metal is retarded.
Trivium are not even comparible to SFAM. That's just ridiculous. I bet you've just heard it a couple of times because no DT fan can have such a gay opinion about SFAM.
And i've been away cos i've been living it up summer style. Hardly no time for internets these days :P
I've never known anyone to hate an album so much while the majority of the population of fans agree that it's great.
I can't comprehend how it can be loathed so much while the rest of their music is considered good at the same time.
Someone's retarded some where along the line, and I think it's obvious...

Oh i agree, the Order film was brilliant. And I agree with you on Goblet.
Also Michael Gambon is gay. He's:
A - Too young to be Dumbledore.
B - Too angry to be Dumbledore.
C - Looks too dirty and untrusting... wouldn't put it past him to be a paedophile.
D - He's not Ian McKellan! He'd be a much better Dumbledore.
I thought Gambon was awful in Goblet, far too angry and shouty, like when Harry got through to the tournament. He was better in the other two he's been in. More mysterious.
