I suppose that's fair enough. Dream Theater aren't that heavy alot of the time, in the sense that they don't have a lot of tracks which are predominantly or totally heavy.

Response to: Dream Theater Crew Posted March 14th, 2007 in Clubs & Crews

Dream Theater confirmed for Download.

Not sure if it's worth going yet. Only a few bands i'd really wanna see:

Megadeth
Dream Theater
Iron Maiden

I really don't see what you guys like so much about them.

They're all geniuses with their instruments. Like proper virtuosos.

You've got your normal metal, with awesome guitarists and that, with crunchy, filthy, god-like riffs. Awesome.

But then there's Dream Theater. Sheer musical wonderment. They all know their instruments so well, and not only compose great songs, but more often than not great masterpieces, like those classical compositions which we look back on.

There's something about Dream Theater that levels them higher than most other rock and metal bands that i've heard.
At first though I was unsure, especially with James' vocals. I was expecting more harsh vocals which are usually apparent in the metal genres, but his voice is much more versatile.
Plus i've grown to love their epic concept albums and various imagery aswell as the music, and the lyrics are so powerful.
I know it sounds pretentious, but they really are pure awesomeness.

Im getting very excited, although im also worried the review may not be very impartial.

Nevertheless I can wait.

I didn't like it. Too avant-garde for me, I don't like all those cultural artistic movies. They always come off as a bit pretentious to me, and it annoys me when people go about saying how they're masterpieces, like the critic type people who think foreign films are good.
I would call Clockwork Orange a masterpiece.

But then again im not much of a film boff, and maybe im missing something that everyone else seems to be seeing.

I liked it. I dunno maybe I have a broader taste, im not sure, but I find it quite enjoyable to listen to, because im currently going through a phase where I dont mind listening to some pop every now and then, but it's mostly pop from my early childhood, nostalgia and all that.

Its coming installed on my new laptop i'll be getting for uni, so im fine with it and it wont pose a problem like it would if I installed it on this PC.

I think anyone who buys the installer and puts it on their already working PC is stupid, and shouldn't be suprised if it dissapoints.
Also, I wouldnt run riot and cry about how much you hate the little extras.

Im sure there's plenty of technical upgrades that have been implemented underneath all the fancy asthetics of the user interface.

No way is Manchester more central. If you think about where most of the english users live, it's mostly from Manchester downwards. Hardly anyone lives further up than any point on the same level as the tip of Wales.

So Manchester is not central in respect to the NG users, it's just a few lazy bastards from Manchester can't be arsed going anywhere else? Have you considered Birmingham? Leicester? No I bet you haven't.

There's no way im going to Manchester, and im sure others feel the same, because I for one don't wanna have the worry of getting back home before getting stabbed.

I'm not interested in that aspect of theory. I'm more interested in the science of the scales and such. As opposed to just memorising the scale patterns.

What i've always wondered is how every note in a scale pattern is "compatible" with the chord that the pattern plays over, and every other note "sounds bad" as it were.

We did some stuff on harmonics in Physics, and every different harmonic of the same note have frequencies which are multiples of the original note's own frequency.
