in my opinion, smuding to shade is a no-no. if you want to prevent smuding you can either wear wool gloves, have an other paper over your hand, or just work from one side to the other, depending on what hand you are using.

i really like your drawing though, id try to get more depth in it though, right now it looks like the mountains are as close as the trees in the foreground

i like it better as well, but i think you made it a tad to dark this time. i dont know though, it might just be me. i also think you cropped it a down too much, id like to see more of his awesomeness. none the less, great work!

well, the size of the head is far too big, and her upper body is too long

i tried to fix it up a bit, i dont know if it will help you out but you might get an idea, not saying what i did is perfect though.
