NG locked me out of my account because it didn't load properly and sent an email to god knows where (I signed up 10 years ago), but I am adrshepard.

Yeah, you are. Saying that someone is female even though he has a penis goes against all common sense. Saying that just because a guy likes flowers, plays with dolls, or loves Justin Beiber music that he is now a female makes absolutely no sense.

Uh, what? Issues with gender identity affect a wide range of people. LOTS of people. People who are transgender are not the only ones that have to invest time and effort into finding the comfortable expressions of their own gender. There are non-gender-binary/genderqueer/agender people. It's not a two dimensional, single axis gradient. And yes, a person's self conception can have an effect on others, as it can directly challenge your own presupposed notions of gender identity.

Utter nonsense. I am a male. That is beyond dispute. Whether I want to abide by culturally defined gender stereotypes is another question. I can choose to follow none or all of them, but I will be a male regardless, even if I end up as an effeminate one.

Evidence of what, pray tell?

Evidence of some sort of neurological symptom or imbalance that distinguishes or otherwise indicates transgenderism. Oh, I'm sure you can dig up some study that finds some correlations, but they aren't causal among themselves.
The most important evidence against its existence is that, unlike in homosexuality, where the exact biological cause is still not known with certainty, transgenderism has no outward manifestation; no biological response (like arousal) in reaction to stimuli. All that we are left with is the person's insistence that he is not of his born sex. However, there is no possible way for him to describe such a condition. Gender, as opposed to sex, is not an innate condition, but an artificial construction based upon external influences.

Trans peeps aren't the holy ambassadors of gender identity. They also don't have any responsibility to validate their gender identities to you, nor are they solely found dwelling in the natural habitat of 'internet comment feeds'.

Of course they are asking for validation. They want themselves to be likened to homosexuals, born a certain way and unable to change their behavior. But homosexuality is defined by a single trait: arousal to members of the same sex. Anyone can understand the basic premise, even if we find the image of two guys screwing each other disgusting. Transgenderism is defined by who knows what? The presence of a "feeling" that can't be objectively assessed, quantified, or demonstrated? If anything, it's a neurological disorder, and just like a person who suffers from Tourette's or Schizophrenia, I doubt it's so easy for them to compartmentalize that aspect of themselves and fit in with the rest of society. A gay man is only distinguished by his biological urges, and that's not something that comes up in public.

Uh, no it doesn't, it says the prevalence ranges anywhere between .018% to .2% of all births, which equates to between 1,260,000 to 14,000,000 intersex people alive today. You're only off by several orders of magnitude. But that's irrelevant, isn't it? You still didn't answer the question. If you want to enforce strict gender binaries, then what bathroom should an intersexed person use?

He should use whichever bathroom is designed for his junk. If the person has absolutely no gender-specific characteristics whatsoever other than what the doctor decided with post-delivery surgery, then why should he (or it) care one way or the other? Of course, if he grows lactating breasts and a uterus, he should probably sue the doctor for a sex change, cause then it's just a medical screwup.

If people are going to make an issue out of somebody who has not undergone SRS using a bathroom, they are going to make a big deal out of somebody who has undergone SRS using a bathroom.

Well, in an elementary school, damn right they should. But elsewhere? No one really cares. I doubt most people would even notice or care once they did. Personally, if I were using a urinal and a "girl" came up and peed out of some dick prosthetic (if they're even functional; I don't want to know), it would probably gross the shit out of me and I'd re-evaluate my surroundings to see if I hadn't interrupted some gathering of sex fiends. Call me old fashioned, but I am perfectly comfortable using the label freak on anyone who would staple some pig tissue (or whatever they hell they use) in the shape of a dick onto her body. If that limits my choice of friends, so be it.
