You use them in exactly the same way as you would in real maths.

Math.sin(), Math.cos(), Math.tan(), Math.atan() (inverse), Math.asin(), Math.acos(). But they work in radians instead of degrees.

If the reason you don't want to rotate the movieclip is because it contains other things you don't want to rotate with it, you could always create a seperate MC inside the main one where the Bitmap is kept and rotate that one.

I hate that argument. It's like saying "How about you try directing a film before you call a film shit". I think people have every right to say flashes are shit, but I agree that the reviews are for constructive critisism only.

I was thinking that but than again...It's very illegal...and messed up.

It's not 'very illegal'. Most flash authors don't mind if their content is taken. and even if they do mind, it's barely similar to theft. It's more like taking a piece of paper from someones notepad without asking.

At 5/7/07 09:25 AM, Rohedin wrote: Yup, that's right, im making a windows Emulator and I need ideas! If you have absolutley no Idea what i'm on about then click me.

Here's an idea. When the flash is loading it looks like the windows start up screen. Then it goes to a screen which looks like windows. It has some icons and a start button. If you click the start button, a menu pops up with things like my computer, my documents, and a few 'propgrams' etc. Things you can do on it is open a paint program, where you can draw stuff, save it and print, a word document with an annoying paperclip where you can write, save and print. Then there's a few working games like solitaire and hearts which people can play. Then in my documents, have a few files that can be opened in the word 'program' you made for it, and paint program. Then theres my pictures where you have a few pictures and stuff. Then have a recycle bin where it has loads of files that have been deleted.

Or better yet, just have a blank screen with the words "Switch your computer off. Then switch it back on and pretend its my windows parody. Awesome isn't it!"

Greedy? If you haven't noticed, adobe is the one constantly charging hundreds of dollars for a version of flash which is only a tiny bit better than the last (not including the step up from 8 to CS).

Its good that they've got competition now.

You talk about microsoft trying to monopolise the market, but to be fair, flash already has a monopoly over the animation/online gaming market. They haven't abused their monopoly powers too much, but its going to make it very hard for microsoft to successfully enter the market. Although microsoft have got the big name and lots of money to compete. However, it will be impossible to sink flash. If microsoft was to take over the market, they'd have to bring down newgrounds, ebaumsworld, ugoplayer, miniclip and loads of other sites.

I think the only thing that could come from this is extremely low prices from both parties in order to attempt to knock the other out of the market. In which case, I'll get both.

I think retro arcade is better, but fire will probably get you a higher score on NG. Perhaps it would be cool if it was in retro-arcade style, but then when you get power ups it goes to fire mode and plays some heavy metal music for like 10 seconds.

Why are the dimensions exclusive of eachother in that model?

What do you mean by exclusive? That x, y and z thing is just showing the dimensions like you'd show x and y on a 2D graph. They're not exclusive if by that you mean something can only go in the x, y, or z direction. The arow pointing at the screen is just showingthat you need something travelling in the z direction to be able to see the projected image. It doesn;t have to be exactly perpendicular to the z axis, but still needs to use it.

Juggling balls
Anyone got any juggling balls they can sell me? I only have 3, and my satsuma isn't doing me justice as my fourth ball (No point in any of you even trying to make that sound any more dirty). Anyway, juggling balls on ebay are too expensive. I'd rather have a second hand one that i can get for cheap. Preferably one thats red, green, yellow and blue (4 sections) about 120g and 66mm.

Give me your balls!

At 5/6/07 05:03 PM, StephanosGnomon wrote: Cybex and EndGame, you both need to learn what "projecting" actually means.

I'm perfectly aware of what projection is. I understand that a 3D shape can be projected onto a 2D plane, and so have no doubt that a 4D object can be projected onto a 3D space.
However, it is impossible to see a 2D projection of a 3D object without a 3rd dimension. Look at the picture below (fig1.). Imagine the green square is a 2D projection of a 3D image. You still need that z axis to be able to see the projection. If you were in a 2D world, you wouldn't be able to see the projection.

Those tesseracts on wikipedia just show the idea behind what a 4th dimension is. They don't actually show what it would look like. Those pictures are as much a projection of a 3D image as fig2. is a projection of a cube onto a 1D line for 2D people to see.

The fourth dimension!

That's like saying you can't project a 3D solid onto a 2D plane.

You can, but you need to have a 3rd dimension to see the 2D projection. You can't see a drawing on a piece of paper if you're on the same plane as the piece of paper. Therefore you can project a 4D image in a 3D space, but you need to have a 4th dimension to be able to see it.

If you're saying "oh but we can't REALLY see them... like, in real life", then no shit, I already know that. That doesn't mean we can't project 4D objects into 3D and 2D representations though.

Does.
