I've been looking to buy the Intuos Pen tablet for a while now, for like stick figure animations, do you think its necessary?

I've been struggling to mask a weapon being stabbed for 2 frickin months now. I've seen many tutorials but they do not explain full steps and such. Can anyone explain it to me or send a video or game tutorial thing?

I'm working on a Madness Combat animation, and by the looks of it, everyone divides each part of the body into a single layer. Is it really that necessary to make a good Madness Combat animation?
