We adopted a black cat that was stray and fierce. They used to torture him in the playground. My mum kept him in a room by himself, and she'd come in occasionally and just sit by the door. The cat would be aware that she was there, but he wouldn't come near. Slowly, over time, he began to come out from under the bunk bed, and trust her.

About a week later he was sleeping in the living room.
