I consider Adolf Hitler more of a blundering fool than a terrible monster.
Far from blundering; opportunistic and ruthless.
He didn't start a war in the name of killing jews; his initial advance was into the demilitarised Rhineland, testing the waters; had the British or French shown the slightest discomfort in the form of an army, it would have nipped it in the bud.
WW2 was caused as much by Hitler's intentions, namely the restore Germany to it's former glory, and to 'purify' the Arian race; I'll take this moment to point out that Jewish people were not the first on his list; anyone deemed to have a disability or a disorder of any sort were dealt with as coldly and efficently as the Jews.
WW2 was caused as much by his intentions and actions, as by our fear and inability to act; Britain sought to give in to Hitler's demands in the hope that he had set goals in mind and once achieved, would be satisifed. (This is speculation) but he had no master plan. Czechsolovakia had outer areas that once belonged to Germany; he initially took these, then thought 'fuck it', I'm having the whole thing.
As was previously, and correctly, posted, his decision to attack the Russians was his downfall; a frighteningly swift advance through Russia, halted by the even more frightening Russian winter. That's right; WW2 stopped by Russia being so damn cold? Seems like it (speculation/joke)
Oh, and Hitler drew inspiration from Mussolini, who tore apart the League of Nations (set up after the first world war), by exposing the Allies inability to stand up to true, raw aggression. Apologies for the long post, but the ignorance in this thread, with a few exceptions, is remarkable.
