Chic 'n' Stu by System of a Down.

However, my phone is usually with sound off, so it just vibrates.

Response to: Resetting the camera Posted August 3rd, 2010 in Game Development

If I understand you right, you want to reset the cam is if VCam was never used, right?

In that case, simply move the Vcam. If your flash dimensions are 550x400 then this script:

_root.VCam._width = 550;
_root.VCam._height = 400;
_root.VCam._x = 275:
_root.VCam._y = 200; //Assuming that the registration point on the VCam is in the middle

That should work.

Response to: Maksing only works on 1 movie clip? Posted July 13th, 2010 in Game Development

Well, as things seems now, I don't have any elements in the game with moving platforms.

Sucks you just gave me the idea for that. But I suppose if I get around to that, I'll make a special movie clip, that already has the texture, and doesn't need to be stretched.

You don't have to understand the above, I'm really bad at explaining. The short answer is NO, the platforms are static.

Thank you.

Response to: Maksing only works on 1 movie clip? Posted July 13th, 2010 in Game Development

Well, it seems that when I stretch the movie clips, the texture is stretched as well, when using bitmap fill. That was why I wanted to use masking. It's the same movie clip I use, you see.

Response to: Maksing only works on 1 movie clip? Posted July 13th, 2010 in Game Development

I don't, I just need the texture not to be stretched with the MC Platform.

Response to: Maksing only works on 1 movie clip? Posted July 13th, 2010 in Game Development

Well, I don't actually want them purple. It was for this example. I want them with a texture, that I've gotten made by a friend. But I can't put it on the movie clip, because I stretch the platforms, so I want to just make them a background, and mask it.

Response to: Maksing only works on 1 movie clip? Posted July 13th, 2010 in Game Development

Seems like it works if I break them apert. That just doesn't work for my game.
Any suggestions? :(

But only one of them turns purple :/

Couldn't include the second picture.

It depends on what layer you have them on and if it is above or below the object, do you have a screenshot of your time line layers?

The blue platforms are all on the top mask layer.
The purple background is on the bottom mask layer.
When both are locked, all the platforms should turn purple, right?

I will post what happens...

Maksing only works on 1 movie clip?

I'm doing some masking, but it seems that the mask only works for 1 object?

Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

Number 3. Never know what will happen, but there's no way it can be worse than one of the others.

Response to: Inverted masking? Posted June 2nd, 2010 in Game Development

Make a big black box covering the whole platform. Then use eraser tool as the brush. That's what I would do, but of course I don't know your intentions with this.

If you look at someone's nose while lying, it wil appear to them as if you're looking them in the eyes. It may be harder lying when looking someone in the eyes.

This is also a really good idea.

See???. If we had an edit feature, I wouldn't have to double post now.

Yeah, I've seen another forum where you could only edit your post for 24 hours. In that forum, people released stuff, so they had to make a new thread everytime they updated their software. Anyways,
I think that's a good idea, that you would only be able to edit your post for a few minutes, because mainly when I would need it, if I posted and then realised there's something wrong with the post. It seems better than double posting, in my opinion.

Just read through your post before posting, it's that simple.

True. I was just wondering, I've even seen Tom double post because he wrote something wrong in the first post.

I've noticed quite a few times, that the BBS doesn't have an edit feature. Just wanted to know if there is any specific reason for this, or if Tom, or who else manages the BBS, was simply too lazy to make one?

I play guitar, along with a bunch of other instruments, and I think the bass is really important both in music and in a band. People saying you rarely hear the bass are wrong. Maybe you don't really notice it, but if you heard the same piece of music without the bass, it would simply not be the same. I don't think bassists get as much credit as they deserve.

Will do.

False information in FAQ Posted May 14th, 2010 in General

In the FAQ section, under levels, it reads:
"Levels 1 through 8 are static in that their level requirements and range remain fixed; each is 50 experience points apart."

This is untrue. Many will notice that already between level 4 and 5 (my current situation) there is 80 points apart.

That sentence should be removed from the FAQ as it is false information, which is not a good idea to have where people who are new to the community will look for answers.

You know, when you double click a movie clip on the scene, flash makes this cool effect to "zoom" in on the movie clip. For other people, this appears to happen in a second, but on my computer, it laggs heavily while moving, and it takes ages to open the movie clip fully, allowing editing.

This is my problem, and I'd be very grateful if someone could help me out.

Thanks!

What is probably happening is that you found the one-in-a-million flash movie that happens to have that string in the compiled code, and your virus software is returning a false positive.

You sound smart. I'll go with this.

(Yes, it was crypted.GEN and I suppose that AntiVir does it too then).

Virus in flash? Posted May 10th, 2010 in General

This may sound like an extremely stupid question. I wouldn't think it was possible until like a few minutes ago either.

I loaded up a flash that was under judgement, and seconds later, my antivirus pops up saying its found a "Encrypted.Gen" or something along those lines. Concerned, I press remove like anyone would do, reload the page to see if it was the flash that was causing the virus. The flash wouldn't load. The white screen and the only right click option 'Flash not loaded'.

I know flash is able to open up websites, which could contain a virus. I saw some of the users other games, which appearently was clean, but minutes later, he has already uploaded another game, with a suspicious description and simply a black background on the flash. Nothing to do, not even what the description said.

Does anyone know if it's possible, and did anyone else see the flash?

(I made a thread asking about when to report as stolen, and I was informed that I shouldn't include links to the flashs in question, in case they are clean, they might get banned for an unfair reason. Try checking the current judgements if you want to see).
