Honestly...he wasn't supposed to make it past 200 wins, and now he's about 60something wins past that plateau...so you never know, he may just have it in him to gut out two or three more years to get to 300 (doubtful, but hey).

We'll find ourselves willing him to get there in the end. Just come back for one more season, Jamie.

He's starting to burn out a little, but he's an all star now, so perhaps that will include a skipped start, so that he allows himself to get back some of his early season form.

Hughes is one of the ones that has been lucky enough to get to stay around a couple years, but Girardi is a guy who knows what he's doing with pitchers as an ex-catcher.

Yeah, but look at the pedigree that they must follow: Jeter, Posada, Pettitte and Rivera being the obvious ones, but also Cano, Gardner and Cervelli could be the start of a new trifecta of talent that leads us to great things over the next decade or so.

The thing is, we're not trying to combine the two forums - segregation has a well formed purpose here. To enable people looking for help to actually find it. These threads move downwards slowly, so the advisors come along and see questions that they can answer, so they do.

Maybe that would put an end to "LOL shud i sleep with mah sistar?" threads.

I'm trying to, but it really is a mountain of turds to deal with one piece at a time.

You might just need a port polish, to get the most out of the engine. After all, the DeLorean does carry a lot of excess weight.

Didn't they install restrictor plates on the carburettors of those things to prevent them from reaching 88mph? Might just have been me.

Finally, are you sure you're generating 1.21 Gigawatts of electricity? Plutoniam isn't readily obtainable from Lybians these days, but Iran and North Korea seem to be doing deals at present.

It's so the Wi/Ht? users can use another place to dump their stupidly long convos.

We don't always use quote chains, you know Gagsy. Sometimes, we use the epic monologue:

And so, the forces of the Where is / How to forum did march over to the infested lands of General. Their weapons were lowered in gestures of non-violence. As a twisted wretch launched itself at the group, Fro stepped forward smartly, connecting the butt of his rifle with what would normally be a chin, lifting it clear off the ground.

Replacing his pistol in the holster, Coop stepped forward and offered the hand of acceptance to a few users, willing to throw off the taint of memes, one liners and 1337. The sun peeked out from behind the clouds and was obscured momentarily, as Bahamut flew overhead, depositing aid packages of stats across the landscape.

A satellite user detached them self from Gagsy and ran towards the bountiful package, escorting it back to his mistress. Sitting in her bunker in no-man's land, she viewed the conflict with ambivalence, jealous of the ideals and organisation that was shown, but she was still very much at home in General. Wistfully, she cast her gaze skyward at the Lord of Dragons, who swooped and dived gracefully overhead.

As the crowds started to gather, another case, seeking dominance of the junk heap came running at Coop, with a rudimentary assault rifle. Swiftly, as Coop was talking with other individuals, he drew his gun and leveled the would be assassin with one neatly placed shot to the shoulder, forcing him to drop the gun. Soon afterwards, Auz and Haggard moved in to neutralise the wannabe.

"We can all make General a much better place to be - one user at a time. Start with yourselves and keep your own court to judge only yourself. Are you doing the best you can for Newgrounds? We seek not to rule you, but to help you rule yourselves. Go forth my children, my friends, my bretheren. Spread the word!" A cheer went up from the converts and the masses went forth to begin the clean up of General.

It has begun, my friends. Believe it.

Here's a fun fact: When Afro_Stud created the Top 100 Responses List thread, I was ranked 26 initially and here I am at #26 for total responses.

Wow! I didn't expect you to get this list up so fast. You mentioned it only a few days ago and here it already is.

Adapting a spreadsheet isn't creating one from scratch. I took the usernames from my Flash Responses; Haggard's Audio Responses and reverend's Art Reviews lists and went from there. The main time-consuming part was the writing of the links, where I had to type everyone's username in twice, but that didn't take too long. You're talking 2 hours work to get it all going. Stat pull was minutes and it all fell together nicely.

I think thanks are in order for byteslinger, reverend, Sonofkirk, Haggard, and of course you for having the drive to get everyone together for this project(hopefully I didn't miss anybody). You will definitely have your work cut out for you to keep this in order especially since you said you wanted to expand it.

Yeah, it's a case of making the tables for the highest and lowest response rates and then the top gainers for the month.

Haha yeah I hear many people are angry over that and hate Luis Suarez now. I think it was a fairly clever move and I most likely would have done the same. Ghana gained the ultimate opportunity afterwards to win the game, but they failed to score the penalty so I think they only got themselves to blame for their elimination. However, I don't like how they should parade Suarez around either, because it is sort of cheating and shouldn't be rewarded/encouraged in any way.

Exactly - FIFA needs to make rules to deal with this eventuality. In the days when one of the most respected umpires can cost a young pitcher a perfect game in baseball, a good angle to view the ball still means that he's the only man in the stadium that didn't see the goal (We wouldn't have gone further than that round, but it's the principle!) and yet a tennis player can challenge a line call and have a decision in seconds.

On the bright side though, Uruguay has even less of a chance to make it to the finals now that they are missing one of their star players.

It makes little difference.

I wonder how it would have turned out if we had Beckham playing...
Would that have made a difference? I don't know, that guy is almost 36 by now (?), is way past his peak and was never such a great player to begin with if you ask me. He could take wonderful free kicks, but that's about it for him.

He'd have still worked harder than most of the players on the pitch. That's the thing about him - his work rate.

Alex Ferguson; Arsene Wenger?
Are they arrogant pricks? I never hear that many bad things about them. I know van Persie liked Wenger very much because he gave him the chance to grow and become such a great player.

Ferguson kicked a boot in the dressing room and hit Beckham in the face with it. Wenger is a bigger whiner about referees than Jose. They'd booth be beaten into a cocked hat by Brian CLough - the greatest manager that England never had.

1) If the NG admins want a bot, they would create one, without needing to give credit to anyone at all.

2) The original thread was a poor concept. I'm locking this because it's a similarly poor concept and we really do need a respite from recreated threads.

Well, you can use your hands in football when you're not a goalie, but you have to face the consequences after - in that case, a penalty shot. The Ghana player wasn't competent enough to score it, so...

Yeah, but look at it this way - the Uruguayans carried the offender around the pitch like a national hero, after the match. Doesn't this condone cheating from FIFA's standpoint? Poor decisions on their part, I'm afraid and we're looking at a pretty bad World Cup for them.

That would be great. ;P "Launch the Webber"? With multiple cars ahead? Sure thing!
I was thinking more with Webber awarded points for striking advertising hoardings in mid-air, style points for flips, points for distance, height, seagulls killed, tyre barriers cleared etc and gradually improve it through the GP season. 19 races to get into space.
Ha, much better! And a bonus for safety cars wrecked, as well as mad team-mates. :P

Explosives! Rampant Koala Bears in Australia! Is it silly enough yet?

Also, LOL at the Islanders trying to land Kovalchuck. :P
Could be a very smart move for them - Kovy and Tavares, with Okposo on the other wing? Should be fun if that happens.
That would be great, yet unlikely to happen. He's probably going to LA, it seems...

LA's out of the talks. My money is firmly back with the Devils.

But we have to re-sign Sean Bergenhein. He's a pretty good left winger, I think he was our blue-liner last season...

Not a bad player, but we'll see if he's got some teammates that could cope with Philly's pretty solid looking D for next year...

Thanks for the update, Bahamut. I'm now in the top 20, so that's great. Just over a week's worth of B/Ping and I should be up to #19, by passing Phantom.

The semi-final seems to be a rather easy one on paper, but I thought the same thing about the quarter-final against Russia two years ago (which we lost 3-1).
Yeah and the same thing was said about Federer in the quarter finals at Wimbledon :P
I got a feeling that the current team will be able to keep their heads cool this time though. Most of the current players were there in 2008 and have probably learned their lesson.

Well, Uruguay shouldn't have been there, you should be facing Ghana - that handball was ridiculous and the goal should have stood - it was a certain goal and in Rugby, the team would have been awarded a penalty-try: they would have taken advantage of the stupidity that the player showed. Instead, the Uruguayans paraded him around on their shoulders like he was a national hero.

Fucking disgraceful.

Perhaps that's where the England managers go wrong - afraid to drop the prima donas.
Yeah, I think Italy made the same mistake. They still brought players like Cannavaro from the winning 2006 team, but at his age (almost 37) he has obviously passed his peak a loooong time ago. I wouldn't say the English players have passed their peak yet, but you shouldn't be afraid to substitute your star players if they are underperforming.

I wonder how it would have turned out if we had Beckham playing...

He's the footballing equivalent of Axl Rose - too mouthy. He told Pele to fuck off to the museum. Perhaps he should consider the same thing? After all, he's only remembered for being a cheat in England.
You're talking about that hand ball that won them the match right?

He's too mouthy indeed and he behaves much more like a player than a coach.
We'll see - he now has a platform to be a gobby twat, so he should be an awesome manager :P
It's true that most of the top football managers are arrogant pricks (Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho...).

Alex Ferguson; Arsene Wenger?

Ah, that... Really, it was a huge mess from everyone, I think 8 drivers were involved in that. I don't know if there were/will be any kind of punishment to them. What I know is that Italians do not take losing. Ever.

No, just the fact that Lewis overtook the safety car and Alonso was stuck behind it, after Vettel was well down the road. It gave an advantage to Lewis and Seb, but I think it was poorly handled by the FIA - They should have caught Vettel and let others past until they get him in formation. Pit lane is closed until this forming is complete.

Also, LOL at the Islanders trying to land Kovalchuck. :P

Hockey via ESPN America very occasionally - it's usually live when I'm in bed.
Ah, right... It's because our two ESPNs never air Hockey - only the IIHF and the Olympics. So I have to keep up with the NHL season via Internet streams. Illegal, but it's the only way out...
NHL.com allows people to watch highlights the day after. That's how I've followed it.
Meh, I can only watch the games live. I don't bother with highlights, especially when I already know the results. =/

I used to pull all nighters when I was a student and get a big fix of Hockey back then, but I'm not able to do it any more.

Coop was originally an Executive Officer, but he kinda got bumped off the totem pole when I became active again in the EGB. Now that both Slash and Phantom are gone, it's time he's back where he belongs. I can't say enough good things about Coop, and I think we all know he is the caliber for the position.

Ah, an executive officer position - I hope that comes with a pay rise *straightens tie, slicks back hair*

Keep those superlatives coming, Eagle :P

However, if you wanted to go off activity, than I may recommend that Coop takes 2nd in command, and the Rohan? Not that i'm disrespecting Rohan in any way, because we both know he's fit for the job... I'm just saying because Rohan has been more inactive than Coop.

It's quite difficult to be more active than me? Second pay rise in a day, you say?

Oh yeah, there's a new Protectors Update for your viewing pleasure today.
