Again, programming regs is just a topic. This is a bunch of forums so you don't have to just stay in one place... I've never been able to get into the Programming Regs Lounge just because it's just a topic to talk about whatever in. I like to move around, see different topics and shit.

That's because General is trashy with no real "brains" behind the topics

Exactly

The problem with this is that the forum won't be hosted on your server, it'll be hosted on whoever else's so you won't be able to really integrate it.

And THAT'S where you lose me.
I don't really intend to do much integration until I actually own a full server with MySQL and shit, THEN i can start making the site cool.
For the time being, it'll just be an SMF forum with (eventually) a newgrounds-like layout.

It's cool.

I think there was a project for this but it may have been abandoned... usually this forum suffices.

Well, I'm willing to give it another shot.
This has been on my mind a lot lately, and I've just now taken the initiative to actually try it.

That's only one thread though.
I'm talking about a bunch of forums. Different topics, zone-in on some discussions while not interrupting others.

Response to: Game maker Posted November 7th, 2007 in Programming

Game Maker is pretty awesome.
My best friend uses it religiously and makes awesome games with it.
He doesn't do the click and drag shit though, he programs all of it.
I tried to get into it, but decided against it.
Maybe I'll try again in the future.

Ng Programmer's General Forum Posted November 7th, 2007 in Programming

Hey.
I want to make a forum for all of Newground's Programming forum users to just talk about... whatever the fuck they want.
Just like General, but with less retards.
I figured that it's awesome talking to you guys about programming, but I want to get to talk to you about every day shit, have discussions and debates, and just fucking have a good time.
I've been dying to go to General lately because I just want to talk about other shit then programming without having my threads locked/deleted, but then I see the top 6 topics... 3 about masturbation, 2 about atheism, and a fucking stupid parody topic.
I need your help with just one thing...
I get hosting from a friend. I intend to buy hosting in the near future, but for now I get a subdomain on a friend's site.
I don't have access to any SQL databases.
If anybody can donate some MySQL space to me for this, I'd be highly appreciative.
Just send me a PM with the details so I can open up this forum.

I'll design it sooner or later... For a while it'll be the default SMF theme, but I'll probably make it look like Newgrounds or something so we're all at home.
:)
Thanks.

The installation wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from a previous comment.
Pretty neat. I'd like to see it evolve.

Alright.
i tried to learn Python a while ago... l33ter-then-you (or whatever the fuck his name on here is) taught me some, and I made a calculator that calculated how long it would take you to get to a certain level on Newgrounds, but that's the only thing I've ever made, and that was simple math.
So I'll try and actually get into it soon... Thanks!

If I were to get into Desktop Programming, what language would you think I should learn first?
Basic?
C++?
Python?

And the first prototype is the current site, www.greenkube.com. Which layout is completely not feasible since it was done in flash and I am moving to a more dynamic approach.

Yeah, prototype 3 is byfar the best.

I love it!
Care to link to the other prototypes?
Good job!

Hmm, maybe some checkerboard background? I'll try one out.

Checkerboard...?
I dunno... I guess I'd have to see it.
I was thinking like... candy cane stripes (does anyone have the actual name for that type of pattern?).... combined with some feather or something to make it look good.

Well, what are the chances that somebody using their computer for enjoyment (the type of person who would go to your site) would actually use a resolution so fucking low?
It's just ridiculous to think about.
I mean, I personally like the size of the layout, but making it a bit bigger won't hurt 99% of people viewing your site, plus you could just add a note about that on your footer along with the stuff about browsers.

Who else is extremely enjoying Serj Tankian's new solo CD, 'Elect the Dead'?

It was released today.
For those of you who are retarded, Serj Tankian is the main vocalist for System of a Down.

My favourite song on the CD is "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition".

Response to: Computer Hospital: Part Two Posted October 22nd, 2007 in Where is / How to?

No, I do not get to the bootloader.
So it must just either be a BIOS issue, because I'm positive that the card is in working order.
I'll fuck around with the BIOS again in a bit. Thanks!

Response to: Computer Hospital: Part Two Posted October 22nd, 2007 in Where is / How to?

The only reason it's worth it is because I know for a fact that this video card works with Ubuntu, but with my current card the screen gets all fucked up after like, 10 minutes of usage, and someone told me it was probably because of a graphics card overheat.

It's an Nvidia Geforce4 MX420.
Not much of a step up from what I have, but I had it lying around in an unused computer.

And about uninstalling the driver...
I tried that already and had the same problems.

I'll try installing the drivers agaiin...

I downloaded them from a definitely genuine source that time (download.com), except this time it was a batch of drivers... Had like, 10/15 Nvidia drivers, all in one installation, so I figured that for this one the drivers didn't need to be in.
I'll try and put the card in in a bit, or after school... gotta go get ready.

Response to: Computer Hospital: Part Two Posted October 21st, 2007 in Where is / How to?

I tried just about everything in the BIOS and nothing worked... =S
Checked the manual, and it just says to make sure that the drivers are installed... But the driver's won't install unless the card is in! Gah.

Wouldn't be the first time.
Sorry if I'm being annoying though. I don't mean to.

I'm not sure if I have the manual... I'll have to check. And about putting the card in and plugging my monitor into my onboard and booting up and installing the drivers for my new card, that doesn't work... My screen just stays black.

I'll check the BIOS soon. Thanks much :)

Okay, I tried this... Uninstalled my driver, shut down, put in the other driver, and tried to boot.
I still get the black screen :(
