I agree, it is mostly kids wearing the Che Guevara T shirsts, but that is beside the point.
I beleive that to make the world better, we need a more socialistic system, however, communism and marxism have it all wrong, and never will or have acheived anything, apart from bad reputations.
I think Guevara would probably turn in his grave somewhere in bolivia where he was shot if he knew that his face was being sold in The Gap. That just proooves Marxism is more of a fasion statement today.
I i am the sort who is very anti capitalist. It always irritates me-especialy right now, with banks takeing huge bonuses at the expence of the people, and i think that tighter controls on corporations are needed, but i dont think they should be nationalised like communism suggests.
However, i think that it is given a bad name.
it is just an idea that doesnt work out, but isnt designed to harm people, it just ends up doing it. it shouldnt be used, and only results in the people being oppresed more so, with no economy, and a iron fist dictator.
look at the communist nations right now-Vietnam, Cuba, China. all have trends of reputation.

I think communism is a nice idea, but unfortunately it doesnt work, and never will work due to the fact that everyone is not equal in reality, becuase everyone is differant and individual.
I am myself very far left,and have socialistic political views, however, i think communism is utopian, and therefore bound to fall well short of it's goals.
It probably gets a bad names from the leaders however. Stalin was one of the most evil men, or at least the most evil men who ever excerised power, and Moa was another one. infact throughout modern history, most leaders who are regarded as the most evil men on earth, have followed these ideals, such as Pol Pot and Stalin.
This may show something about communism, but it is a nice idea, even though the people who execute it do so at great expense to the people under them, which is not what it's original ideals were.
lets face it, communism is never going to work. if we were all mindless drones, then yes, it could, but that is not the case, thankfuly.
as for the religious views, i think it may have a point. I think that people need something to beleive in for those big questions, but religioin has caused more grief than anything. i think religion is not important for a modern functioning society, though i am not saying it should be abolished, just kept out of major issues.
Anyway, to sum up, No to communism, though i personaly hold socialist political beleifs.
