That reminds me of some stuff I saw for the game Heavy Rain, doesn't look as good as the other mo-cap stuff posted...but I think they can get a little further with video tech than they can with game tech right now (at least for current consoles).

I've found that I really wasn't ready to handle "The Big Ones". I had a pretty epic Western lined up at about 4 minutes or so with tons of cool shots and an interesting story, but it outgrew even me and I couldn't wrap my head around it. The key is to only make a flash that's a length that can hold your interest. Most of my movies are about a minute or two at the most, and the sort of mundane but funny ideas I have suit that length extremely well. That's what kind of got me back up to speed, just work on stuff that will be fun and can hold your attention the entire time you're working on it.

Yeah I kind of brushed it off when I saw the news post, but that has got to be some of the most inspiring shit I've ever seen. Really a "life changing" type of thing, I mean this is a guy who's seen it all and the one thing that CAN get you noticed is just taking some self-initiative. What's so cool about it though is while we might not be physically sitting next to each other, a good chunk of people from NG are doing just what he said as we speak.

You'll probably have better luck over at the Where is/How to? Forum, I'd be surprised if anyone over here paid attention to this and actually answered your question. That being said, I'd try to include a little more info to refresh people's memories - art style, anything you can remember about how the character(s) looked, anything at all really (I've found it's usually the small stuff that helps people remember).

Yeah, according to the rules of what not to do (A "BIG ONE" at that) -
"Bumping any old topic without a good reason and new information."
It's usually alts and bored kids looking to see what they can get away with.

One other thing, I thought of a random idea for a collab (not making it, just an idea) to make a collab of flash ad's) thoughts?

Explain...sounds kind of boring/pointless when you say it like that, because who wants to watch a collab if it's all ads? If the ads were a joke or something then I could see where you're coming from.

Single Serving Sites

I just read an article about a 'single serving site explosion' and thought it be pretty interesting to share with all you dudes.
Here's a list of a ton of domains that serve only one purpose (single serving site), most of them are pretty damn humorous. One of the more prominent site designers is a guy by the name of Rafaël Rozendaal (supposedly the pioneer) and you can see a few of his examples here.

At first I thought his bicycle one was a real website and I kept waiting for the Nav links to pop up haha, so I just spun that bike wheel for like 3 minutes.

Hmmm..I dunno how well of a response you'll get in the Flash forum, you'll probably have more luck over at the Where is? How to? forum. As for the movie, I don't remember it myself. You might want to include anything you remember about the art style or how the movie looked that would refresh some fans memories.

It didn't matter though, because the movie was brilliant.

Okay, it's understandable that maybe your theater messed up because it should've been seriously noticeable when it changed to IMAX format. Namely, since it's 70 mm, it's a square format so it would've taken up the entire screen during those sequences and then changed back to the smaller widescreen during the 35 mm. And for the record, HD's got nothin' on the IMAX res.

The movie was incredible, that's just a fact, but watching it on the big screen is a whole hell of a lot better than watching it on a regular movie screen. Because everything else just feels...normal after you've seen it in IMAX.

If I'm coming off a like a big ol' dick, i'm not trying to, I'm just really interested in the whole IMAX format and the fact that Nolan was the first to use it in a regular feature film. Anybody who couldn't notice it, especially tech-minded people like us here at NG, just boggles my mind.

In my humble opinion watching it in IMAX didn't add a whole lot to the film.

Wha...Wha?! Did we watch the same movie?! Personally, I've never seen a movie with so much depth or clarity in my life, and I seriously hope more filmmakers take advantage of the IMAX format. IMAX film format uses 70 mm film as opposed to the regular 35 mm film so the higher resolution is incredibly noticeable - it even looks better downgraded to 35 mm too -

Ha this is hilarious, the only thing I'd suggest is making it a little more obvious he's jackin' it when you press L - make him shake or make his arm move subtly up and down, just enough so the viewer detects movement. It's a little confusing at first if he's jackin' it or not so I'd say just edit that part and the game would be perfect, nice job! (and a great concept to boot)

Calvin Carcass

I'm really glad Tom decided to give The Calvin Carcass series some due credit by showcasing it on the front page. I highly suggest checking it out, it's a classic for me since it's one of the first great movies I remember seeing here. It's from 2004 and just has this classic flash kind of feel to it, no photoshop frills and it's got great animation, plus it's just a hilarious concept to boot. Check it!

I've noticed this phenomenon as well.

Yeah I mean, it's a given that something Newgrounds and co. put out will hit the top 10 or Swain or Phillips, that's pretty much been the case for a few years now. But recently (I'd say within the last month or two) it's really become apparent where everyone will turn out in drones to vote 5 on something (perhaps just because everyone's a shut-in and has nothing better to do than look at the front page all summer which actually probably has some truth to it) but the top 10 has been changing drastically from week to week.

The first time it really annoyed me was with Monster's Dream, a well made movie, but at around a minute and half long and not very well developed, was a heinous example of 5'ing just because Tom made a post about it. That and I think "Flash Dancer" was another one that just wasn't deserving of the spot on the all-time list because of the whole 5 effect.

I think one of these days I'm gonna write a paper about the building effect of exposure, where views and score increase exponentially because the 5's outweigh the 0's once it's hit the front page and eventually a bloated score monster is created.

I'd say either Calvin Carcass, an overlooked gem of a series, or Mr. Coo would look good up on a poster. Hell, even a character from Marc M's "Hans Dick" would be pretty recognizable.

I'm almost positive that has to be a fake. No way Nolan would use CG that tacky...

It's a concept, but pretty close to how it's actually gonna look in the movie. Warner Brothers went on a spree sending cease and desists to film sites that posted those up about 3 months ago so I guess that means its pretty legit. It's supposed to be an incredibly dark movie (but what can you expect from the title. LOL.) , I've heard it plays like an R-rated movie but somehow has a PG-13. My friends and I bought our IMAX tickets 3 weeks ago...can't wait.

By the way, too bad about Gotham Knight sucking, it looked like it had potential.

How long is your flash

Damn, I always look at it like I'm still new to the game (sort of), but my flash experience is actually gettin' up there. I'd say I've used flash for about 4 years now? Not much to show for it, a lot of unfinished projects... but I'm tying up a lot of loose ends right now so that's always good.
