I just posted that to show the DAG that your logo is not as original as you perhaps thought.

Response to: Charlie Manson Posted May 17th, 2003 in Politics

John Gotti didn't "make" anyone do anything, Jim Jones didn't "make" his believers commit mass suicide, etc. By your reasoning, nobody's responsible unless they pull the trigger themselves. That type of logic just doesn't hold up when you have group of people that he has brainwashed, indoctrinated, and commanded to go out and kill. And his followers hardly sold him out, they shaved their heads to match his and held vigils outside the courthouse.

You miss the entire point. Although he didn't kill anyone himself, he ordered the killings. This was proven at trial. By your logic, all mob bosses should be set free because most of them didn't actually commit crimes themselves, they just ran criminal orgaizations, planned and ordered crimes. Being pruposely responsible for a crime is nearly the same as committing the crimes yourself, in the eyes of the law.

What you posted was truly ignorant. Is this what we are to expect of the DAG? I suppose so.

The government's "anti-smoking" campaign is an enormous sham. If smoking is bad, why isn't it illegal? Ever thought about that? The reason, because smoking is profitalbe for the government. The taxes they place on cigarettes are phenomenal. They've tied so many big government programs to cigarette taxes that they can't do away with them.

Ease up on the punctuation. And no, I don't. I think we've givern their leaders reason to hate us and since their leaders control the people's opinions, anti-American opinion is manufactured.

Then think at all the americans that hate muslims and anyone with darker skin and that speak other languages than english.

Think about all the arabs that hate anyone from America or the west.

So what?

I don't think that homosexuality could be considered a mental disorder based off of the religous-right arguement that "it's a choice."

How much of what we feel is truly a "choice"?

I think it can be considered a mental illness because it goes against the most deepest and most ingrained natural urge of all, that of procreation. All of nature is devoted solely to it, even survival itself is solely for the sake of the continuation of life and the creation of the next generation. Why do salmon die after they've spawned? Because their purpose has been fulfilled.

If an animal refuses to eat or loses the will to live, would we call that a choice? Much as we may want to believe otherwise, we are at heart still very animal. When our most basic purpose, to create and empower the next generation is not being fulfilled, then something is wrong and can only be described as such.

Why not?

I am positive that homosexuality has been apart of our socioty for thousands and thousands of years.

So has schizophrenia. Like other mental disorders, we simply may not have known what it truly was until now.

I believe that the purpose of worship is some part of The Plan. It is to keep energy focused in a certain direction, if you will. This may not make much sense to you but remember that God is the Universe, in my opinion, and He is moving towards a final objective during approximately the next 20 billion years.

Also, some of the people I know who truly hate America hate ALL countries (that's pretty much what anarchy is). So, it's unlikely that they'd bother "going somewhere else."

I understand your points. I'm just saying. ^_^

I was talking about the hate-America youth that loves to wear those circle-A patches on their jackets and such. That's why I said "wannabe Anerachists." They're really just kids who think that listening to punk music and hating all authority makes them 'cool' somehow.

Response to: The Matrix: Plato or Christianity? Posted May 6th, 2003 in Politics

Personally, I don't like the Matrix. The storyline is composed of bits lifted from other sources and blended together then mixed with a large heap of special effects.

The elements of the storyline are from
1) Judeo-Christianity
2) Greek culture (the Oracle, etc.)

The technology/cyberpunk elements are all lifted from cyberpunk authors, (Sterling, Cadigan, Gibson, etc.)

The Matrix isn't a terrible movie, I've just heard too many describe it as 'incredible original' which it is most certainly not.
