I guess I got the wrong impression about the contest. Stamper and Johnny both did a Street Fighter guy so I thought that was in bounds. When I was a child and the first Street Fighter / Mortal Kombat came out I would draw the characters all the time. It's pretty much what has inspired me to stick to art. So in an homage to that inspiration, I thought after all these years it'd be fun to tackle them again. I'm sorry to the people who had the creative freedom to elaborate on an 8-bit sprite. I didn't mean to cause any kind of strife in the contest. Anyways, I posted the final Sagat. I intended to do a little more with the shading, face, shorts, but I have no intention in touching this again..

Well it looks top-notch, but since you picked an already detailed sprite, all you've had to do was pretty much trace it and fill it with the paint bucket :o
I can't tell you if it looks kickass because you're a great artist or because street fighter has great sprites.

Well I was following
:2. YOUR FINAL HD ART SHOULD CLOSELY RESEMBLE THE ORIGINAL SPRITE. This means pose, colors, and so forth.
but if you look at the sprite I enlarged can see the minor liberties I took when redrawing it. Everything from shading to definition. I do plan on remaking one more after this one that isn't street fighter. Because their characters are not only pre-detailed but very time consuming.

Also, ClockOArctic - love the Dhalsim, but post a bigger one! It deserves a bigger picture, well done.

Well, that's the size I made it as. I'm not too familiar with the contests, but I noticed size was an issue so I wanted to keep it small. Next time around I'll make it larger, but for now I just upscaled that one.

Dhalsim is my favorite Street Fighter character. Spent a good amount of hours on this. It was pretty fun though, so I might fix him up a little more or work on Blanka or E Honda.

My Dhalsim so far. He's my favorite Street Fighter dude. The skull is going to be redone, but other comments/suggestions are welcome. I took a little liberty when making him, but for the most part it's expanding on the sprite.

Sorry I couldn't develop mine further, too much other work.

The concept is the idea that maybe in Japan, dorks are obsessed with American culture like Clint Eastwood, instead of things like Anime.

This is one of the funniest ones yet. Notice how he had listed "greedy buissnes"people not once but twice to declare he doesn't quite care for either sex! And not only that, he's discovered a new way to spell business because he didn't seem to spell it any differently on that second one there. On top of that, He was able to nail BOTH the "stupid" and "evil" leaders of anything in general! This list is THE list of people who should die that's for sure. A few days of reading up on wikipedia has helped this kid realize the evils of this world!

Topic: The greatest flash of all time

Posted: 06/10/05 04:57 AM

Forum: General

At 6/10/05 04:28 AM, StarF68 wrote: That flash was barely funny, and it was waaaaay too slow. Perfect Kirby series is way better. (Link in my profile, under my favorite flashes)

Perfect Kirby was horrible. Always will be horrible.

It is quite obvious that this is the greatest flash movie ever, because it's ranked #1 of all time!!
Even though it's horribly drawn/animated and the storyline resembles that of what all you gamers live every day and has no imagination, I'm sure it must be the best, correct?

Personally, I would say all of Adam Phillips flash movies hold a place close to my heart for the best. Atleast on this site that is. Professional animation.

I also happened to like the detective frog flashes as well as that corporate puppet flash (just lil' person favorites :) ).

Of course, there are plenty unsung heroes on this site that don't receive any notice because majority of the crowd coming here isn't looking specifically for animation skill. They are here for that entertainment that this site's name lives by. Entertainment in their dating sims (lack of dating in their real life), entertainment in their cheap laughs (usually immature humor that doesn't strike a funny bone in me nor shows any animation skills, i.e. Dad's Home), or dork humor (such as your #1 slot or IWP). Now my question is, why do you come here day after day looking forward to the next games related or anime flash? How do you get so much excitement out of them? Is it because you can relate to them more because your life revolves around such pathetic hobbies? Why not love something like Bones or Bitey? You do realize that Madness series is a bunch of floating circles shooting each other right? Violence can't be THAT entertaining. You've seen it once, you've seen it a million times. I know I'm going to get a lot of people saying, well that's what this site is here for, entertainment. And I agree 100%. If you get your jollies off from this sort of stuff then more power to ya. I just want to know why you rank these movies higher than others. Am I missing something? I guess I didn't get the memo. The reason I'm complaining, is because this kind of activity discourages good artists and animators from a site like this, they see shit like that being the face for this site, they won't bother wasting their time. And when good animations are submitted they may be highlighted for one week and dissappear forever. When's the last time you saw final task or hostage situation 2 (bad examples, they were highlighted for awhile, but still they have dissappeared)? I probably left a couple questionable remarks in this statement, but frankly I don't care, because you won't care too much either. I visit this site probably once a month at most now because of the disgrace it has become to me.
