"I personally believe that the legalization of drugs could be answered with the question of "how does it hurt other people?" Cigarettes have second hand smoke, and Alcohol causes DUIs and other acts of negligence. I believe they should both be banned, but that chewing tobacco should be legal because it hurts no one but the user."
I don't think you read enough into the alcohol/cigarettes. Politics is about more than doing what is exactly "right". Sometimes doing the "right" thing ends up doing more wrong.. And I could draw up some facts questioning the validity of second hand smoke.. but I fear the derailing of topic.
"Legalization of drugs is very unlikely. As long as we have to provide medical care to those who are stupid enough to overdose on drugs and hire those who use them, it will always cost us more money to have them legal than not. Basically, I and many others who make good decision get taxed more to support those who didn;t make good decisions."
(In response to first sentence: This topic and this forum aren't about how realistic the chances are)
I disagree with you on the taxation.. if anything legalization of drugs would be better for our economy(drug taxation). I also
don't feel that legalization of drugs would contribute to raising the hospitalization levels for drug addicts. As I said, the government handled drugs would most likely be regulated.. and any true addict would turn to the streets.. leaving the levels of hospitalization at the same level.
This thread is directed at the idea of legalization of all current street drugs, not just marijuana.
I'm going to start of by stating that I am against the complete legalization of street drugs.
Of course there is always the upside in the legalization, that society would have access to drugs which were pure and give less risk of hospitalization(as well as lowering street crimes)... but most likely the stores would lessen the strength of the drug in question. Also, drug dealers would bring about a drug that was no longer legal, or sell drugs which were strong enough to satisfy the addicts taste.
We have to realise a drug addict's mentality is not to find the safest route while getting their high. If a drug addict were satisfied with merely a temporary high, coke and meth heads would not exist.. the word gateway drug would not exist.. People would stick to marijuana or a couple of glasses of beer if they cared that much about the safety of what they were doing.
And we also have the idea of a utopian society with freedom of choice at every corner. These people don't support the use of drugs.. but they think society as a whole should be able to make that decision for themselves and we should have government programs putting children to the right direction..
My response is that is, whether you purposely do so or not.. legalization of drugs, does support the use. You do so by making it easier for people to obtain narcotics.
Also, the whole giving society access, but suggesting they don't use them thing.. it just makes no sense to me. It's so hypocritical.. we give them the loaded gun and train them how to shoot it, but then we discourage the use. Pointless and hypocritical.
Besides, how can one say that society does not already have freedom of choice when it comes to drugs(or anything else for that matter)? Freedom does not imply lack of consequence.

Does the bible say anything about not reading into things enough?

Hey, thanks for taking it seriously. :)
No need to get so analytical.. it was a stupid mistake.. and I admitted, laughed, then it was done. Grow up.
Heh... Whenever I browse multiple forums, I get the tags mixed up. Though on most of those forums there is an edit button! :p
Hey here's a poem I wrote.. yay.. christmas.
If Jesus Were Alive December 25, How Old Would He Be?

Happy birthday Jesus, it’s the best time of the year
Sorry about the presents, you weren’t around, Jesus
So we opened them for you
I hope you can forgive us, I know that’s what you do
Oh, thank you for your sacrifice, and instilling us with fear
Jesus, thank you for the ps2
But can’t we feed the poor?
Jesus thank you for the mp3
But can’t we put an end to war?
I know that it's your birthday,
But I'm feeling kinda down
I think I need a drink
So I guess I'll go downtown
I hope you can forgive me, I know that’s what you do
I’ll down the bottle, recycle and pray when I am through
Ghandi was able to defeat the british empire without force... if the government were to gain too much control, why could they not do the same?
Did you know there are no actual medical reports proving second hand smoke to cause cancer? We have laws based on propoganda.. to make the public happy.. to gain votes. It discgusts me.. I do not believe that smoking in public should be banned.. I have a few articles(there somewhere on this computer I think) that actually disprove the fact that second hand smoke causes cancer. Fuck those dirty politicians.. fuck them in their stupid asses.

Do I sense a lack of common sense here? I explained myself in my post.
If you have to explain yourself, it's obviously not, that common.
The only reason I've ever heard someone argue for inter-racial marriage is the fact that the children might face ridicule. And that argument to me is total bullshit, because that is just giving into the ignorance and racism. Also, we aren't living in the 1950s(whether we realise it or not we have advanced socially) any more, most kids can't tell whether someone is of mixed genes unless they come to visit.
Oh, and damn, that movie which was supposed to refer you to a whole new world was Bowling For Columbine... (damn I'm on a roll today.. *bows head in shame*)
Oops.. excuse my illiteracy please
amendment*
exercise*
I think he is well aware of the reasoning for their usage of the gun... the question was, why do you feel the need to excersize such rights? Or, why is there such an ammendment in the constitution for that matter? I'm not going to continue to preach, instead I'm going to refer you to a great movie which might open your eyes to a whole new world.

Are you kidding me? The chances of getting in trouble for activity involving marijuana are very low(assuming you aren't involved in the distribution).. whether the drug is legalized or not, people will continue to use it. However, if the drug was legalized our prisons would no longer be flooded with people who did things no worse than the liquor man on the corner(assuming neither were selling to minors :D) , an average day business man. Not to mention the tax dollars us capital pigs would be raking in.. I'm really surprised for that reason that we haven't yet. I see legalization of marijuana coming in the future.
I was never that much of a fan of the song Light My Fire.. It just always pissed me off that so many people remember them for this song. Morrison didn't even write this one, and you can tell that he didn't write it by the lack of depth the song has.. compared to some of the songs he wrote himself.

I apoligize if I am quoting the person above me.. you just never know how quick someone might beat you to posting on these forums..
Anyway, I'd give you a 5 That-Is-Bull.. the five points are pity really. The name just seems like no thought was put into it at all... and it makes you seem like kind of an asshole gangster type guy. "Yo, that's bull."
Sorry probably transference.
I'm not exactly sure what love is.. but my basic definition of love is a noun which you feel passionate about. I think the fact that you are passionate about it is the most important thing.
But, what really gets to me is when people say they love someone in a different way than someone else.. there is no different form of love. If love had branches which could describe it in numerous ways, the word wouldn't be as special as it is meant to be(the word is degraded oh so much).. I understand the fact that you love your family.. and you love your spouse.
The love you feel for them should be the same(or it is not love).. Certainly, you "make love" and have an intimate relationship pending on the noun. But the intimacy is not love.. that is just acting upon the shallow feelings. No matter how you put it, the intimacy, the the feeling you get when you look in their eyes, or the way their hair moves in the wind, are all shallow things, not love.
Another thing that gets me is how people define infatuation as love. You can most definitely be infatuated with someone and not love them. But, you would like to convince yourself that those feelings are love, and that it is the last piece to your puzzle. But more often than not the puzzle piece doesn't fit, and cutting the piece with scissors to make it fit is cheating, and you're only lying to yourself.
I know when you are out on the desert and you see a mirage, the desert heat gets to you. But, once you get close to the water and take a drink, you'll realize that you feel worse than you did before. Of course, what you see could be an oasis. But reaching that oasis will not be easy, and not be as evident as the beautiful mirage. And, of course you will have to take the chance that you might leave with a mouthful of sand.

However... the greatest political song ever can be found here: Keep your Jesus Off my Penis
Hah, never heard of it... though I'll have to download it tomorow
Heres another song I wrote... not political, but here it goes anyway.
Teenage Drama Queen
Razors to the wrists
Rope ‘round the neck
Freewill mass genocide
Just another teenage suicide
Looking back on your actions
Was it worth it
Becoming just another statistic.
Turn on the news only to see
Jamie died at just sixteen
Slit his wrists
He buried his dreams.
Forget your troubles
With the blink of an eye
Pop some pills to ease the pain
Forget your troubles
You are going insane.
A pool of blood gathers on the floor
As you begin to lose your self conscious war.
Open the paper and what do you read
A misguided kid died at only sixteen
Just Another teenage drama queen
Looking back would you think it was worth it
Becoming another global statistic.
Heres another song I wrote, havent come up with a good title yet..
Things are not quite how they seem….
Everything your ears have heard were misconceptions
You’re just living an elaborate dream
People around the world unjustly dying
As you sit back ignorant and happy
Without realizing the hate that you’re buying
So sit back and watch with your blinded eyes
As Men with no faces
Tie boots with no laces
Soldiers riding horseback
On horses with no shoes
Winning a war… you can only lose.
A before in a room full of afters
Covering cries with recorded sounds of laughter
A wrong in a room full of rights
Run toward the dark for shelter from the light
Paralyzed men leading the march to kingdom,
The rich are on the street begging for a change
Innocent men forgiving and asking for freedom.
Peaceful individuals asking for a war
Greedy people helping out the poor
No, nothing is quite as it seems
We’re just living an elaborate dream.
Hitting your kids to me is like making up all of your homework at the end of a marking period, expecting to get the same grade as a kid who did it all on time, it just doesnt work.
Or at least that is what a pastor in a near by city believes.. he posted a sign in the yard of his church, stating as you probably wouldve guessed.. "GAY IS NOT OKAY". Now I'm all for freedom of expression and all that jazz... but this guys giving christians a bad name. The news didnt say much about the sign even, just said that it was there.. and all the pastor had to say was that he thought many young people were uninformed, and this would let them know that their actions are leading them to hell, him and the reported laughed during the interview.. disgusting.
And a few days after that report the sign was vandalized(not was spraypainted with white). The vandalism seemed to be frowned upon more than the sign itself..
If this were a sign saying "Whites are superior, negros shall be frowned upon" I think the news would put a much different spin on this story.

Well, if you have to insult like a pathetic child, more than likely you did steal it.
So you're saying if I took the time(and actually gave half a shit) to think of some witty insult, that would mean I hadnt stole it?
I apoligize for bursting out, I was angered that someone was so quick to accuse me of plagiarism.
Poems are made into songs you dumb shit. Do yourself a favor and stop talking now.. unless you have proof that I stole this, shut the f*** up.
Hey max payne, before you start screaming plagiarism, at least be able to back it up with some facts.
And samurai, it's not supporting the things mentioned. It's taking the point of view of bush..
Whatever crash , find the lyrics somewhere else then, see if I stole it.
