Response to: Writer's Guild of Newgrounds (New!) Posted November 20th, 2014 in Writing

Seems nice... I wish to join!

1)- before starting as Ciullo Corporation, I use to have "Cavaliere Nero" (Black knight) as nickname...
2)- Everything: I range from prose to poetry, all genres (often crossovering them)
3)- A Poems Collecion dedicated to women (finished and self-published) - A Horror Sci-fi movie (3D CG - W.I.P.) - A fantasy videogame (3D CG Indie - W.I.P.) - A contemporary tales collection (W.I.P.) - A pirates tale (published only in Italy as multi-part story - rewriting it to include it into a fantasy tales collection) - I Guardiani del Fato (my masterpiece - an all genres crossover story)
4)- I wrote tales and poems from since I've learned to write, perhaps this may be considered both my greatest strenght and weakness... apart I don't write on commission because I don't like to and I'm not able to respect the terms

Most extracts I can provide are old pieces, I just recently overcame a 4 years long Writers block... anyway I'm Italian and I write almost everything in my own language, though I started to translate my works it's a recent thing so they could result with a lesser quality than the original.

Also, does anyone knows any other Writers community around the net?

At 5/12/14 07:59 PM, Tremax wrote: Hi everybody!

Myself and a few other individuals are interested in starting a Writer's Guild here at Newgrounds. The Writer's Guild would consist of several different divisions: ranging from the novelists to the game writers all the way to the screenwriters. The main purpose will be to put forth an effort to bring a group of people together that all share a common interest in writing and to trade ideas with them, as well as work on improving existing ones. Here at Newgrounds we have so many places for programming advice, but so few places where writers can go to learn the tips that will help them write their bestseller.

We are asking for something very simple within this forum post:
1) Your Pen Name for Newgrounds (This will be what we call you within our workshops and group conversations)
2) Type of Writing Preferred (Novels, Screenplays, Video Games, all, etc.)
3) Past Experience (List all of your past works whether unpublished or published. *Please note if they have been finished)
4) Your greatest strength and weakness.

Someone from WGN will contact you within 48 hours of your post. Again, our main goal is to launch a platform for writers looking to improve on their work. This is not a place for people who cannot take criticism. While it is people criticizing your work please remember that they will only be providing constructive feedback that you may or may not listen to. Because at the end of the day YOU are the writer of your own work. I look forward to personally working with every interested party. :)

Please quote this line in your reply.

I mean that there's no need of a ton of keyframes to work with 3D animation (at least not in Carrara 8)... you may search it on google or any other search provider.

Well, how do you think you can move arms, head, fingers, etc with only one bone? Actually, to decently move a 3D model you've to put as much bones as much articolations has a real body at least.

My animations are good, but they can always improve... but no mean I'll buy other theoretical books, I've already to attend to the Medicine manuals... I thought it was clear enough, even only with the video itself, that we're progressively working on that.

And, without supposing anything, you must know that martial arts aren't only combat tecniques, but a life discipline which influences and improves each aspect of daylife (I tell you this because I'm quite annoyed by the common thinking that martial arts are just violence and combat, I'm not offended but others may not take it so easy).

As I told you, I respect your opinion but it was you that said you don't know about 3D stuff... we've used Bezier when we started with stock models, it doesn't work as good too, definitely not for "acceleration motion", "sprint/snap movement" or even for coordinate multiple figures. Really keyframes aren't so much, Carrara 8 has some very impressive features for animating...

Actually all models are originally created from scratch (as it seems to be said) and then rigged and costrained to fit the realistical functionality of articolations (which I learned at Medicine & Surgery course and I've seen working at martial art)... don't think I didn't understand what you're saying, I've been "theorized" at school and at university for 20 years but all the rules or "Standard procedure" you can learn from a book actually didn't mean a quarter of what you'll learn through practice.

"Lack of realism", if you completely by-pass that none of the characters showcased is human, is due to progressive experimenting... althought it remains that this is a "composite video" and, with the exception of the first 1:20 and from 3:56 to the end which were built and rendered in the last two months, it's all "old stuff".

Always on our way to improvement!

I respect your opinion, as you have seen from the dates on the video I've already delayed the final release to improve the weak points of each "generation"... I've also already planned a video to advise of another delay in shipping date ;)

Some models are still the "old ones" and we're working on improving animations to make them the most fluid we can, even if I've verify that certain movement, expecially in fighting (I studied medicine and ranked up as master at martial arts), are more likely to be make with linear interpolation rather than other systems... but, what did you exactly mean with "animation lacks of weight"?

What do you mean by "present"? What's the purpose?

Well, make a presentation, show it, submit to public attention, "gift who is following my work with a brief video that showcase all our progress until now" ;)

If you want to give us some feedback you're welcome...
You mean that getting feedback was not the primary goal of posting?

It's a rethoric courtesy phrase... to me it sounds better than just writing "we want your feedback", doesn't it?

Hi to all!

I just wanted to present my last video, which actually resumes all the progress we made into the animation field.
