I do agree with her, in part. In general part of being a web designer is being a graphics designer, but they're far from the same. I'd consider myself a "web designer" in that I design and build websites, but I don't do graphic design at all. It also depends entirely what you mean by "web designer"; someone who simply designs a website or someone who actually builds it from the ground up?

I watched that a while back. The problem is that paedophiles aren't necessarily dangerous, so while forcing them to seek help can help some and might be the "push" they need, the publics understanding of how paedophiles "work" means the second someone says "Yes I'm a paedophile" it's assumed they rape all kids and will struggle to find work anywhere. So while the right thing to do might be to say "yes, I am attracted to children and yes I need help controlling my urges" it totally fucks them over life wise. Also those willing to admit they have a "problem" are those who don't enjoy having it and therefore won't practice it. It's a shitty situation.

It sucks.

That is a rather popular flash site. Do you mind providing proof you're definitely involved? If you're willing to upload a new file called "newgrounds.txt" or similar and stick "This is llyodiecom on newgrounds.com" or something like that just so we're able to verify your identity. You shouldn't have a problem finding potential developers if that is indeed the case! Good luck.

Problem solved then. Assuming you receive both your WiFi and Wired through your router, this means the problem is your Ethernet cable (or the configuration of the connection). If your router supports it take a look at the error logging, check for the time it disconnects and see what it reports, if it reports nothing then the problem is definitely the connection between your router and you that's caused by the ethernet cable or your configuration.

but yeah, try a new cable.

I have this problem due to poor wiring in my house, it will often because my ADSL connection to drop, are you sure it's a problem with your ethernet? The only way to find out properly is to use another computer and see if it occurs with that, or a new cable. Are you running cable internet or ADSL? There could be any number of potential problems with it.

I like it, if there was a way to improve the "fairness" of the portal that'd be good, but eh, not really possible. I think the staff have done extremely well to get such a great balance here, it works well. I hope NG "stays true" to how it's been run so far in the future, it's very nice now :3

I am leaving stafford at 5:55AM for birmingham on the train, I arrive at about 6:20. My original plan was to get the 7:20AM Megabus, but I have to get from one side of birmingham to the other, so I decided to FUCKTHATLOL and get the later one, because I'd miss it.

Megabus Journey information:
Fri 27 November 2009
Birmingham, The Priory Queensway Stop PC to London, Victoria Coach Station
09:30 Depart Birmingham, The Priory Queensway Stop PC
12:30 Arrive London, Victoria Coach Station

Have you been on it before? Any idea what it's like? It's my first time, sorta scared it'll be cramped and shit.

If I left Friday morning, it'd be £9 cheaper but I have classes.

I'm leaving friday at 9AM on the bus, I think. Got to get up at 5am >:(

I checked Megabus and there's £3/4 tickets between London and Birmingham on the Friday and Monday! I guess it's just much closer...

Yeah, it was £3 to go down and £7 to come back, I think. ridiculously cheap.

For the sake of backing up what I said, I can't find the exact quote (if I remember correctly) where liljim said it had nothing to do with implementation, it was paypal being money whores, I did find this though:

They take something like 30%. Fuck that.

Maybe liljim will see this and say exactly why.

The problem is not implementation, that would be extremely easy to do, it's the Paypal fees. Paypal would be taken anywhere from 5 - 10% of each transaction, so if you're spending $100, they're only getting $90, add on top of that the problems with paypal charge backs and fraud, it just isn't worth it for Newgrounds who already make little from purchases.

Personally I'd love to be able to buy with Paypal in the NG Store but they don't have it because of business, not they just can't be arsed to implement it, although maybe if there was enough interest they'd try it out :)

Topic: question on clearing my cache...

Posted: 11/08/09 02:41 PM

Forum: Where is / How to?

when you load a website your browser being clever saves elements of the page, this includes images and stylesheets to a "cache", this is so that when you go back to that website you don't have to redownload the stuff, saving your own bandwidth and the bandwidth of the server.

Clearing your cache removes all these files, so it's basically saying "Hey newgrounds, please resend me everything that is used to view this page!" and then it does. So if you go to newgrounds.com at 10pm and then at 10:30PM bob changes the colours of links, if you return at 11PM you'll still see the old colours because your browser has saved the files that set the colours, clearing your cache would update to the latest version and you'd see the new links. Some websites get around this with code to tell your browser to refresh stuff when it's changed.

At 11/8/09 01:36 PM, Toiletpaper wrote:
No it won't deleted any received medals. I believe those are saved on an NG server anyway so there is not even a possible way to delete them yourself. It won't delete save games either.

You're correct about medals, when you receive a medal it's added to the ng database for your account, you are however wrong about the saved games. Saved games in the majority (except those that have an account system) are saved to your computer, depending on your browser this can be included in your cache (although I think it's normally temporary files, but browsers act differently.). So saved games are limit to your computer, if you remove the files then you'll lose the game.
