If you're willing to accept that it's not an entirely new game then yes, it's fucking awesome. If you're going into it thinking GOD DAMN THIS GAME IS JUST L4D1 then it'll feel shit, but it really is awesome. Well worth buying.

guys I have a flash q, I'm doing some shitty drawing and I was wondering if there's an easy way to increase or decrease the bright/darkness of the colour I'm using for shadows and stuff, like ctrl + or ctrl - decrease it. Does that make sense? For example, if I had #FFFF00 and I hit ctrl + it'd change to #D7D700 or if I hit ctrl - it'd change to #FFFF51. Does that make sense?

So; is it possible and if so how? If not, good idea? Flash CS3 fyi

It's not possible for console gamers to lecture PC gamers on this game, we expect different things. The way console games play and pc games play is entirely different, so please fuck off if you're going to say "hurr i played it on xbawks free sixtee it's gud u pc gamers r whiners" because that isn't the case.

The funny thing is I felt exactly like that when I was 14. Although in part it's right and there are dicks claiming because they're lazy, there are genuinely people who need JSA to live and don't want to be on it. Oh England.

I was doing some reading about recruitment yesterday and came across some information from quite a few people who work in recruitment, I'll find the link for you guys. The bottom line was: Keep it simple, they don't give a fuck about what you did as a child, they want to know everything that is relevant. Cover letters only need to be a paragraph or two at the most.

How do you survive on only £200 a month, do you get subsidized accommodation because of your reliance on JSA, or do you live with parents?

ty for answers so far, very helpful :) you + the other 2 above!

Do they help with finding jobs or anything, or do most people just lie? I don't particularly want to rely on £200/month if I could get a job, but I don't think I have the ability to find one alone (yay social failure). What do you mean by hard to break out of it, do people look down on your job wise if you're on JSA? Is it assumed you're just applying for the sake of filling up your numbers?

Also, if I went in to the job centre today and asked to sign on when would I get my first £100, would it take 2 weeks or instant?

I have a question, what's claiming JSA Like? I intend to do to the job centre tomorrow, but I've been told that they don't really give a shit about you getting a job. If possible I'd like to get a job over claiming JSA, but I really don't know what to expect. What's your experience with the job centre been like? Do they try and help you to get a job?

I always considered making something like this for myself outside of the bbs, but a couple of things: Popular threads would cause problems, if you post and then 12 hours later return to the bbs to find 1000 notifications you're going to be slightly annoyed. Furthermore it just doesn't fit in with the idea of a forum, if you want to continue to reply all you need to do is refresh the thread every few minutes and check for new replies.

Free hosting is never good for anything you want to use properly because the host has no legal obligation to keep your site online or to even leave your files alone. If they wanted they could edit your files or just delete them without any warning. If you want to do some testing of flash <> php then why not download and install wamp? It runs PHP and mySQL from your desktop.

You've come here claiming to be an amazing programmer and being capable of doing this when in reality you can't. It has nothing to do with your age, it has everything to do with your ability and knowing your limits. You do not have the skills to work on this project, that's not meant to be insulting, it's a fact. Have an idea, work at it and when you've got a good project completed and are genuinely suitable for the project maybe you'll get a chance.

learn to program properly, know your limits.

There is no "best browser", everyone needs different things. Firefox is the best for me because it has what I need, neither opera or safari offer that and although it is slower, the trade off is worth it.

I don't have a bank account, though.

open one, any local bank will let you for free. If you're using Paypal without verification and something happens to your account; someone files a complaint or you get phished then you'll never get your account back and any money in it. Not verifying is silly.

Yes, but you're limited.

2) Is there a limit to how much I can spend at once?

If you verify your account you have no limits, however if you do not you're limited to $1000 per year and the majority of retailers won't accept an unverified Paypal account.

3) Can I use my unverified PayPal account on any website that supports PayPal payments?

No, not unless they have it set to accept any Paypal. Many companies only allow verified Paypal accounts to purchase from them.

The majority of programming is not knowing a language, it's being able to approach problems and solve them using the language you're working with effectively, you can know the language inside out but if you don't understand programming it'll get you no where. For this reason it's okay to start with any language, granted some languages are awful and teach bad practices but a lot of programming is understanding methodology and not knowing a language, although that helps. This is why people can pick up a new language in a few days if they're a good programmer.

If you feel comfortable with starting with Actionscript, go for it, it won't put you at a disadvantage, it should be about what you want to achieve; if you want to make flash games then go for actionscript, if you want to make a standalone game go for c++ etc.
