I know that it used to be anyone could make a front page news post, but I guess it was then changed so that only artists could make them.

Bah, I'm an artist.

If this were true, presumably everything you try after age 2 for the first time would be an allergen, no?

Allergies can produce very intense reactions in the immune system, which is why some people die from them. Some allergies are trivial, but others (like bee stings and peanuts) can be life-threatening. Why some are less mild than others is beyond me.

Oh yeah! That's probably why I have to take the course, but I'm pretty sure I have to take intro to neuroscience as well...

Don't get me wrong though, I think psychology will be an interesting subject, and I admit to being extremely ignorant about it. I just know that the main thing I learned from my stats class was that stats shouldn't be trusted, so if the foundation of psychology relies upon it, I'm a little skeptical.

Than you wouldn't be so goddamn clueless about how people are.

Psych is mostly bullshit from what I can tell. It seems to rely so heavily on statistics, also bullshit. And to think I'll have to take PSY 100 to graduate with a pre-med concentration. The nerve!!!

Topic: Did anyone else Preorder L4D2?

Posted: 10/18/09 10:46 PM

Forum: Video Games

I preordered it a week ago. Normally don't give a damn about getting a game the day of release, but the bonuses of preordering seemed pretty nice ($5 off, in-game bat, early demo).

What bugs me is that the Gamestop employee whom I preordered from didn't know anything about getting the demo early. I don't know if he was just ignorant or disingenuous so that he could hand-out less demos and sell them elsewhere. I've heard bad things about Gamestop, which one reason why I rarely shop there, but I didn't know of any other store that offered the deal.

Anyway, I'll go back on the 27th with my receipt and see if I can get the demo.

They're Sony. They piss everyone off. Need I remind you of the composite cable that comes with your PS3?

Yeah, but do any consoles include that these days? Plus I bought 5 HDMI cables for $.02 each on Amazon, so no skin off my nose.

It's best to just ignore people when they define a game as "hardcore" or "casual". What elements distinguish the two types anyway? By any standard, a game can be casual or hardcore, depending on how you play it.

Topic: why is intelligence shunned?

Posted: 10/05/09 10:40 PM

Forum: General

The intellectuals have been discriminated against for a long time. The early philosophers were either sent into exile or forced to bow down to "authority", and this persecution didn't stop until the 17th century when religious reformations came about.

Recently intelligent man has been idolized along with athletics (not to say the two are exclusive of each other). The computer age has really brought smarts into the foreground of society.
