ya tried that, currently have button on main timeline
cannot get on button(Madness) press go to frame 1297
anyone have a remedy to this?
As a side note is it correct to put the movie clip in one frame and same frame different layer have the action script
At 11/2/11 03:42 PM, HWG wrote: both codes are the same, he was just being picky on how i typed it.
is your code inside the movie clip? or on the main timeline? if its in the movieclip, then move it out onto the main timeline. you also need to put the name of your movie clip in front of your button name, which is "Madness".
for example, if you movie clip is called "Insane", then you would put
Insane.Madness.addEventListener(MouseEve nt.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
function replay(e:MouseEvent)
{
Insane.Madness.removeEventListener(Mouse Event.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
this.gotoAndPlay(1297);
}
Lol now when I insert code
Insane.Madness.addEventListener(MouseEve nt.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
function replay(e:MouseEvent)
{
Insane.Madness.removeEventListener(Mouse Event.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
this.gotoAndPlay(1297);
}
I renamed the movieclip Insane for simplicity sake. I get the following on movie test
:1120: Access of undefined property Insane. Source Insane.Madness.removeEventListener(Mouse Event.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
1120: Access of undefined property Insane. Source Insane.Madness.addEventListener(MouseEve nt.MOUSE_DOWN, replay);
Hmm tried both sets of code and to no change, button only wiggles a bit as I did in the up down hit ect... no actual effect. Currently the button is in a movie clip containing only one frame the action script and on another layer the button.
Is this the proper way, or should I just have the button on the main timeline and the AS in another layer on the same frame
Sorry I am an animator my coding skills suck
If it helps Button name is "Madness" and the frame I want to go to is 1297
I have a looped animation and after the first loop i want a button to appear to continue the animation. currently I have the following line of code on the desired frame
gotoAndPlay(1);
Hey NG voice actors, me and a colleague are most of the way through our Halloween animation for the newgrounds annual Halloween event. We did the voices for our project but i'd give it a C+ and I think we can do better than that with all you eager kids out there!
Since time is very short I need auditions in tonight or tomorrow so we have time to record the audio and sync the audio to the video.
Best way to submit your audition is through skype(I should be on most of this next couple days polishing up our animation) alternitivly you can email it with the title (your name) Hatrack Audition

APRIL FOOLS! he is just using all of you as bug testers
I have a string of code that presses space every 5500 milliseconds I need to make it so it is random (ideally 5000 to 6000)
Second how would I add a second button to such a code (ideally button: 3 )
I am borrowing this code but it works as intended, I would just like to add to it
The code is as follows:
#SingleInstance,Force
#MaxThreadsPerHotkey 2
var = 0
return ; end of autoexecute section
INS::
var := !var
Loop
{
if !var
break
Send, {Space}
Sleep, 5500
}
return
Hey guys I actually posted over on the animation forum, but this gets a lot more traffic so dropping a link here. If your interested in drawing a background for the project take a look :D
Hey there, I am knee deep in a project for Pico DAY. We are working on a monopoly style game with newground locations and characters. We are about 70% done and are several months in work wise. Me and my partner are really getting down to the wire, which is why I am here.
I am animating the game, however I still have a lot of character animations to take care of. This leaves us without a background for our menu. We are looking for a parody of a monopoly box cover leaning toward our newgrounds theme. We are looking for an artist to design this for us. I cannot offer much compensation, but of course credit and co-author will be offered, and your signed art will be the first thing everyone sees when opening this increasingly amazing game (honestly my programing partner has really impressed me with what we are able to do) setting the mood for the entire playing experience.
If interested drop me a message on my newgrounds account and I will get back to you asap. Only serious applicants apply please, and please provide me a link to some of your other work if you can so I can get a feel for your style and capabilities.
Thanks everyone and hope to work with you!

Nice simplistic intro, could use some sound; like the guy above me said maybe some 8 bit style catchy beep combo
Ya, love the Fallout tracks! Only thing is I prefer tracks that are on a free license.
Working on a project and looking around for some 1920s-1950s upbeat jazz. Maybe what you would hear in a speak easy; lots of brass is a benefit. I am thinking Dean Martin/ Buble kinda tunes. Was scrounging through audio portal and couldn't quite find anything that hit the mark, most sounded a bit too modern for my needs.
Anyone care to whore out their music or a friends let me know :D
Well some posts should probably stay dead, but some how I stumbled upon this by coincidence. Anyways here it goes;
I am actually running an online GURPS Game. The basic rules are easy to learn and the advanced ones cover just about every conceivable physical action, as well as the ability to make outlandish and unique powers/magic/psionics/ect.
My game that I run is a series of "one shot" adventures. Each one in a different setting lasting 1-3 game sessions. We play roughly once a month using an online map program called Maptools. I coordinate which games will be run, when they will be run, and character creation at this forum: http://oneshots.forumotion.net/forum.htm
If anyone is interested in playing or checking out the game we will play this Thursday for our next game.

Thank you, my thoughts exactly
Cool down Graf, just asking for coders interested in teaming up on a project to let me know and we will go from there. Yes I have an idea, No I would not like to draw out every detail in a forum post.
Just finished my last project ( Lacrymosa) and have had this one in the back of my mind for a while.
I am not an experienced coder, but have dabbled in the past. To be honest this game is far beyond my capabilities. I am looking for an experienced coder to do the coding in either AS2 or AS3 while I will be doing the art.
The general idea is a twist on the classic Milton Bradley board games, so experience in constructing a board game type genre would help greatly. Including but not limited to turn base sequences and basic AI. I have a good deal of concepts and ideas, but again my coding knowledge is limited so I do not know the best ways to implement the components. The plan on that is to run some of them by you and see where you think we stand on realistically implementing them.
The project may take some time to complete and as such I want to get started in the near future. The idea is to submit it for Pico Day 2010.
Partner will be receiving 50% of any award money collected as well as credit and co-author.
Please only dedicated and determined coders apply I have never seen a project only half way through, and I ask that you maintain the same integrity. Applicants may either PM or email me, with samples or portfolio of your work if possible.
Thanks for your time,

Its not that I am trying. It's that I am more geared toward animation and less toward coding and am on a bit of a deadline so any help is appreciated. The rest if fairly simple button and menu music stuff its not some advanced game.
Well, it may help... or not, but I had a problem where my menu music was bleeding into my main movie after clicking play so I added a second frame after the one with the music and set its sync to stop whilst the first frame was set to Start: loop. Now no more looping menu music in my main animation
At 11/7/09 06:00 AM, liaaaam wrote: The problem is that you're compiling as AS3 but the code is AS2. You can change the actionscript version in the compiler settings. However I suggest that if you don't know how to code, you don't try to do random things like this. If you have a good friend who can AS then it would be a good idea to ask them to code what you need (a menu, small features, etc) and just give them credit for it (in the credits, or whatever).
except I dont.... and number 2 I can't change to AS2 because all the rest of my code is in AS3 already just this old piece is AS2
Bump on this for greater support :3
Hey, I am having an issue with an old piece of code I was going to use for a animation, but didn't now I have a cool opertunity to use it again. However I think I used it in AS2 and now this project all the other code is in AS3 so my question is how to convert this to AS3 (asuming that is the problem)
onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
Mouse.hide ();
this.startDrag("true")
}
As well on a second object which "orbits the cursor"
Uses this code:
onClipEvent(load) {
_x = 0;
_y = 0;
speed = 10;
_alpha = 100;
this.momentumx = 0;
this.momentumy = 0;
}
onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
endX = _root._xmouse;
endY = _root._ymouse;
_x += (endX-_x)/speed;
_y += (endY-_y)/speed;
distx = this._x - _root._xmouse - 20;
disty = this._y - _root._ymouse - 10;
this.momentumx -= distx / 2;
this.momentumy -= disty / 2;
this._x += this.momentumx / 2;
this._y += this.momentumy / 2;
}
Now I will say this. I SUCK at coding please be through in your explanation and how to implement it. The code above was pieced together from several tutorials and even so I don't recall how I got that far...
Thank you for your help
Eh, I figured it out using this
PlayBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLIC K,fPlay)
function fPlay(e:MouseEvent):void{
play();
}
PlayBtn being the symbol's name. Don't necessarily understand that entire piece of code but it works and I am not about to ask why the sky is blue.
Thank you, one last thing I havn't really worked with as in like 2-3 years how do I apply it to the button? from a tutorial i read it said select your button but that wont let me add code to it.

If the NG loader is on your first frame and your menu is on the second, put stop(); in the Action of the second frame. This will stop it at the second frame, your menu. On your menu play button, put-
on(release){
play();
}
This will start playing the Flash at it's next frame, 3, when you release your mouse off of the button.
yes,... of course obviously -.- did I mention the part about me sucking at code?
At 11/7/09 01:01 AM, YavonnaHugstand wrote: play();
Not necessarily helpful... where would I put this assuming it wasn't some stab at sarcasm
Ok I am an animator however I understand VERY basic coding I suck balls at it.
With that In mind what I want to do is have the NG loading and play button. When you click it it will go to the main menu of the animation where there would be a second play button to enter the actual movie. What script would I use to accomplish this?
A second thing that I want to add is a button that you can click to hide a layer in the movie. This is a second issue and I would prefer to fix the first issue before even thinking about this one.
Thanks for your help,
