People just don't get DDR sometimes. I mean, you could get a AAA on Angelic Mix and everyone will think it's cool. But then if you get a D on any 10 footer it's somehow better. -_-;;
A lot of the time, spectators just watch your feet, not really the arrows, and it doesn't matter so much if you get the steps to them. =/
But that's alright.

Nah, they werent spectators, they were players waiting in line for their turn. I can tell them apart because spectators most of the time walk up right next to me while im playing and say one of the following...

"what are you doing?"

"what do those arrows mean?"

"you should be a tap dancer"

"Is this a hard game to play?"

I useually ignore them if I'm playing and they go away.

way to go on that AAA quince ;).

I do consider myself a PAer. It was lame playing today...I got 2 greats on dive into the night heavy and no one gives a crap, but when I pass Legend everyone like "whoa"...people nee to get thier priorities straght with this game...or maybe some people just dont care about perfects.

I really want to see some one try that in real life, because they would fail horribly as DDR teaches you nothing about danceing besides timing...

;_; Why not? It's quite awsome once you get the hang of it. The mario level in the arcade section can help you get up on your feet.

Any links or pictures you would like to show us in convincing that ITG is better than DDR?

heres a link that i just saw myself today. Its a pics and vids of the new ITG2 cabniet and game that is in beta testing. This thing looks sweet, and I especially like the high def wide screen (tekken 5 style).

http://www.itgfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1177

the second post has the pics.

anyways the first ITG just installed right in to back of a DDR cabaniet so this is a really big step. I'm really phsyched to see one of these machines in person...the pads look sweet. I'm not sure why they choose to use pump it up bars though.

anyways you really have to play the game and compare the two, but everyone I know who has played both recommends ITG by far in most aspects.

Dude, your nuts over this ITG game. It's all you ever talk about, but remember ITG is a RIPPOFF of DDR. DDR was #1, and always will be ^_~

Say that after youve played ITG.

My best guess is never, since konami japan's arcade division has given up on DDR, which is very sad...but home versions are selling great so at least you have those to look forward to. (Altough IMO they are going downhill fast...).

THIS JUST IN - ATTENTION!

Redoctane- the dance pad maufactures recently announced (feb 25) that they were getting into the game making bissnuss. (cool). TODAY, redoctane and ROXOR GAMES annouced that they had sign a deal to create ITG for PS2 together with red octane as the publisher! ITG for PS2 is slated to come out in 2005.

THIS IS FREAKIN' SWEET. Now maybe yous guys can see how ITG > DDR.

;p

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 26th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

I used to have a $300 (350 if you include shipping) cobalt flux pad, which are arguably the best you can get because they never go bad on you like red octane or some other brands.

www.cobaltflux.com

I think they have a video somewere of a guy running his pad over with a bunch of cars and then grabbing it off the street, takinging it upstairs, plugging it in and AA holic on heavy. They are build to last.

Anyways after about 8 months of use I sold mine to some lady for 220 because I stopped playing at home and started playing in the arcades more.

Favorite DDR songs people! list them! You only get to say your top 3...if you say more then you lose your sexual organs. o.0

1. Radical Faith
2. Legend of Max
3. Paranioa Eternal

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 23rd, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

Today I beat DDR. The last song I needed to pass: Paranioa Surviour Max Oni has been beaten with a B...hopefully I will be able to kick it up to an A.

I was also able to AA legend of Max out of no where o.O. I was like "steve! get over here, I just AA legend!!!111" and he was like "no one can double a lengend." and he saw the screen and said I was not allowd to play anymore...

So with DDR finally beaten I can move on to fully playing ITG.

My pick's on Extreme. It's what I'm accustomed to using at the arcades now. =/

Well thats strange...because the Arcade version of Extreme is NOTHING like the PS2 US version of Extreme.

Now if your talking about the JP version, thats a different story...

My pick is MAX mainly because of the songlist, but also because of the oni courses and the interface style/colors.

Also, Beatmania is a DJ arcade game were you use keys and a disc to make the music. The way the notes are played a generaly more melodic then based on beats like DDR, so if you are good at one, you might not be good at the other. Machines are rare, but you can import the games and controllers fer PS2 if you really wanted to.

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 18th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

I really suck at Stemania/FFR...dont know why.

Anyone here play Beatmania? Ive been geting into that recently.

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 18th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

I do use the bar. So does JSB (best player in america, lives in los angeles area), so does mix, so does most of the SPF5 and the large majority of the DDR community in Southern California area, which is known to be the most competative area for the game in the US.

Ive been to a lot of tournements and I say around 90% of the entries use the bar in some fashion, and the other 10% doesnt hold it against them, and the top ten players in the tourneys are mostly the ones who use the bar.

Now with ITG out and people competeing against each other in percentages on 11/12/13 footers the bar is a MUST if you want to even stand a chance in a tournament.

I can play on heavy without the bar, and I do reconize that it is way more impressive to do a song without the bar, but when tournements boil down to SDG (single digit greats) or AAA wars, the bar is used to matian accuracy in flat footed steps, so most of the time I use the bar to improve my PA(perfect attack) for tournaments. When I dont use the bar I am either in a strange crossover or im showing off to a crowd or just messing around on a song.

Anyways, I respect non-bar users, they rule with that kind of stamina...but I have yet to see one dominate a tournament. I dont consider it cheating just like I dont consider speed modifiers cheating; its there, why not use it to your advantage?

But Ive been through enough 'useing Speed mods/useing thebar/having better shoes/having stronger legs/knowing the song/useing stepmania is cheating' topics over on DDR Freak to know that everyone has there own view on the game, and it usually will not change. So lets just agree to disagree.

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 17th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

hehe, I <3 the bar.

I learned to use it while playing ITG, in which its pretty damn impossible to pass a 12 footer without it, and it just sort of transfered over when I play DDR. It is very impressive and respectable to do things without it, but I choose to use it, and so does every winner of every tournement that I've been to over here in southern california.

anyway, dont hate me ><.

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 17th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

So the lamest thing ever happened to me today. I was playing Freckles on heavy going for a AAA, I get to the very end with no greats and then on the last freeze arrow I get a N.G. -_-

So the score screen comes up, all perfects, AA. O.o I was so pissed. A few games later I finally got the AAA (Heavy#13) but that was seriously the worst thing that has ever happened to me while playing DDR...

And I black flagged The Center of My Heart god knows how many times today...Maybe I'll get that tomorrow.

To be honest, I didnt like DDR Extreme for the PS2's interface, it seemed very in-efficient. And I hated the fact that the new max song was a friggin 8 on heavy. LAME. The song list was ok, but I think Max 1 had the best song list.

Response to: Music&Dance Video Games Club Posted February 17th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

ah no, the Kiba I'm thinking of lives in San Deigo, CA and is part of the SPF5 (Crazy DDR team that ownz southren california...I'm friends with a few of them.) I think the Kiba I'm talking about runs tournaments and donates 100 bucks out of his pocket for each one. He also funds others tournements, pretty cool guy.

Anyways, In The Groove or ITG is better then DDR in a lot of ways...

-Uses the same 4 arrow format, so no being disorientated like on pump
-Arrows are rendered in 3d making it possible to have...
-50+ arrow moddifiers, and they are stackable, making for some interesting combinations.
-many 10 footers, some 11 and 12 footers and a 13
-Fantastic timing window, which is equvalint to DDR's Marvolus window in nonstop, but its always on.
-Percentage scoring
-handsteps...picture holding 2 freeze arrows and then some more steps scroll up O.O
-Mines...the scroll with arrows, but they are round red balls of death, and if your foots on the arrow when the mine srcolls past the top you lose a bunch of your life bar.
-and finally, lots of good deversified music ranging from rock to trance to happy hardcore.

anyways, the machines are very hard to find because the game is pretty new...but you might be lucky, check the machines page over at:

and for you people with stepmania...

Anyways Ive been playing DDR for about 2 years now...most recent acplishments include AA MAX300 and A on MaxX Unlimited. I came pretty close to AA Unlimited the other day. So I'm almost done with DDR, moving on to In The Groove just because its way more of a challege.

oh, and Heavy AAA's? I got my 12th one today.

Response to: Brag about your Nintendo DS Posted January 17th, 2005 in General

Portable mario 64 and animal crossing = death to all...though animal crossing isnt out yet. :(

and the mini games on mario DS utilize the touch screen very well, like using the stylus to draw trampolines to keep mario bouncing on the top screen or pushing a snow ball with the stylus while it gains speed and size down a track which you can see more of on the top screen.

The thing also has WiFi multiplayer build in...so if you have your DS in a "hot spot location" (areas with wireless contections to the internet, schools, some cafes ect.) then you can search for games thourgh the DS like you would through a PC. Yet there are no games out now that utilize this function.

I have a 4th generation 20GB one.

It is a really cool way to take your entire music collection around. Even in the car, if you have itrip, you can play the Ipod through your radio cable free...so no more CD swapin' in the car.

I dont recomend the headphones that come along with it...they have bad quality at high volume.

Features I would have liked to see would be: being able to make playlists and delete songs from the ipod alone and not have to connect to a computer to do so.

and have it USB 1.0 compatable

If i must say so, this thread is like the always exiting television series Tom and Jerry Kids. The cat often chases the mouse only to realize that he has been fooled one way or another. Infact, on one acount the mouse brought over a cousin who looked like him but was super tough. The mouse scared the cat named Tom and caused him much grief. This resulted in a funny action cartoon. So basically, if you are a fan of the cat chasing mouse cartoon than you will love this thread in which a dog chases a cat who in result chases a mouse
