I will do songs for flash projects - but generally i will NOT take requests to do songs - i do songs on a whim and forcing me to make a specific song just isnt going to work. So yes im more of a "look through my music and see if you like any of them for your flash" sorta guy.
allright i submitteed an application as well - ive had quite a few artists use my flash and id like it if more did.
I just want to know if any musicians have more songs than i do - in the portal. Not in real life. - i currently have 261 songs. I want everyone to list how many songs they have. Also that will satisfy my curiosity of how many songs other people have instead of manually counting theirs myself... pfft heaven forbid!
so lets see - youll get really buff - but you wont actually USE those muscles except for lifting weights - so youll look good but all a girl had to do is push on you and youll fall over from being so top heavy. Hahahahaha thats why i dont work out. Well that and im lazy and i have an adequate skinny body.. So go ahead. I will tan and tan and tan until i look like a mexican. And swim - altho ironically i live right beside lake ontario and cant even swim in it... unless i wanna grow tentacles or something..
flash it most likely compressing the file to about 16kbit - making it sound tinny - go into the library ricght clikc on the song and go to properties - you should be able to fix it there. Keep in mind tho that better bitrates = figger audio files - so you have to find a happy medium.
the star spangles banner? I wouldnt know tho because im canadian..
i have an old school keyboard, and a midi keyboard.. but the midi keyboard doesnt have cables and since there are no music stores close by i havent actually used it on my computer - but its light and pretty! Annnd im too lazy to actually take a picture of it - its about 4/5ths as long as i am high tho. And im 6'4.
tried google - not too helpful - i pretty much have all thechoir soundfonts from hammersound anf other sites.. I was hopeing someone had some on them that they think are really good that i dont have - anybody?
umm... contact liljim - maybe he can help you..
um, break into microsoft all madness style and steal some of their mega computers. Bill Gates is a pushover im sure you wont have a problem... *prepares grave...*
I have a lot of choir samples, but not many of them are very noteworthy - mostly just low aahs and oohs - i need choirs that sound angelic or like children, can anybody help me out?
Like a choir you might hear in chrono cross or something... I tried ripping samples outta existing songs - but people usually put annoying sound effects over the choir that i cant filter out so the samples become useless to me. Also choir samples begin to unravel at high pitches...
if i get more samples ill do more ambiant songs ^^

aand.. if everyone wants a very user-unfriendly program to sing - you can use Festival, the legendary robovoice program.
All you do is take a midi - put the words to the notes, but u can only have it on one channel, and then stick it into festival with the voice of your choice. Mind you there is a bit of code and if your off one note the audio won't play at all and its a phenominal pain in the ass - but its sorta worth it in the end. I used it in my tetris song and gundam wing white reflection songs.
It was also used in the legendary "final fantasy is an rpg" song that everybody know...
either buy a newer, sleeker, faster, sexier computer... or download firefox the browser and use that. Its much more secure.
Chronamuts vg, trance, techno, ambiant, heavy metal, etc. music
I do , for the most part, the video game music. Ive been there since it was 2 pages long And i have made many many many songs. I would always appreciate more reviews and submissions used and if you say in your review that you want me to review some of your stuff i will. I dont venture out of my genres much these days tho so Im usually constrained to reviewing in my own genre.
while your in our genre you might as well check out steve's music as well, if you like mario and zelda and all those popular games.
housemastas amazing music whos songs get more attention than mine.. MARIO!!!!
just because i doubt he even knows this bbs forum even exists.

thanks denvish thats a start. While it wont work necessarily for all samples pitch wise it ill help me somewhat!
I think the main difference with reason compared to fl studio is that you have to PLUG EVERYTHING IN - it took me a while to figure out why none of my audio was coming thru hahaha. It does have a very high learning curve - and some things are just plain tedious to do in Reason so i use a combination of the 2 - or one or the other, dependin on what kinda song i wanna make.
And dont forget electronica video game - thats a great place to make music - but its a very bumpy ride - songs dont last at the top for long so its not EXACTLY the best place for most newbies to start out.
also, a great alternative source for music samples are SOUNDFONTS - these can be used both in reason and fl studio and will offer you a wide variety of sounds.
as i have many people asking me how to use soundfonts i will simply explain here:
step 1: get soundfont from a site - hammersound is a good one to start with
step 2: some are zipped specially so you might have to download the program as well like sfark for example.
step 3 - do not open up fl studio - instead go to program files - fl studio - data - patches - sound fonts - enter your soundfonts into this folder - itll come with a default soundfont - this wil;l be the souindfont it loads up every time u use the soundfont option on fl studio - its basucally useless however so id advise you delete it and rename your fav. soundfont Default.
step 4: open up fl studio
step 5: right click on your workspace and insert a fruity soundfont player - a window will appear on the right showing the default soundfont - you can click the folder beside it to change the soundfont or you can click on the soundfont name to see all the goodies it contains inside!
step 6 - choose the instrument of your choice. Repeat from step 5. And that all there is too it - well basically. There are filters and stuff but that is for another day! Hopefully this will prevent me from having to state it over and over and over..
Also if you want a specific soundfont or sound - i might be able to help as i so have an extensive collection of samples and soundfonts.
So with that knowledge get out there and start making songs!
i posted this before but it was ignored - im not happy with the 8-bit stuff in fl studio - anyone know where i can get actual chipbit squares and saws from like commodore and snes?
narrator... it comes with windows xp..
lets face it - singers are hardest to come by if your not actually in a band. I open this thread so any people who want to sing for a musician can post. Makes life a little easier.

i dont know - i only ever have to refresh if i wanna listen to the song again - like if i listened to it - pressed stop and then tried to listen again. I used to think it was because someone else was listening to your song but i dont think thats it. So i dont know why. Im sure liljim would tho. I hope he visits this bbs often tho.
well i er, do have a question.. haha
i like to make 8-bit but i find its so much work to layer diff. osc.s just to get a convincing nes or commodore chipbit sound. I tried using programs in dos but in windows xp theyre all garbled up.
So... i either wanna just do it in reason or fl studio. Are there nes or commodore sound packs i can find? I tried looking for soundfonts with very little success. I want true grainy 8-bit sounds from the old systems. Can you help?
a refresh usually solves that problem. But yes im glad they finally gave us our own section to play in. The problem is not many flash regulars give much thought to the audio portal - hopefully this will help break down that barrier. I also think there should be respected musicians as mods of this bbs.
actually - you can only vote once on a song. Its pretty much always been like that. It also prevents users from blamming 0 over and over and over.. which could be devastating as blammers would tend to vote 0 more than decent people would vote 5.
I listen to a whole song before i rate it. sometimes i dont rate at all. Actually, a lot of times i dont rate at all. Unless its something that is either totally awesome, sucks beyond belief, was stolen or could use lots of improvement,.. or maybe someone I see as having potential.
Also if a person is a known jerk - but i like their song neways - i might give them a 4 - so factors like that will affect my judgement. They get my grudging respect that is all.
And no i do not rate other people zero to put my songs above them. You people might remember my brother, Reaper_of_ratings who blammed many many ppl because he was like the evil santa claus from futurama - too high expectations.
0s are meant for blatent midi rips and bad ones at that. Ive been mulling over the voting problem for a long time now, and it seems there is no real way to solve it without crushing peoples free will, because:
You cant have them review first - they'll just create alias accounts and write gibberish.
You cant force them to NOT vote zero - some songs deserve a zero. Not many but some
You could give users voting power - but this could go either way. What i think is that people who vote high on songs should get higher voting power than people that vote down if it was implemented.
all in all it boils down to the users choice - if they wanna vote zero, they will vote zero.
BrimfireMortis in AIM for all u ppl that wanna contact him - he basically treats you like a N00B no matter who you are tho and thats why i dont like him. Also his animation is a little sub par - and as for his gradient happiness - i wouldnt even mind if he at least SHADED THEM DAMN PROPERLY! There are good gradient shades, where you shape the gradient with linear and radial for a nice crisp look like i do- and then ther are bad gradient shades - where you just click and fill.
If he ever asked me to collab with him id tell him where to go. Why lower myself to him when I have spent way more time on flash animation than he ever has? And as a result thats y Ive never let anyone help me, except for voice actors.
Ill submit flash - eventually - with audio tho I dont really need to at this time to become known to the public.
LF can die.
ppl should respect us - weve been here the longest. i hate the majority ofthe ppl on this site -.-
but then itll get downrated - and noone will see it anyways. It amounts to the same thing. I mean itll stay one the new submissions list on the audio front page for a bit - so people WILL see it - adn they can rate it themselves - right? But were not really supposed to be talkign back and forth like this in this forum im pretty sure its just for requests so ill shut up now.
ok im not going to read every single page of complaints so I will just post my own and hope noone has posted some already
mine all have to do with the audio portal
the other day a friend of mine - kingbastard - requested all his songs be taken off the audio portal because of the blatent voting of zeros - i think that something really needs to be done about this - here are my suggestions:
1) let it be known who has rated your songs
this could either be public knowledge (for example, clicking on the rating and havign a window pop up with a log file of all the people that have rated the song) or it can be just for the artist who made the song himself (so when he signs in the possibility of viewing who has voted on your song becomes available, just like the option that becomes available to respond to your reviews)
2) Artists should NOT be able to vote for their own songs
this HAS been said before but ill say it again - too many ppl are voting themselves a five to get at the top - not only is this unfair- but it promps people to get annoyed and automatically give them a 0. This is also unfair if someone actually rates you a 5 that isnt you.)
3)If you vote 0 - you should have to write WHY you voted zero.
Id suggest that ppl only be able to vote after they review - but then noone would ever get voted on hahaha.
too many ppl are merely flame-rating popular artists. I really dont think its fair. 0s really should just be reserved for utter crap of blatent midi rips
4)Audio voters hould have VOTING POWER
the flash portal does - so why shouldnt we? Esp. the audio members who have been here for a couple of years - heck by now id have quite a lot of voting power if i could. Audio members should have to earn it.
5) someone should watch over the audio portal at all times - like.. mods!
i think a lot of the portals problem is its running amock. There are too many newbies coming in. I think more structure is required. Im just not sure how..
this is all i can think of for now - but its unanymous that all of us are sick and tired of the unwarrented blamming.
(on an unrelated note i cant visit the newgrounds home page - every time i try my browser crashes - and its only the front page -all the other links work)
well i make music - altho i never went to school for it- um there is SonicEclipse, Dreamscaper, Evil_Dog, ParagonX9, there was kingbastard but hes gone now.. Whirlguy, Saikuya, Crud, housemasta, realmguys.. thats all i can think of for now - hope that helps!
also not all music in the audio portal is geared to sound professional - each artist has their own unique style - and makes music different ways - some use hardware others use synths and others use real instruments - I think you should listen to a bunch of different artists and see what u enjoy
-shawn-
well you HAVE to have heard of paragonX9 - otherwise youve never visited the audio portal - or have just linked to someones music from a link.
as far as i can see the only changes that WERE made to the audio portal was the audio portal front page. Which was kewl - but something needs to be done about the genre portals.
