Response to: I need audio programs Posted May 1st, 2005 in Audio

then once youve used all these programs - use fl studio - which will be a breeze - then graduate to reason - just like all of us eventually do - and youll be making professional music in no time! ^^

Response to: Need voice actors for "Testpilot" Posted May 1st, 2005 in Audio

haha hey kagome - my flash is still in the works - because im very lazy and prefer to do audio over flash - but eventually you'll see your hard work paid off in it.

Also do you sing at all? 'cuz if you do I could even use you in some of my audio ;)

Response to: syncing .dwi to .mp3 Posted May 1st, 2005 in Audio

well.. i create midis from mp3s from scratch and the way i do it is - i use the metronome. Sync it to the drumline in the song and usually you can never go wrong that way - works like a charm for me!

On a side note - just get rid of norton if u have it and get something like mcAfee - norton is evil and sports many problems - I hated it so much i simply removed it from my computer.

if its just for your own personal enjoyment however, go right ahead!

HA! A few MONTHS Erkie?!? I dont think any of us are willing to teach someone that long - a week or two at most id say - taught the strong basic usages of fl studio should have you all set - but remember, only you can make yourself a better musician!

also people kinda expect your first songs, put bluntly, to be crap. But not total non-structured crap. Just stuff u can look back a year from now and giggle about. Thats about all i have to say.

Dude! That Stairway to Heaven trib is tight! It's a shame you don't have that uploaded to NG's. I would definately give it a fiven. Did you do the guitar and keyboard work yourself? If so, you have definate talent. If not, hell, it's still all good.
Since that one wasn't on NG's I'll still review some of your other material. Good job on that though. Sounds like it would be right at home on an easy listening station!

everything made in that song - was made thru notes typed out and synthesized - Im just that good at using samples :P

I used pro 53 for the keyboard...

Also - one reason y its not uploaded - its not done - I still have to get this guy to sing the lyrics - then ill stick them in - and then ill beg wade to upload it as it is - and if that doesnt work - ill split it in two - so far tho ive gotten VERY good feedback on the song! Make sure to fifen the final product when its done k?

thanks for reviewing my stuff!

If the guys voice sounds like crap ill just submit this one hehehe...

Response to: Me wants to learn! Posted April 29th, 2005 in Audio

Get fruity loops. Pref. versions 4.5 - 5 - there are free demo versions available - youll just be able to export the music file without saving it. A minor inconvenience.

As for tutorials - there is a post for that in this bbs, but please, try to learn the program a bit on your own first before you launch back here in the future with something along the lines of "OMFG IM CONFUSED TEACH ME THE WHOLE PROGRAM PLEAAAASE!!!!1!!!1!!" because those can get annoying fast...

*chimes* soundfonts!

hear my bbs post on how to install them HERE

also - if you get a program called PSound - you can pop certain ps1 games into your computer and open the folders inside them which contain vast amounts of voice clips from the game along with many many sound samples. I HIGHLY caution against this and advise you to use this option sparingly for if someone from the company recognizes a sound u used from their company there is nothing stopping them from sueing you.

also fl studio supports vstis - yay! Vstis are like little goody packages and range from sound fx to rewiring you to Reason. Some are included with fl studio but not many. Some awesome vstis include hypersonic, ethnosphere and pro-53. Dont ask me how to get them however i leave that up to you!

and yes you can always just rip sounds outta other things with cool edit - this works exp. well with basic saw sounds etc. Heck i did it with the hamsterdance song synth and managed to recreate it entirely - you just need to isolate the sound from all the b/g noice otherwise youll get clipping and all sorts of horrible stuff - advised only for the very patient lol.

and of course if you use Reason well you can make your own sounds with the subtractor or use refills..

Response to: Audio Joint Posted April 29th, 2005 in Audio

well bjra, you wanted to know what soundfonts are and where to get better samples - well soundfonts are collections of MULTIPLE good samples - all you have to go is go to google and type in soundfonts for tons of pages for soundfonts - and then click HERE to read my tutorial for how to install them into flash - as I will NOT keep typing it out for people. Soundfonts and filters, along with some vstis, are basically all I use in fl studio. Some of my soundfonts are so good that they actually sound like real instruments. Of course you still have to fiddle with them a bit, adding filters, layering etc.

hope this helps!

sweet cd covers! Who drew the angel/demon?

Response to: Audio Advertisements! Posted April 29th, 2005 in Audio

I made a new song!

Its a tribute to stairway to heaven - sounds more angelic - almost 8 mins long tho so the file size is justified at twice the amt. of a normal ngs file size, and the vocals havent been put in yet so its not quite done - changes can still be made however so comments are welcome!

stairway to heaven tribute

I still have no idea how im gonna get the finished product on ngs - only way i can get under 4000 k is lowering the bitrate all the way down to 64 - and that sounds TERRIBLE- so ill either have to battle it out with wade or split it in two..

Reason..Tempo..Problems! Posted April 28th, 2005 in Audio

allright, here's the deal - i just learned you can rewire Reason to fl studio - i thought -"yay! Now i can bypass the tempo changing problem reason has!"

no such luck.

You see - you cant make a song in reason suddely speed up halfway thru - and anything u import into reason with tempo changes - well, it merely discards the tempo changes - a MAJOR FLAW WITH REASON!

BUT, fl studio - has no such problems - and when you rewire them together - since reason acts as the slave program - when the tempo changes in fl studio - so does the tempo in Reason

sadly - if the tempo goes higher Reason merely skips a bunch of frames and if its lower - it stops until the tempo is returned to a higher state. So i have 2 versions of the song playing together outta sync, then, wait.. stopped.. now.. almost synced, then sped up, and ohh way outta sync again

you can see how frustrating this can be. Im using both programs because im using vstis in fl studio, which i cant use in reason

can anyone think of a solution to this problem? Im directing this more towards Rage and ppl that use Reason and fl studio rewired together.

learn it yourself....

you will learn how to use things for things they were NOT meant for (good things too) and you will learn way more then if you use a tutorial you will always try to do it SOMONE ELSES way.

now now - lets not be too harsh - I think tutorials here should only be meant for users that have a pretty good grasp on fl but want to learn one or 2 more things that may have been bugging them. I think its suffice to say that none of us know how to use 100% of the program... and we all use it in different ways. Heck i mainly just use it as a shell to run other things..

I reviewed - the first part was VERY good but when the flute came in - well it was a bit hairy - just the way you implemented some parts - but overall very well done - im not knocking it or anything - just giving advice on where to improve it!

As for the zero man - well im pretty sure there are several zero men in the vg portal - and they downrate everybodys music - so dont get discouraged - the mostanyone ever lasted at #1 was 2 months (me) and that was in the very early days of the portal. I was actually surprised your song stayed up there as long as it did so be proud!

Response to: Audio Joint Posted April 28th, 2005 in Audio

Keep in mind that Im more interested in musicians that have a pretty good grasp on music. If you have just learned fl studio or acid or whatever and your songs are .. questionable.. well ive been in the portal a long time and ive reviewed the best of the best so my reviews might be a tad biased. So only ask me to review if u either got the goods or you can take a review that is a tad critical. I did review some of your songs bjra but in my opinion there is still a lotta room for improvement.

On a side not I invite you all to listen to my music - just click the moosic link in my signature - you can listen to remixes, or improvements of songs (like transformers the movie) songs made from scratch (like the keygen songs) or songs made up entirely by me (like project static) I do have QUITE a lo of songs so most ppl only listen to the first ones. You dont even have to review them. I just want you guys to listen and know what to strive for.
