I guess if long nails fetish is your thing then this thread would be better though *sigh*

a good thread promotes thought provoking discussion. If all that constitutes a good thread in your eyes is eye candy you can wank off to then that's kind of sad.

Don't all women scare you?

scare/annoy/irritate - I give them the benefit of the doubt until they let me down, and then they are dead to me.

I've never understood the obsession with women and long claw like nails. Who are they trying to impress? Who would find this attractive? Personally it rather scares me..

Someone told me it was a status symbol "I don't have to work" - but you see working women with them too..

I often wonder if women actually think that men look at those kind of things, or if it's all just done to compete with other women.

some women argue its "freedom to express themselves" - I dunno if I buy that.

Is this just a means of self expression, a means to compete with other women, or maybe both?

I am not a woman, so I can only ever speculate..

Response to: "ng Audio Underdogs" Contest Idea Posted July 22nd, 2014 in Audio

Personally from running these contests I think your idea has merit, but you would need to have both an underdog contest and an all-star contest - you don't want to leave those talented veterans out just because they're good and experienced! A lot of musicians goals aren't to just get noticed, their goal is also to LAST and be remembered. Maintenance at the top is a lot harder than getting there, believe me.

criteria could be simple - base it on number of songs the person has submitted, or sign up date, or fans accumulated - lots of criteria for underdog..ness. Or heck even just a LACK of a song on the greatest hits of all time chart at the bottom of the audio portal front page. You could make the all star criteria 1000+ fans, being on that chart, being consistently on the weekly monthly and yearly top charts - being on the old top 30 charts, or being frontpaged for your audio in the past.

Also what people thought of NAC judging doesn't realy concern me - from what I saw a lot of it was butthurtedness (I poured my heart into this and you gave me a 5? WTF? - such is life - not everyone will like your song.) - at least with the NAC every NAC (except for the last one) got a winning sig personally made by me for the top 3 users (and later top 4), every judge was a musician veteran who reviewed every single entry, and winners 1-3 got prizes in store credit. They were able to discuss the ideas as they made them, and for the most part every result was pretty damn close to the deadline. Contest entries were lenient if people were late, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

so I am looking at this one and trying to think of what colours would really make it pop - as it is my favourite piece..

all gold could be really cool, or alternating gold and white, or white with gold edges.. I could draw clouds in silhouette on each flap part.. or make those parts a printout of actual clouds.. although that might be tricky and expensive to pull off well..

I still like the concept of bordering it with gold though..

Probably not considering I made them so long ago that's no longer a consideration. Nope I like them simply because I like them :)

also just to add one more thing - imo you have to have a contest held by someone that is more or less known. In the end while the audio mods still didn't LIKE me, they did have to admit that I was at least the ONLY newgrounder who had consistently run 24 consecutive audio contests - at least with me you always get consistency.

Unfortunately the NGS store no longer exists - tom used to award store credit to the winners of the NAC - I don't know what you guys award now for contests.

Also if I am gonna get the same snarky bullshit from the audio mods I got last time then I'll just fuck right off - I did what I did to help newgrounds, not to listen to peoples butthurt skippy remarks because I had taken their piece of the spotlight pie.

Response to: "ng Audio Underdogs" Contest Idea Posted July 20th, 2014 in Audio

also contrary to popular opinion - me and brokendeck still ARE the best of friends - I am just not here much anymore, and he i busy doing his thing. I wasn't THRILLED when his involvement got him modded, as it brought back Rucklo memories, but unlike rucklo I had matured since then and didn't try to hold onto the chaos and make his life a living hell like I did Rucklo.

IF newgrounds really wanted it I don't see why it can't be done. The NAC discussion thread exists - look it up and post in it. If noone does then I can only assume that most of you would rather just complain than actually have a solution.

Response to: "ng Audio Underdogs" Contest Idea Posted July 20th, 2014 in Audio

imo newgrounds window of super popular artists was from 2003-2009, as evidenced by the greatest hits of all time charts on newgrounds (with a few noteable exceptions)

I only ran the NACs because the MACs had basically died because it was run as a collective, and whenever that happens you tend to have issues.. people just didn't maintain it.

So I ran it for a year.. people seemed to like it although the audio staff hated me for it because it wasn't newsgrounds staff or audio mods running it - with increasing hostility towards me I ran it for another year, with increased "threats" that I was going to be replaced - so I stopped after the second year - a few contests seemed to persist here and there but then ultimately that, just like everything newgrounds seems to try, died.

I have offered to bring back the NACs, none of you seemed to care, and thus neither do I.

you can't break a persons dick - there is no bone in it like other animals - it's just a sexual inflatable balloon that fills up with blood. Worst that happens is the string that connects the foreskin to the head snaps - I knew someone tat happened to - he bled and bled and bled..

Response to: Origami Wheels - would you buy? Posted July 17th, 2014 in Art

so this origami base is a bit diferent - for this one I actually made one of the bases, scanned it in both opened and on its side, and made 2 rings arrayed in photoshop with it - the scanner seemed to colour it a bit oddly which looks cool - but in reality the whole thing would be white, with off-white in the middle probably.

this is a kangaroo base - looks very similar to my hummingbird base result. I figure I can do them this way and give people an idea of the result I wish to make, and then make it if interested, instead of spending a crapload of time making one people don't buy - this way I can just have people request me to make them and sell them as people want them.

just my 2 cents here as most other points i have, have been noted n brought up prior, but one thing i want to bring to your attention, and i can see you are both very 'paranoid' n private, however.. these traits will hurt you in the kickstarter game,

for the most part minus the potato salad of coarse because thats just lolz but a successful kickstarter will have 1 or both of 2 things.

1. it is very transparent in how funds will be spent. people are very hesitant to give you 10,000 to have you make 1 $150 box, and then disappear with the rest of the fund and never be heard of again.. kick starters that explain. this is how much i want and this is what its for exactly people read it/see it and go 'oh that seems reasonable' then they are happy to pitch in their 2 cents.

2. rewards. now this is a little more challenging for you, but take for example the cooler you brought up, thats successful because of its rewards, its almost all physicals and you get a reward for the donation you make, your not pitching money to support the research of a product as much as you are physically preording the product

---------------
the biggest turn off for people on kick starters seem to be goals without any real logic or basis, and thats usually not because the person behind it hasnt worked it out themselves its just they dont know / or refuse to put it out there how much they are spending on what and where and how they came up with that ammount..
so when a person comes across your kickstarter and sees you want 10,000 to create $150 lightboxes, and they have no idea the work or costs that go into creating them, how will they justify giving you any money?

tru enough! I am working out a breakdown as we speak - I often say the best way to learn is to fuck up, and then have everyone tell you what you did wrong - you learn MUCH faster then if you were to somehow understand this all beforehand and do ton of research - in field experience is always the best- after all - building codes are just an accumulation of what not to do after horrible things have happened when they were actually done..

my goal is to use photovoltaic strips as secondary power - they will not power the lightbox alone, but will instead provide auxillary power to the lithium ion rechargeable batteries inside, which will also be able to be plugged in to be recharged (ideally). Unfortunately as much as I would like these lightboxes to last forever.. it seems that even though the bulbs will never burn out, the transformers will eventually go. Constantly powered the lights can last anywhere from 5-10 years - and that is being lit non-stop.

Admittedly they don't look to bad during the day unlit, but look much better lit, even during the day.. the light just brings out a dimension to the image that makes it actually pop in 3d.

The batteries will need to be replaced eventually as well, as even rechargeable batteries don't last forever.. aand the photovoltaic cells will probably go eventually to. It is a problem with dealing with technology that, like everything, has a shelf life. My goal is to make it so that for a fee we can always repair them for people, or most of them can open it up, figure it out for themselves, and get the part they need to fix it themselves. Regardless most people won't have these on all the time and thus they should last years and years and years..

I have done a step by step breakdown of the price and where it is going on the kickstarter page - hopefully this helps :)

The price for the gallery is around the same price my friend who I am using his studio space paid for his, so I figure it is a good price, and will allow me to find one that has the resources I need. Also naturally I will not be neting 10 grand - probably more like 8 grand as with all the kickstarter rewards some of that will be eaten up through the rewards as well as the fees from the site, so I factored that into my price.
