So I have been noticing lately that facebook has been intermittently crashing, and not just locally, globally.. not for long.. usually only 5 or 10 mins at a time.. but it got me wondering.. how would the world react if ALL social media just stopped working one day?

You turned on your phone and all the servers were down - you couldn't access anything on your phone - the internet didn't work - signs in restaurants didn't work, your gps didn't work.. medical equipment didn't work, newgrounds didn't work. I mean.. I get annoyed when facebook is down, I am sure it would be a major culture shock to this generation that has pretty much been raised on social media if EVERYTHING went down.

How would they adjust? Have they lost too much of actual social skills to be able to know where they are going, to properly communicate with each other, to think things through without having to look them up on google or ask siri? I see a generation that isn't more intelligent - but is more dependent ON central intelligence, aka search engines and apps that do things for them. They have access to all this intelligence, but they only use it to further that which they claim to already know.

I think the issue is a lot farther reaching than any of us realize, and have far reaching implications than we have even considered. I think it could possibly blow us back to the stone age, as people rely more and more on machines to do everything and forget more and more on how to do basic things themselves.

TL:dr; Can you survive without any form of electronic social media? Billboards, forums, txts, phones computers etc..

I believe that the world has gotten to the point where they expect that if they are indignant enough, over anything, that it is enough to alter everything around them to please their narrowed view of reality.

Like easing things to protect peoples fragile egos.. or reporting parents to child services if a parent raises their voice or smacks them.. sometimes people need a bit of reality smacked into them. The power of freedom only works if there is something intelligent behind the helm.
