Scanlines require subtlety just like lens flares.
Instead of making them black, try grey and then changing the layer filter to overlay or soft light... anything less obvious than big black streaks running across the image.

I remember Tonkpils666 by his sig because he spelt 'Designing' wrong in it, and I remember Prinzy2 by his sig because it doesn't blend properly with the BBS background grey.

Any Photoshop expert will tell you that the only things really worth doing in Photoshop are Filter>Clouds and Filter>Lens Flare.

Depending on their monitor settings, some people may not notice the difference, but if you've got a decent up to date mon. and your settings are at normal brightness, the difference in colour caused by lost quality can be pretty damn noticeable.
