Yeah that's true, which is why I suggested making a temporary forum for use as a dev portal while the game's being made.

That way you don't have to contact everyone every time the new versions of everything are updated.
Can also use a temp forum that can show .swf and accept file uploads etc. - and edit posts so that stickys can be kept up do date and the info you want is 1st post.
Also it keeps everyone on the same page so that if someone has a question it can be asked and answered in public and no one need ask the same question again.
The NG forum is fine but it's not really designed for developing flash games :P

As long as we've got solutions to those problems I'll be fine dealing with everyone and getting the synergy going. I really suggest a temp forum or developers portal of some kind.

Ok, well I recommend you guys set up a dodgy hidden phpbb forum somewhere and use it as a temporary sort of development portal.
Could just have diff sub forums for each level or whatever.

It's important to keep everyone on the same page and something of that nature is very useful

I'll set it up if you want, but my web hosting isn't the greatest.
Someone else would have to admin though, verify all the users etc so they can see the hidden forums.

It's just a thought, but probably a good one.

Greetings!

I'm interested in programming this game, it looks like it could be totally super sweet.

I recently finished off my last game (which will be on NG next week) and then started on this sweet baby:
http://www.lazy-nation.com/chrispington/
lineoffire18.html

That is the kind of gameplay you'll be going for on this game right?

Here's some other engines I made ages ago, as a reference:
(more weapons in the apartment, equip them on the inventory screen. For those of you who have been waiting, YES, I will be finishing this once i've taken my code skills to the max)
http://www.lazy-nation.com/chrispington/
storymodetest1.html

http://www.lazy-nation.com/chrispington/
commando12.html

This one's from like 2006, I've learned a lot since then.

And yeah, Tom's right, there is no way I'd do this project for free, not when the options are this game VS games that would pay the bills.

I am interested but it's way too soon to commit to anything, I'll check this topic for developments and hopefully you guys will polish off the concept art, team lists, game concept, gameplay summary etc. -
There would also have to be some kind of system where a few artists manage the rest and liaise with the coder so there would be no ultimate horror, managment required.

Keep working on it!

I'll be around, but PM me if I go AWOL.

I love this idea! Custom ngap playlists!

If arrays are too advanced, just use if's

Make a variable that's a random number; (between 1 and however many pics you want)

if (myrandomvariable == 1) {
loadpic1
}
if (myrandomvariable == 2) {
loadpic2
}

you get the idea.

Just add some code to your preloader that tracks how fast it's loading / how long it took to load, something like that.

You can figure it out.

Seriousness +++
Serious enough, but not too serious. Personally I don't think 5/5 for seriousness is a good thing :P
You set the standard for seriousness though, if you want to act like a robot, I'm sure Mo would oblige.

Money +++++
Payment is definatly Mo's trump card, he pays promtly and generously.

Efficiency +++++
Mo's ready when you are. Easily contactable by both email and IM.

Social ++++
He'll chew the fat with you over an E-beer in the afternoon, I'll put it that way.
Probably the friendliest sponsor that I've contacted.

EPIC.

I wish I'd noticed this topic earlier, another month would have been nice, rushed != good.
Could have had a few more tracks done with more time, or a whole soundtrack if I was unemployed!

anyway, ENJOY.

I use one MC with all the inventory items in it, copied however many times I need, then just go through each MC number with a for loop and tell them what to display. Doesn't leave blank spaces and items can be easily ordered by reordering the display code.

I also found it easy to mod this system so you can drag and drop objects into item slots.

hahahahaha
So that's the whole game concept? Find the cheese in a maze?

Also, I suggest you learn actionscript yourself if that's the example of your graphics quality.
