more trouble than it's worth? probably!
That totally depends on the OP
In the process of organising my sample library and I found some really stupid names for sound files.
Some are like bass stabs, layered drum kit, parts or full bounces of forgotten tunes e.t.c:
WAPWAPWAP.wav
Nasusus.mp3
OhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhSuuuuuuussssssssssaaaaaaaaaan.mp3
Diana.wav (was playing LoL loads at this time ^^)
Porkychops.wav
Porkandfries.wav (Probably had munchies)
I heard a guy was making so many of his own bass stabs that he went through the entire Eastenders cast.
What are yours?

Dans Le Sac
Ray Lamontagne
NiN
Frank Carter 3
The Herbaliser
Calibre
Clams Casino (Although most is instrumental, instrumental can still send a good vibe)
Daft Punk
Dub Mafia
Dub FX
Emily Wells
Fat Freddys Drop
Foo Fighters
Groove Armada
How to Destroy Angels
John Butler Trio
If you look, you will find.

This thread on dnbforums might be useful.
I only use soundcloud newgrounds and mixcloud at the moment.

Can you help me out Newgrounds? :)

You would need a version with the vocals and a version without the vocals (The instrumental). But that's usually quite hard to find.
And take note of that video that Midimachine just posted. Think he's spot on with that. 3 Minutes 44 secs into the vid.

That would kill about a million birds with one stone
(Just gonna throw it out here: Maybe a 'Work in progress' sub-genre for each of the standard Genre's i.e 'Dubstep - WIP')

I think there needs to be a big glowing red flashing neon light above the upload button that tells people to advertise there music in the correct threads.

Soundcloud is botcloud now. Bot watching ads, and paying pro plans, nice.
Haha yup, i've got about 10 russian super models following me. Makes up about 20% of my soundcloud fan base
You can tell that, if the article I linked is of any truth, "Free" accounts will probably become so limited.
I can see it now. You have to pay for profile pics, 10 min overall upload limit e.t.c
I tried to upload one of my DJ mixtapes on there the other day only for it to be taken down within seconds for "Potential Copyright infringement". Every single one of the tunes I played I had legitimately bought, and played roughly 1min-2mins of each track.
So you can't upload mixes on soundcloud.... so a lot of people have migrated to Mixcloud. COMPLETELY free to upload, and you can live tag your tracks...

I'm pretty much Newgrounds exclusive.
Yeah Newgrounds you get so many listens and real good reviews. Some sites I post on are just snobbish and the community are just like... meh, that's why I still use Newgrounds.
But a lot of local producers use soundcloud in my hometown, DJ's, you can follow record labels e.t.c.
I think any site that allows musicians to share there music without having to pay is good.
Why would soundcloud need to start charging money to free users anyway?? They already make a bomb out of the member packages... Money is the problem with music these days.
If the download option is available then yeah. But it's respectful to contact the geezer if your gonna remix it, put it in a mix or anything like that.
Always credit the artists in the description.
Starting in January 2015, Soundcloud will be launching a subscription service, the details around which are still murky. Warner Music Group, one of The Big Three record labels (with Sony and Universal), are the first ones to have signed onto the service. Warner’s inclusion will give artists on the label’s roster “control over the availability of their content,” according to The Next Web. The service will also allow artists to make money from user-generated remixes and mash-ups, as well as generate revenue from each song of theirs played by a Soundcloud user.

So soundcloud could become an ad spammed version of youtube (Seriously that shit pisses me off.. It's like maggots crawling through your ears and eating your brain. Till it explodes with shit eating flies).
They've already got membership options already that give you more upload time, promo track e.t.c. But if they take away the free option that will be gash.
Sony getting involved? Hope they get hacked ;P
I need to improve my life.
My life is a mess = my music is shit.
I was thinking recently of scouting out all of the hidden gems on Newgrounds and doing a mix on my decks.
Think it would be a good idea, but maybe not with sub genres to start with. I think there should be a time limit aswell? Maybe an hour? (who would sit through 2 hours?)
Also, would you be able to upload mixes that aren't strictly from newgrounds (Providing they are legitimately bought tracks), because Im quite up for spreading and inspiring people with music they may not of heard (Obviously would tag all artists)
And as someone said in a previous post, i've got soundcloud and mixcloud and real live clubs to play my mixes on... So is it worth it?

why do people say you should get a sub woofer?
just get good speakers that cover the bass frequencies well.
It still won't compare to having a sub....................... You need to feel it man.
Alternatively you could wear it.

I shall toss money your way once I have my Paypal re-setup, Sequenced. Hopefully by then you will find a place and then a job.
Plenty of live in jobs about and they are across the country, so you can relocate. Mainly chef jobs or kitchen porter though.
In the same position man as you sequenced. Over £3k debt, just been kicked out. No job. Been living off 14p lidl noodles for a while. Maybe see if there is a YMCA near you (if you are UK) that will put you up. Hope it all works out and When I'm sorted myself I'll probs buy this album! PM if u need some advice

everything else like midi controllers, analog synths and what not aren't essential.
You have got one. But the new cubase is something like £400 or something. This is an expensive hobby my friend.
As someone said earlier, controllers and modulators and stuff are not essential, but definately worth playing around with if you ever get the chance.
A decent mic is a bonus if you can sing, know anyone who can sing (To sample them) or record guitar or something
Thanks that does help! I don't know some of the terms you have used like "phono inputs" and "get a sub" like from subway? :) I can get a nice sound card for my mac though.
Get a subwoofer. For the bass. Don't worry about phono :P Try some different music production software, loads of people on newgrounds use Fruity Loops.
Recently got some DJ decks, been practising for about 6months and finally recorded the first mix that im proud to upload. It's liquid Drum & Bass from artists like calibre, lenzman, LSB, and it gets a bit more heavier near the end with some more kinda techy vibes.
Free download, 40 mins dnb. Will be uploading another mix tomorrow.

Also, has anyone ever been to a professional studio before? How much does it usually go for and hour? and what is the process like of going in and working on a project with a (team/partner)?
Just keep building it. Learn what youve got an expand. I started by messing about on a free DAW called Krystal (or something), Then I hooked an old casio (Which had a floppy disk drive on it..) to link up so i could record midi. Decent speakers you will definately want to invest in. As well as good headphones. You need to mix between both. KRK Rokits will be my next speakers.
Get a sub.
A nice soundcard is a plus, and a good investment in the long run. Used to have an M-audio, only cost me something like £90 and it hat phono inputs (Could get a nice recording out of my dj decks if I still had the soundcard), it had a midi cable port with very low latency on it, And everything I did on it sounded good.
I want to buy some hardware compressers, eq's, effect pedals and stuff to get a more analogue kind of sound.
Hope this helps
Interested to know how fast people mix there tracks. Generally with drum and bass I leave a track on for around 1 minute 30 secs before I switch, i think that's pretty slow though

Ha, Farage is hated over here.
They discussed things like immigration policy, schools and grammer schools e.t.c I'll post some vids in a minute.
I didn't think Brand was on form last night. Oh and the guy who was supporting Farage is supposedly the brother of a MP of UKIP

I get the same problem with Cubase 5.
You need to find the option to release your audio driver when you minimise. Should be somewhere in settings.
Anybody watching this?

Been some stabs at Nigel Farrage about immigration policy. Whats people thinking?
