I know paint tool SAI has a lineart tool, though I don't use it so I'm not sure where the button is. You should look up some tutorials for general use of the program on DA. They have a whole section of paint tool SAI tuts.

A few things i already see wrong is the shape of her head and most of the shading . im open to all opinions
Don't shade with pure black and white. I'm not sure what program you're using but all the decent ones have a lineart tool, even the free ones. Since you only have a mouse you should use that instead to prevent shaky lines.
I work at an elementary school but I interviewed for a job at a print shop last week and I really hope I get it.
Adjusted the thumb on this one and added in more color. I haven't blended the color of the skin in much yet.
I use GIMP. It's free and nearly as good as Photoshop for most things.
I dare you to try to get your elbow as close to your ear as his is. You will break your shoulder. If his hands are supposed to be on a turn table then his elbows would be just a bit higher than his hands. The rest of his general anatomy is off as well. Before drawing you need to look at a lot of refs of people in similar poses to what you want. It will greatly improve your anatomy. I'd also recommend looking at some tutorials for clothes.
I haven't colored this one yet because the lighting has given me issues.

Yeah I think I did that shading wrong.
Here's a skull painting. That's not a human skull, but rather of one of our earlier ancestors.

Did you look at the link to the ref I posted? I shows more of the body so the angle should be more clear.

I do studies occasionally, thought not as much as I probably should.
This is a painting I'm currently working on of a girl in a hot spring. I was originally going to cell shade this but I decided to paint it instead.
NSFW warning for the art in this post.

Thanks. That first link is really helpful.

My original plan was to have her eyes be empty sockets dripping blood. >_> I decided that was too much.
Here's a value study that I did today. Ref.

Thanks for the tutorial. I've seen a few skin tuts but not that one. I'll try out their technique next time I'm practicing. ^^

For the hands, I think what bothers me most is the way there's not much in the way of shadows- you've got some nice midtones but not enough darks to make the fingers pop. The anatomy all needs a little work- I recommend posing your own hands the way you want them to appear and then using them as models. The thumb on the left particularly needs help.
With the second piece, you might find it helpful to think of hair more as a collection of ribbons than as singular strands. Googling "ribbon techique for hair drawing" should find you some helpful tutorials if that doesn't make sense.
I see what you mean about the hands. I do use my own as refs and that indeed has helped me improve some but I still have a ways to go. I googled the ribbon technique and read up on the concept, though I couldn't find any tutorials for it. -_- All the results it gave me were for making hair bows.
The technique I learned painting hair is here this one. I've tried using other methods but they haven't turned out as good for me.
And here's one of the paintings I did with it, heavily focusing on the hair. I realize that her lips came out too small. They were alright when I sketched it but once I painted it they seemed to shrink. I also know that the nose is a little messed up. I've always had problems with noses. I made it blink too using just a few frames in GIMP. It was the first gif I've ever done so I don't think it turned out too bad.
Also some side view portrait practice, testing out a few new methods. I tried using different hues in my coloring at low opacity and also practicing painting wounds.
I'm new here at Newgrounds and have seen other people posting their art up in threads so I thought I'd do the same. I would appreciate any helpful critique. I draw in a combination of GIMP and PSCS3. Mostly I like to draw people but am working at getting better at backgrounds.
I'll start off by posting one of my paintings. It's a bit old but still my favorite piece. My biggest concern was the hands but I know I didn't get the nails right. I've had trouble getting them to look realistic and would appreciate any tips about getting them to look better. I know the fishnet looks bad and since then I have practiced drawing it more realistically.
