no, he has a point. the majority of drug abusers will do the drugs if they are legal or illegal - but someone who opposes to taking drugs, which is a large majority of people, do not oppose them purely on the ground that they are illegal - its what they ARE.
a small number of people, it is true, would take the opportunity to try them because they became legal, but the majority of people who oppose drugs would not - if sticking nails in your eyes became legal, would you do it? alot of people would take a similar standpoint.

the side effects of drugs being illegal outweights the bad in drugs being legal.
zerok is right - you'd have huge economic damage if you legalised and mass produced drugs, BUT, a huge percentage of the taxpayers money goes towards funding drug busts and anti-drug policies used in the police. the amount of money spent because of drugs being illegal is insane, because its not free market. because its so hard to get hold of certain drugs, the price is very, very high.
and not only for the user. the more expensive the product, the bigger conntotations it has on the market.
if your an american and truly believe in "free market", drugs should definatly be legal. I do not condone the use of hard drugs, but its simply illogical when so much money funds fighting drug-related crime.
