1) Please, no more shoop da woop.
2) I don't know if you were trying to make it look exactly the same, but if you were, notice the left line on the mouth (Your left) of the original drawing. The line stays almost parallel to the other side of the mouth. You made it go off on it's own.
3) Lasers are strait. Your lazer looks more like blue fire. Make the laser either a strait line, or make it big at his mouth and slowly get smaller.

*Sigh* I suppose I wasn't clear. Sorry 'bout that. I will run this by you one mo' gain. I said it's a Japanese style. I didn't mean that if you are japanese, you draw anime. Plus, I said that I do not plan on drawing anime as my personal style. I really just like to study different types of art. Wasn't really aiming for originality, here. In fact, it WAS kinda trying to 'copy' a style (not line for line, but basing it off of anime characters I have seen in my past) So, it should look like a mix of things I have seen before.

First of all, read the stuff I said before saying stuff like that. I never draw anime. I draw in this completely different style. (I just thought this would be fun to do. And it's always good to know how to draw manga.)

Secondly, yes, anime can be original. Other than people who copy other styles completely, nobody draws manga exactly the same. Manga is just the style that people in Japan do. It's no different from any other style.

Response to: only been darwing for three days Posted January 15th, 2008 in Art

Um... Stop using gradients until you are good enough to use them right.
And that's not an insult. I rarely see people use gradients right. Just improve a bit, and see from there if you still want to use gradients.

Rtil uses gradient very well. You might want to check him out.

Oh my god. Please do not use this tutorial, it's seriously bad. Those characters look like they fell out of Totally Spies. This may be a lot of things, such as "animu", but manga it is not.

I definately wouldn't use it for facial features, but that tut seems to know what it's talking about body-wise.

As for the other tutorial (Genious) Sorry... Not really what I was looking for. D:

New to Anime Posted January 15th, 2008 in Art

Ok, here's the scoop. A long time ago, I drew anime-ish, but I later realized that my anime drawings sucked, so I started drawing the crappy little guys like in my sig. I am getting them less crappy though. I am getting some practice doodling in school. :3 But, I haven't drawn anime in about 3 years.

Anyway, I was feeling dangerous today, so I decided to try anime again. I must say, I'm pretty happy with the result (Considering that I just looked at my older ones and they sucked)

But, I can tell it's deeply flawed. I just can't pinpoint exactly what's wrong. Could you help a poor young man pinpoint the flaws in his drawings? :( Please, don't worry about being too harsh with the criticism. Say whatever flaw you see.

Also, as you can tell, I suck with drawing boobs because I hardly ever draw girls. I would definately appreciate boob drawing tips.

I just did the ipod lines by hand, but yeah, i made part of the arms and legs visible because it shouldnt be completely black, just a very strong silhouette.

Still, you cant just turn the brightness down and call it an "iPod effect." If you watch a commercial a bit closer, the lines of detail are the color of the background (or something like that, I haven't seen one of those commercials in a while.) But whatever it is, it isn't just a darker version of the person.
