There's nothing wrong with AS2 (at least not that I have encountered yet). Plus, the reason his code isn't working has nothing to do with what version of actionscript he uses. Most of the time, it's user error. I'll admit AS3 has some improvements, but I'm sticking with what I have.

That and there are 9001x more tutorials for AS2 than AS3 here.

Hmm. You don't need the "dot." before the "duplicateMovieClip" but here's what you should do. Inside the parameters (the parentheses), it should be (_root.dot, "dot" + i, 8)

I swear, I could make an annoying looped electronica song, get some random black guy to say a poem with the word "f***" and "bitches" every other second, say it was by some famous rapper, and people would love it. That is how bad modern rap is.
Not to mention that most "rock" songs today are losing their roots. Whatever happened to stuff like Def Leppard, Van Halen, and Lenny Kravitz? I sure don't know, but I'm glad some of the NG still does some of that stuff.
