They finally did it?
It was gonna happen eventually. Too many close-minded asses, want to make everything "politically correct," when being such actually offends more people. Telling us to open our minds, when it's their minds that need opening (not everyone, but enough of the population I believe).
I think you've misunderstood the definition of close-minded. An example of being close minded would be making everyone say "under God" in the pledge, no matter what religion they are. And really, does taking out "Under God" really offend more people? Perhaps it does, but should it really? It's not like they changed it to "One Nation, fuck you God." Taking it out would be the "open-minded" thing to do.
My example: "Merry Christmas." Isomeone doesn't celebrate it, then kindly say so. We'll be nice and say it the way you want us to; you can still celebrate Kwanzaa, Hannukah, and any other holiday around this time.
Isn't that pretty much what just happened? They kindly said so, and now we can say it the way that doesn't offend anyone.
But really, I don't see why we even bothered to change it. When was the last time you said the pledge and it changed your life and your patriotism? Or the last time that you actually cared what words that you were mindlessly muttering routinely? Taken out or kept there, it truly doesn't make that much of a difference.
