4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsWas looking at MindChambers Building Mindchamber thread and realized how little i've worked on my munny, we both started around the same time and he's doing alot more work than me and is closer to being finished
so i busted out the head today, burned it in the back, but nothings paint can't fix, heres two pics of it
Sorry, kinda disapeared, been real busy with school and other projects
here some pictures of stuff i've been working on, i'll have more once i get them back to my house
Playing with watercolor pencils, pretty fun, picture done with a camera so shading and stuff is pretty unnoticable
Was done for german class, it roughly translates to "The Happy are Rich but the Rich arn't happy" or something like that
haha you stick to your projects so better than me, My munny still only has 1 arm and a pair of lips, got distracted and stopped working on him, got a few paintings and other things done, but not my munny, i wonder if he feels neglected?
i was working on the arm, and i was cooking a base to build detail off of, and i dunno what happened
but it mutated, it got bigger and bubbly and resembles a plastic turd, minor setback, but may get an arm done tonight, who knows? just wanted to inform the masses, i thought it was funny

aw you big sweet talker you
thanks, just working on this in my spare time, i'll probably make an arm for it next, dunno when it will get done but it will!
was home sick for school, got the flu or somthing, my head is kiling me. But i decided to start working on my munny, got one of the hands done today, turned out pretty good
i'll post a few pictures of it
thanks, i'll probably need it, haven't sculpted or anything in awhile, i posted up a sketch of what i plan on doing in my thread if you want to see what i aim to do
heres a closer one of the front
i want to remove its legs and arms (arms easier than legs, need to cut those off) and give it it's own arms that it will stand up on, and add fun featurs like fat and man boobs. I'm so geeked about this it's crazy
i bought a munny over the weekend, and i picked up some clay today, real excited to start, can't wait i'm super geeked
if this turns out well expect more sculptural stuff in the future
heres a rough sketch of what i plan on doing, subject to change due to frustration or just inability
i know i'm so ambitious :D
that looks sick so far, i would integrate those pistons into the final design somehow, they look really badass
and i just picked up some Fimo so i'll get to start on my munny, when it's finished you should take a look, i love the feedback
can't wait to see mindchamber finished
I used this for the legs and arms.
Sculpey
but I was told to get the pro stuff for the chest and head since the details need to be more intricate.
Firm Clay
i was told by my friend who does ceramics kind of stuff, and he recommended using Primo, which hardens to like a plastic and doesn't shrink in baking, and it comes in colors, so i can mix it to the same color as the munny (like a pastel pink, bought it that way, i'm using that color). Have you used Primo? Just wondering if that would work, because then i can just make it the same color.
hey mindchamber, i just got a munny and i want to add on to it like arms and hands and other features, what kind of clay should i use that will mold easily and harden pretty well so i can paint on it and such, and where could i buy it
i really dig your style, i think i ilke your black and white charcoal looking ones the most, with all the heavy shadows and such, but they're really sweet, i think Screaming in My Sleep is my favorite, it's just really cool and i like all the marks that look like scratches on glass, it's pretty damn cool
i wish i had good anatomy like you :-P

dunno if this'll post right, i know nothing of html, we shall see
anyway, it's amazing what boredom can do
a closer shot of the body, not all to happy with this, think i could've done better, i dunno what do you guys think? Any suggestions are more than welcome
heres an upclose shot of the hands, pretty happy with how they turned out, first time actually painting hands so i think i did an okay job, still needs tightened up, but getting there
update on an older piece, gave the face a body, not sure how i feel about it, i like the hands, the body not so much, i accidentally painted it like a shade darker, which bothers me a little, but told by others that it's fine and it works like it's in the shadow of the head, i dunno might go back in and lighten the whole thing up, then again maybe not i'm lazy
thank you, glad you like it :)
i agree with zekey, cool character, but would look 100% better if it was colored, and a body is always a good thing
woah uyer, lets not flame people or anything, that was pretty harsh
and you need to not get so angry, not everyones going to give you good constructive critisism, take what you get and be happy about it, fuck nobody comments on my thread and i don't get pissed about it, be happy with what you have.
and your digital painting, if you want her to look younger put less emphasis on the lines of her face, younger people have smoother skin, so less heavy shadows and such, and i would sharpen her up, she's very fuzzy and almost out of focus looking
but your facial anatomy is getting better
Backwards hands? Anyways, your art looks great but it would be nice to see a new style. The pencil sketches of the hands looked fine, maybe you should do something realistic.
I honestly hate doig realistic work, but i'm taking a class coming up thats all observation stuff to help with portfolio and such, so i'll post stuff from that class, and i just noticed the hands were backwords, to late now
and this is the style i like to draw in, i'm trying to add more realism into it, it's going slowly though because i'm lazy and have pretty shotty anatomy, but i'm working on it and really want to try and push my style into a more realistic direction
I was cleaning out my room and found this on the floor: MORE ART FROM FRESHMEN YEAR! boy i sucked hard
you have amazing linework, i'm pretty envious of it, and your anatomy is great to, i'm working on my anatomy currently, kina getting better
and i don't know anything about photoshop, but the texture and look you get to your works are really cool, they really remind me of like woodblock prints, really cool work
damn, wish i had lettering like you, mines pretty shotty through and through
i would make the T look more like a T, kinda dies away, and the R and O loko a bit much like Es, the O more than the R
but all in all pretty great lettering

Don't make the robot as transparent looking, make the colors stand out a little more from the background, and just generally make it stand out more, solider outlines and detail around the top and let it fade to blurry at the bottom towards its feet.
It just seems like a bit of a blurry mush, and it would aesthetically benefit if you made the robot just stand out more and make it obvious that it was a robot, add little details like rivets and bolts, add some linework, not just shading, to show some more detail, maybe make the color a little brighter or lighter to make it "pop" more and stand out form the background
well there is definate improvement going on, but i won't lie to you, your a far cry from being a really good artist, you seem to lean to drawing things that require some notion of anatomy, so what i would do is stop drawing just anything, and focus on figure drawing and tightening up your anatomy, if your drawing has legs in it, make it a point to have a reference picture handy or someone to look at, i would move away from the stick thin legs and arms with the nubs for joints (your smiley alien) start to study how the human body is put toghether and how it works.
about your hand, since i've been working on hands myself lately, it's not horrible, but there are things wrong with it, the palm is to long, and as a result the thumbs somewhere it shouldn't, clench your hand into a fist and look at it, your fingers should take up most of your palm, the bottom of them should be lined up withthe top of where your thumb joins into your hand, and your thumb will then be taller than your knuckles if its straightened, so when clenched it should be curved and sitting somewhat on top of your pointer finger, and don't ignore the forearm, just because your drawing a had does mean you can half ass what it's connected to, try it again from scratch and constantly be looking at your own hand
i have the outmost faith in you that you can get much better if you buckle down and do the not so fun stuff (figure drawing, anatomy study), then you will you do much better at the fun stuff (personal art)
About 2 years ago i drew stuff about at the same level as you, very stiff characters, with only a vague notion of anatomy, and i took about year and just focused on anatomy and making things look accurate, i started with faces, and i'm at a point that i'm happy with my faces, so i'm branching into the body, so i'm doing more figure drawings and more observations, it's the best way to get better
i would also start studying artists that have similiar styles to what you would like to be able to do, and try to copy their style, not steal there work, but if you just re-draw say an arm that an artist did that you liked, and it looked better than anything you could do, you start to get a feel for how arms should be, and how they work, and you can start to tweak it and make it you own.
I have faith that you can be a damn good artist, i was in your position and, i don't think i'm an amazing artist now, but i know i'm a whole lot better. And i'm pretty sure you can do it to :) good luck!
no need to apalogize, i would just make it a point to read the forum rules before you decide to start another thread, this one will probably just get locked by a mod and nobody will help you
if you really want a sig, go to one of the numerous sig-request threads, somebody there will help you out
