I don't think anybody has adequately pointed out any error in that eating animals and killing them for fun in this era are no better than each other if you have the choice, which many people do. I can't stress this enough - BOTH are for pleasure and neither is any more justified

Eating meat is better because regardless of whether or not you have other options their is still nutritional value in eating meat. So where killing for fun is just pleasure eating meat is pleasure and nutrition. Just because you have options doesn't change the fact that eating meat benefits you in a real and basic way. I don't know if that justifies eating meat when you have the option not to but i do think it's morally better than killing for fun.
