Damn, just came back from a trip, hope the deadline is today at midnight and not yesterday!
Anyways, I ended up not touching that other WIP, so I'll just put up another project I abandoned a while ago.
In any case, I posted a WIP, wondering if my micromesure variations are eligible in this contest. If not, I'll just throw down variations in the second part!
Hey hey RRC, glad to see you're alive and running again!
did someone talk about Reason? Certainly wasn't me, I use Sibel- WOAH, what's this?

I guess I'm using Reason now, better get used to good soundfonts and dynamics now!
The song is a WIP for the time-sig contest Kirbyfemur is throwing, I'd like to get the public's opinion before posting the official song, and I'd also like feedback on the production, since I'm quite new to sequencing.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Samuel Hébert

Oh, and it cannot be overstated that this is indeed just an acid trip song.

Need I say more?

I'll try, thought I may die in the process...
Thanks!
Hey, do we get bonus points for managing to make a catchy serial dodecaphonic avant-garde jazz with complexe scaling? Just wondering...
Also, I'm pushing the theory to the max by trying myself into making a song in 6/4, but instead varying the micromesures inside (for instance going from 2+2+2+2+2+2 to 2+2+2+3+3), similar to Dave's approach in Blue Rondo à la Turk.
Wish me luck! :P

It was based off of a popular style in india when he went to visit one time.
-Blue Rondo à la Turk, a 9/8 piece divided in 2-2-2-3, 2-2-2-3, 2-2-2-3, 3-3-3.
Well actually if you simply looked at the name you could figure it rather comes from turkish culture...
Sorry, couldn't use newgrounds last night.
Me and probably The-Hobo-Dude will enter this contest, we started a time-sig competition between both of us and came up with a few unfinished songs. We're used to making that kind of stuff anyways, we do it all the time in most of our compos anyways.
And to anyone interested in hearing examples, here's a few of Dave Brubeck's best examples:
-Blue Rondo à la Turk, a 9/8 piece divided in 2-2-2-3, 2-2-2-3, 2-2-2-3, 3-3-3.
-The obligative Take Five, Their best seller single in 5/4, ironically the only song NOT written by Dave as many believe, but rather by Paul Desmond, the band's sax player.
-Pick Up Sticks, Song in 6/4.
-Unsquare Dance , some joke song in 7/4.
-Eleven Four, waltz in, you guessed it, 11/4. What's interesting to hear in this one is that thought this song sounds perfectly ordinairy, only people actually counting the beat will notice the odd time sig.
There's loads more, but from here on out the songs are hard to find, so feel free to find more if you feel like it.
Hope that helps anybody in their compo. If so, let me know!
Cheers,
Samuel Hébert
I'd gladly take part in this contest, thought, I could also judge if you preffer.

I'm not comfortable with giving out my information to a bar if it's going to be put into one of those things since Canada's privacy commissioner has vehemently spoken against them as a breach of ones privacy, and potential security threat.
Finding a hotel may be an issue for the same reason, though i'm sure if i put down a $300.00 deposit it shouldn't be an issue. Lastly I heard quebec won't honor health insurance plans from those out of "its" province is this true, cause that means I'm going to need to buy health insurance while I'm down there.
So maybe depending on what I get as an answer?
I've never heard of such a thing, probably was another rumor...
Also, I'm noticing neither me or my friend The-Hobo-Dude are on the list on Luis' webpage, do we enter manualy?
Already saw, absolutely fantastic, I'd recomend it to anyone with the money.
Hey hey, it's been a while, RRC!
I haven't really had ANY time to compose stuff since my previous post here, but I do have a song I'd like being reviewed, so here:

Also, I do see the club is going through a rough period, so I won't really be picky on the quantity!

Sibelius FTW!
I'm working on Sibelius 1.4 (by choice, not by lack of ressource), but I save the songs in MIDI form and convert them using soundfonts such as the chorium or the as aformentioned Fluid R3.
I'm just wondering, doesn't Sibelius 5 come with a built-in Kontakt add-on? Because, then you could just get yourself better sounding sounds and export the whole thing in MP3...
Looking forward to hearing more notation-based music!
My turn!
Didn't really give it as much time as I'd have liked, but it'll have to do!

Me and my buddy are currently working on our songs, so patience...
Hey guys, just recently thought to submit a song I never really ended up finishing, being out of inspiration and not knowing where to go, so I'm hoping this club might just help me with that.

It's important to know I'm using a notation software rather than a sequencing software, wich deprives me of higher quality sounds and/or advanced EQ and stuff like that.

That still doesn't really answer why the whole thing couldn't be moved a week later...
Lol I was just referring to the previous post in wich I asked to get in this week's list, to be devanced by two minutes...
Anyways, all is well if you're doing it on Sunday.
Also, news:
The combo in wich I am at school has agreed to play two of my songs: Epiphany and Motivated Suspicions. I'm hoping for the best and will certainly post them when they're recorded, wich could be in a month.
Cheers,
Samuel Hébert
Hey, me and my buddies were saying that the meet should REALLY be a week later considering it'll be the opening of the Montreal Jazz Festival, one of the biggest jazz festivals in the world, with a crap tone of free shows and Lionel Richie as the opening show.
Also, free beer.

Hey guys, I have a special request to formulate.
I've just had an epiphany after having talked to one of my composition teachers about higher studies, and as a result I'm suddenly going to the Conservatory!
The thing is, the audition deadline is in less than two weeks, and since I'm going in composition, I need to present a bit of my work.
I posted a WIP version of what I think is one of, if not my BEST work up to date, but it's a WIP nontheless, and I can't present an unfinished piece.
Therefor, I'm asking if it was possible for everyone to give me AS MUCH CRITICISME, SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS AS POSSIBLE. I know it's what you guys do anyways, but I'm talking about helping out with the structure, and not the sounds or what it makes you think of...
I know it's a bit of a strange request, or could simply be against the rules (haven't checked, should have...) but I'd like to ask if I could be either placed on top of the list (given that reviewers tend to review that one the most) or even in a special list.
I know I'm asking for special treatment, but heck, I'm asking you guys' opinion out of all others for my Conservatory audition song, and thus, as quickly as possible after all!

Lolol, there's my last week's post and this one's in there, I believe this wekk's should replace last week's...
Me and possibly a few of my buddies will be there, giving we all live in Montreal (Well, OK, not ALL of us, some of them come from Chambly, but close enough!)
Question, if nobody knows that some guy is 17, will it be fine?
Dang lol, you're right...

So there's still time to post your submitions before the deadline, thought make it quick!
Lol, I'm probably using the most improbable DAW possible:
