Any helpful information would be appreciated...

Every EW product uses their custom engine, the PLAY Engine, which is included in every purchase, so no worries there.

Then what does that mean?

I think he means putting music uploaded on another site than NG for the contest is prohibited, not that the music needs to be exclusive.

I gotta step up my game big time.

You say that, and yet your track was one of my favorites from last RAC!

Glad to have you back on the panel, and good luck!

Also if you've already applied you can represent another country once you have submitted your first track :)

Does that mean I technically need to have actually submitted my first track before actually being eligible to use Senegal?

I hadn't made any form of progress over the last 8 days, but yesterday I had a burst of inspiration and am now nearing completion.

I truly hope that TheBenjerman will be able to make something with his current setup, I don't want an unfair advantage!

Agreed... though I received a lot of pm (after sending them out asking on their progress) and was told that most were almost finished... So I'm kind of confused as to why you've only received 2.

Progress is slow in my team, mostly due to the many competitions I'm in and the gigs that have been popping up lately, but we're progressing, and that's the important part.

As soon as I finish my NGADM track I'll give it it's due time, we're 60% done I'd say as of now.

However my prayers seem to be have answered!

My friend introduced me to the world of external sound cards. Up until now i believed these sound cards were merely for mics, guitars, deck and various other things. But seems as though they allow the computer to process the sounds for music production more effectively too.

So i went to research a little into it but it seems as though there is little information about this aspect of external sound cards.

I was told the M-Audio Fast Track Pro would suit my needs best.

Not interested in recording vocals and stuff like that (yet) just interested in getting rid of those annoying clicks and skip's when producing

What do you plan on plugging to said external card?

I've currently got a Tascam US-122 MkII, and with that I have the option of plugging:

-2 ¼ jacks in
-1 ¼ jacks out
-1 MIDI in
-1 MIDI out
-1 pair of RGA in
-2 XLR in

with a good array of knobs to adjust the volume and at the price of 120$ CAN, I'd recommend it to anybody.

Response to: Ask Your Cubase Questions Here Posted August 9th, 2012 in Audio

Hi there, I appear to be in an unfortunate situation which happens to be extremely aggravating, so I hope to resolve this issue quickly.

Basically, when I plug Cubase to my Tascam US-122 Mk II drivers, everything works fine. But for some reason, whenever I try to use it with integrated drivers, like DirectX or Asio4All, the main track doesn't let out any sound.

I can see that individual tracks seem to be working with the volume indicators on the side, and I can listen to individual tracks, but nothing comes out of the main mix for whatever reason.

Now I may just be an idiot, but I can't seem to figure out the issue. HALP!

P.S. for the record, I'm using Cubase LE 5, on a 64-bit Windows 7 OS.

I'd let you decide on the style as long as i felt it was fitting for the game. The sounds i need:

Menu music (30second loop)
Main background music(4-5minute loop used throughout the game)
Level up (5seconds + extremly uplifting)
win game(30 seconds happy win loop)

Ideally i also need some sound effects like crowd cheer, crowd boo, buttons, ka-ching.

I will pay $150 of sponsorship money. Please PM me with examples and how long it would take if interested.
Thanks,

If someone takes sub-saharan Africa it'll be quite interesting to watch his submission.

If it's feasible, I'd like to take on two separate songs for this competition, one representing France, and the other one representing Senegal!

I've already got the base groove set up, and I feel I can manage to work on two projects on this competition as well as the NGADM.

If I recall correctly (read: better than last try), Birdy already reserved Canada, and Artic/Antartica aren't countries but rather continents, hence disqualifying them from the available countries.

Please try again later!

Response to: Do you Vote 5? Posted August 7th, 2012 in Audio

I remember a few years ago I voted based on my own perception, sometimes voting as low as 3. But then at some point I realised that people ARE in fact influenced by the current score of a track, usually voting similarly, except if it's a 5, 'cause everybody assumes it's self voting, even when it's not.

Nowadays, I usually let the first votes come in to not bias their own perception. Sometimes I don't even vote when I feel the score is representative to my own perception.

But if the score gets too low from it, I just vote 5 as a counterbalance. You'd be surprised how far that goes.

WHY MUST YOU PUT SUCH A HEAVY BURDEN ON MY SHOULDERS? OH WOE IS ME
...But seriously, though, I have very little knowledge about traditional Malay music, so hopefully, with a crash course in Malay music history, I won't screw up. HOPEFULLY
Burden? More like a challenge! I grew up literally having all the different traditional musical forms from every single state rammed down my throat at one point in time during my primary/secondary school years. That was a burden. Now I would have loved to be encouraged to read up more on Palestrina and Thomas Tallis (something which I have the occasion to do now), but hey, there you go.

Ah, Tallis, that guy composed some of my favorite Church Chorals of all time, including Spem in Alium!

Glad to know we share tastes!

If you're making your movie on Flash with AS2, the code would be:
onClipEvent(load){
stopAllSounds
}

That's if I recall correctly, I haven't coded in a while. If so, place that 1 frame before the next song pops up.

In any case, that's more the Programmer's department's job if you ask me.

Uncredited traditional themes are allowed, but make sure that your composition is original and that the existing theme doesn't take a dominating role.

What do you mean by uncredited? as in without any form of copyright?

And yes, the nursery rhyme will only be used in the intro.
