Bro, I told you like a month ago that the US were taken, the guy posted his track a month ago.
A bit more info would be needed, if you don't mind. I know you're probably not much aware of the musical lingo, but if you could give a vague description of what emotion, what genre, what length, and - most importantly - if it is payed (if so, how much).
Depending on these answers we can filter out most of the candidates.

That is one damn good trailer. I'm jelly now and demand to have my own.
Also a snuggie.
@Rampant Will you be continuing your listing of each contestant and submission? Because if not, I'm willing to take this role.

Competing with camoshark will definitely be my hardest match up yet. :o
Good luck to the remaining contestants!
I feel I'll have to step up my game like never before, but I feel honored to have the occasion of proving my worth against those to which I hold the highest of esteem.
Good luck to you too, as to everyone in the remaining eight!

I'm quite unsatisfied withe end result, but I feel I got lucky that my contestant had some bad luck of her own. Of course, I'm not the kind of guy to rejoice on the misery of others, but I feel that at the very least the odds were re balanced, if anything.
I'll be doing an actual live-played version of my track to compensate for the short track, and it'll include a jazz flute solo, a trumpet solo, and a piano solo by yours truly. We're looking into finding a schedule to record the whole thing, but it should be done by the end of the week, so it'll perhaps compensate the sub-par quality of this round's submition.

I probably won't do something like this again until I have some more training, however. Ooph.
I don't know if you're aware, but you're still part of the game, as your song was admitted considering you finished it at 11:59.
Best of luck, fellow contestant!

As stated in Step's newspost from a while back, this is the judging period:
Round 2 (Judging):
Starts - 02/09/2012
Ends - 05/09/2012

And mine at the low end of short...
I'm surprised to see there technically aren't any dropouts this round, this means there won't be any problems with logistics for future matches!
Also, now that the limit has passed, let the painstaking process of expectation and deception commence!

Good luck, mate!
Also, as a friendly reminder to everybody, only one hour remains!
I'm probably gonna have to post some crappy MIDI considering the current setup I have, but I'm going to scrap a lot of the projects I had for this song. I'll probably continue it once the deadline is passed.
I sent you a message, go check your inbox.
I checked the time schedule proposed by Step, and it says 02/09/12, so I'm guessing it's 11:59PM tomorrow, and not today.

Hopefully, more people will submit their tracks as the day goes on: we only have 6 out of 16 entries so far!
Isn't it tommorow at 12:59PM? I'm 100% screwed if it isn't, for I have a marriage to attend today, and I won't be home 'till at least 1:00AM.
I've got the same issue, can't quite explain it myself, but it's been like this for years, and back in the days that the global ranking for songs was still a thing, the song was 127th most popular track of all times.

*Update* cool, an edit button.
That is the greatest mystery of the case, since I had over 10K$ worth of equipment just hanging, and the robbers had to physically move a Roland VSynth to have access to the rest of the setup. They took the thing that had the least physical worth, as the thing isn't worth any more than 50$. I mean heck, even my USB splitter is worth more, and it was in plain sight.
The only plausible scenario would be that the robber knew the worth of the samples inside.
*Edit* I really like the new edit function, it just seems like something that should have been added since the redesign!
Alright, so as I already wimpered in the Lounge, I've had my CCC hard drive stolen, so I'm having a bit of a setback for the completion of my track.
Also, even though EW sent me a message stating that I can in fact just download the engine, it doesn't include the samples, so I'm still in a pinch.
[Robbery]
Welp, I woke up this morning and headed to the studio, only to realize that the window was open and that there seemed to be a couple of things missing. Only minor things, like a crappy guitar and like two maracas (WTF), but the I headed to my studio setup to compose and realised that my sounds weren't playing. I look inside my tray of hardware to realize that THE FUCKERS STOLE MY CCC. Now I've got no soundfonts and with only two days till the end of the NGADM and all the shitload of projects I'm currently engaged in, I think I'm fucked.
*Update on that* I contacted East-West, and it seems I can just download them, so hope has been restored. My jimmies are still rustled, though.

Sorry I haven't been back to some people as quickly as I usually am... Internet at my house went down for a few days and I've been chasing stuff up ever since :/
Anyhows... I'm working on getting back to everyone and I'm updating all the submitted entries right now! :)
Well since you're there, do you mind authenticating my entry for Okinawa? I don't want to work on the project for nothing, even though I'll be working on it anyways partially because of the gig.
At 8/27/12 12:37 AM, lnitroburstl wrote: Ok, another question from your neighborhood newbie. Is knowing a ton of vocabulary necessary for creating good music? I'm not talking about pitches and chords, I already know quite a bit of music theory because I've played the trumpet for several years. No, I'm talking about oscilloscopes, enabling overdubs, tweak bands, and other seemingly unnecessary technological terms I've seen while screwing around in FL Studio.
Well unless you're working on a notation software, it's always good to actually know what you're doing when messing around in a DAW. You can always try out a few things and, if you've got a good ear for music production, achieve something decent, but that's taking a gamble.
As for some of the fancy terms, if you're not into electronic music, a lot of these terms are completely irrelevant, since using a 3x osciliator would be pretty unlikely in acoustic genres.
Greetings from a fellow trumpeter.
