You can make your flash file that you upload have a self-executing link to a non-NG web page on your server with your flash file in it and it would display as if it were on the NG servers. I wouldn’t recommend it if your submission gets real popular because it would kill your bandwidth.
FYI: You need hosting, such as your own server, for this method to work.
If I remebered the name, I would have mentioned it here, and I would have done a search in the portal as well.
But thatnks anyway guys! :)
I was looking through my old reviews and found it. It's called "Die in style"http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/113393
Jeeze, a whole lot of help you people are. :)
What I meant to say is I CAN'T remember the name of this game.
I tried serching for it myself and I can up empty. There is this choose-the-stick-figure-death game that I can remeber the name of.
In the main menu, if you clicked on the stickmen, he would say something like "Lo, what do you want?". He was trapped inside some goverment facility and you chose different weapons to use on him as an experement and after the clip was done it listed how many guards and civilians died, weither he escaped or not, and if it was a recommended weapon or not.
If anyone knows what game I'm talking about and could give me the title or a link to it, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

oops, lol, i missed this post.
If I were you, I would pirate it just out of spite.
Here's what you do to pirate any CD, regardless of what shitty software and pathetic attempt they employ to prevent you from doing so:
1. Get a portable Cd player, or any CD player with a headphone Jack.
2. Get one of those chords that is used to hook up the subwoofer of a decent computer speaker set to the computer (Any chord that fits in the headphone jack and is the same on both ends)
3. Go into your computer's sound settings, and make sure that the microphone will record into whatever sofeware you have that can record from the computers microphone and save the sound file.
4. Hook one end of the sound cord into the CD player and the other end into the microphone port in the back of your computer. (Where you plug the microphone into the computer)
5. Press play on the CD player and record like itwas the microphone.
There, a completely foolproof way to pirate music.

Yeah, I too am looking forward to sharp new portal graphics.
I like the fresh look to NG. Now, if you could give the same theme to all the other pages, that would be great. I like the new format, it gives NG a little bit more atmosphere with the subtle sound effects for the buttons and the visual effects of the search field. Plus, the yellow-to-grey gradients in the middle give it kind of a molten-metal look in that particular spot which just demands attention. Overall, this new look gives NG more visual quality and a cleaner look.
The only qualm I have about it is that the buttons are too small. I can get used to them, but it seems that the NG pages were designed for a 800*600 resolution, while I always have my resolution at 1280*1024.
The load times are not an issue for me since I have cable modem. The only reason I even knew there was an issue was from reading the posts in this thread from people complaining about the size of the pages who obviously have 56k modems.
Overall, I like the new look, it makes NG look cleaner and more high quality without going overboard with the content-substituting masses of visual effect like some other sites implement. The texture at the top of the news items windows is a nice touch too.
Plus I bet Synj appreciates his art on the front page too. :)

I knew I forgot someone important! Yeah, Dave is right up there too.

Tom Fulp (of course...)
Super Flash Bros.

I'd include \Wade Fulp too. Simply because he's featured in so many flash movies created by others.
I think synj is pronounced Singe

StrawberryClock
Sprite Remix
Synj
God.. Really that's his username.
You seriously wouldn't include Legendary Frog in your list? He's like as well known as synj. If you look at the statistics page, he hold the top two places for most bookmarked movies.
Flash artists, I don't really pay attention to the BBS that much.
In that case, it should really be called "List of Big Players of the NG Portal"

Hey, I need help:
A couple weeks ago my computer got formatted and I lost everything. If anyone still has the 3D building prototype programs that I sent or the car-driving program, I'd really appreciate it if they could send them back to me. I can finish a game based on this project, but it won't be near the scale that we originally intended.
(Basically, a sequel to my Vehicular Homicide game but with just 4 city blocks with the 3D buildings.)

I use flash MX at home and I am forced to use flash 5 at school for my multimedia class. Let me tell you, from someone who has used both, that flash 5 is a fucking disgrace compared to flash MX. The interface is so much easier and you can do a lot more coloring tricks in flash MX.
Yeah, they are traced, and the M16 I traced hade the "squarish" clip, so I assumed that that's what M16 clips looked like. I always though that the M16 clip had 30 bullets though, but I guess it looks too short for 30.
lol, I made them myself. Don't believe me? well give me your e-mail and I'll send you the FLA file if you'de like.

How many guns are you going to use in your game?
Just the AK47, the M16, and the colt45. But you can also fly an apache helicopter and drive the NG tank.
I'll include more guns in the sequel.
So what do you think? These are the AK47 and M16 I'm going to put in a game im making.
Is there any way to have a two dementional array in actionscript?
Like array[7][7]?
Someone resuscitated someone else. That's nice, but unless there’s a big neon sign that appeared out of nowhere at the time and said "Work of god BITCH!" then it doesn't prove that god exists, and unless there's an even bigger neon sign that glow with the holy light of a thousand virgins and the shimmer from the bald heads of a thousand babies that says "Oh yeah, Jesus was real. -GOD" then the only thing it proves is that this person had healing powers.
Using this as proof of god and Jesus is conjecture.
I'm not trying to "bitch", I'm just trying to calmly point out why everyone else is.
Maybe if the exact copy of you is constructed on the other end with all the same memories your consciousness (Soul, spirit, whatever you wanna call it), is always "attached" to those set of memories and so it gets immediately pasted into the new body as soon as its constructed.
Or maybe only one of you can exist at one time, so your consciousness is transported along with your body, but if you tried to copy yourself and not destroy the original, the copy would be like kai from lexx, just a boring person with no soul (Spirt, whateva).
Yay! So there's hope after all :)
Now I just have to learn php lol
Thanks, but I don't think you can define the derectory that the file is saved in. In fact, I don't think the data stays after the flash movie is closed :(
Thanks anyway, but I was looking for code that would let me write a savegame file to a persons hard drive for a game that will be on thier hard drive, not just posted on newgrounds.
I'm sorry about your fiend.
Yeah, I haven't been working on it lately because I have a lot of other flash anbd programming projects I've been working on, and the car script is really pissing me off.
It should get finished by may though.
lol, opps, i needed to put underscores infront of the x and y to show the compiler that they are properties. :)
if((_x==#)||(_y==#))
{
_root.gotoAndStop(#);
}
I can think of two ways to acheve this:
1. Have an if statment in you movie clip like this:
if((x==#)||(y==#))
{
_root.gotoAndStop(#);
}
the # are numbers you put in yourself.
2. Put another movie clip in the place where you want the trigger and use hittest to make the movie goto another frame when the moving movie clip hits the trigger.
Is there any way to write a binary file other than a cookie to someones hard drive like in C++? I'm making a game in flash and I need to know this for save games.
