My political music video (Tom Lehrer Music Video http://newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=193516) survived
judgement, but with a rather low score. I think it's worth adding
to the politics collection (if i thought it was a waste of time i
wouldn't have bothered to submit it, ya know).

It's certainly one of the better, recent ones out there.

You did a good job of making the layout simpler and easier to
navigate, but i already miss the guy with the shotgun.
What does everyone think? Should we try to revive Assassin, or is it a mean-spirited relic of NGs past? There are lots of new, annoying celebrities who could use some abuse. Should we maintain that duty here at Newgrounds?
I've mixed feelings about this; on the one hand, it's strangely
gratifying to play a flash game that creams a celebrity, but on
the other hand, it's kinda boring to have a truckload of games
that all essentially do the same thing.

Well, mebbe. Someone in the U.S. government dreamed up that
color coded terrorism-threat alert system and it's been the
butt of countless jokes since.
I like the GU TU MU AU system since it's similar to what NG users
are familiar with, and it gets away from the acronyms that are
getting ESRB into such a tizzy. If ESRB doesn't like that the
acronyms are similar, that's too bad for them.

Between accidents, suicide, and disease, i've buried more
friends and relatives than you have fingers. If someone you
care about dies, it's painful regardless of the circumstances of
the death, but suicide can be particularly stressful to those
left behind for reasons i've neither the time nor the space on

As for calling people 'idiots' and then giving them a mini lecture
on the bible, you might want to take a closer look at the
context in which those commandments were given. It doesn't
mean what you think it means; if the Chosen People weren't
supposed to kill, period, then why were they supposed to
slaughter all those other tribes that were taking up space
in the Promised Land?

How do you propose to change a society so that people don't
feel the need to self-medicate with reefer and booze? If the
email account of events is accurate, the violence started with
the neighbor trying to force his way into LC's apartment, not
with LC using his knife, and the escalation of violence was at
least in part made possible by both of them having impaired
judgement.

But couldn't one argue that the whole thing got started when the

happened at all if their judgement hadn't been impaired by
getting buzzed the way they did?

Quite possibly. I've been seeing a weird trend for the past few
days: whenever i log on, the second time i vote for a movie my
anti-viral ware intercepts and deletes what it identifies as
"Trojan.Win32.SecondThought.c". Has anyone else had a
similar experience?

Thing is, there *is* porn on the site. I can name a couple of

i thought that sort of thing wasn't welcome here. I don't much

So am i, though prolly not for the same reasons you are.
Second, you people do realize this person signed as "Broly's Girl," right? So for all of you people who keep saying "He" or "Him," perhaps you should reconsider who is being the idiot, or who is being "redarded."
If the word "bitch" can be applied to an effeminate guy, why
can't a "girl" who babbles repeatedly about killing someone
be referred to as "he"?

... No. That would be a complete and thorough waste of time. If you have nothing better to do, then quite frankly... you need a life. NG is not a porn site -- it merely relies on ads for them for upholding the servers.
I think an improvement would be to improve on the
search engine to make it easier to find flash that
a person would be interested in. Something that takes
advantage of the 'rating' a movie or game gets re.
violence/profanity/nudity perhaps?

Depends on what you value. Personally, i think that

The list is refreshed every five minutes, and
there are plenty of flash to be voted on still.
Remember, you don't have to pick from the very top of
the list.
You might want to do what i do: i vote on flash that
generally has 180 votes or less and let other people
push the count up to the 200 votes level.

This reminds me of something: wouldn't it be a good
idea to weed out the code that points to movies that
aren't there any longer? A specific example would be:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=37471
The 'movie' that is there is a single frame that sez
the flash that used to be there was removed.

There are many more than 200 people who watch movies
on newgrounds, so i don't think it's unreasonable to
raise the threshold so as to give more people an
opportunity to vote on any given movie. That way,
movies that stay are more likely to better reflect
the tastes of newgrounds users as a group.
It would be nice if only movies that scored 2 or
higher stay on the site, but as has been pointed out
previously, some people blam for reasons that have
little to do with the quality of the movie per se.
Seems to me that raising the threshold number of votes
without changing the score threshold is a reasonable
compromise.
BTW- i don't see any old movies in the portal today.
Does that mean this campaign to raise the # of votes
on old movies has been postponed?

Opera won't do flash, so i'll see if i can scare up a
